January 2021 UPDATE

If it's not less than 10 dollars i'll vote this Not Recommended, but this game very very greatly improves upon the already good shoot em up nature of the first Killing Floor and improves it with:
+More destructive weaponry to play with
+Additional perks, the tanky but low offense SWAT that forced to use SMG in tradeoff for more armor-based perks, and the "master of none" Survivalist able to level up with any weapon.
+Able to parry for melee users.
+HRG weapons, which is unusual for the class but for the right player it can give quite some edge.
+Sleeker presentation, though for some it feels quite less gritty...
+If you play solo offline, the game is actually balanced on your favor, like allowing full heal and lower wave zed count.
+Of the five randomly chosen bosses only one, the returning Patriarch, retain the "hide and heal" which is annoying.
+The Abomination, it looks ugly and powerful, but its limited attack and no healing or energy shield makes any player could take it down by confidence.
It has however few cons, such as
-Bloated size, back in 2017 it was "only" 30gb and now it's 68gb without any meaningful gameplay changes.
-Smaller, more "choked" maps compared to the first game although custom maps do alleviate this issue
-Still not be able to play with friendly bots (there was in the first game but it's not whitelisted so it will prevent leveling)
-Boss fights can be frustrating for first time players because they hit hard, but after you know the flaws you can best them.
-DLC-locked weapons. Not only that they're grossly overpriced and you can't even test them!
-Zed-Conomy still pretty jarring following the CSGO model of "buy key to unlock drops" i've seen more generous free to play games.
Overall pretty recommended. 9/10.

P.S i'm aware of the paid guns DLC but the same update that gives us that, gives us HRG Nailgun for free (as usual, not in game though), which is an awesome weapon that gave one of the classes (that was one of the two classes more suited for tanking) a proper damage dealer.

P.S The Workshop custom maps are great.

TLDR sorry for the wall of text but for some reason now Steam ruined the formatting.

Ultimately i decide recommending this despite this game has several major Quality-of-Life issues.

The GOOD:
-Express your way. Developers have gone so far for all the customizations that from masks, guns, character with different personality, every nook and cranny (except shaving and painting your safehouse) is customizable. This culminates in the update that adds additional clothings. It took Call of Duty until 2019 for them to catch up with the Gunsmith feature.
-Tight shooting mechanics.
-Amazing soundtrack, which split into segments whether you're on stealth, discovered, assault preparation, assault in progress, and assault breaks.
-Some of the missions are memorable, such as Stealing XMAS, White XMAS, Big Bank Heist, Golden Grin Casino, First World Bank, Biker Heist, Point Break, and Scarface Mansion.

-Some characters like Vlad, The Butcher, and Locke, is memorable and well-acted.

-In 2017, Crew AI can not only be customizable, but also can carry the bag for you (toss them to their backs) and provide very useful, exclusive perks. Be wary that if they need to help you they might drop the bags, in which you need to mount them back.

-Anarchist Perk Deck. Invest on it pronto.

-Pretty good support for modding.

The BAD:

-Terrible Stealth. Forget knocking walls or throwing stuff for distraction. Here you play peek-a-boo with patrolling guards, another people, and security cam. Should you knock out a guard, you need to answer their pager. There is only 3 pager limit.

-Enemy spawning mechanics boil down to "spawn cops from unreachable locations to the number of hundreds" from every location they can ever think of. Even when there is assault breaks, more often than it's not, it lied, as enemies are keep spawning.

-Also it would be nice that sometimes the main enemies are not police, but gangs (which exist as non-respawning enemy in many early heists) or mercenaries. That said, Boiling Point and a lot of Locke heists replace the police with, respectively, Russian mercenaries and Murkywater, but only on that mission.

-SWAT Turret and any turret is a gdmn aimbot that can't even be bluffed.

-Arbitrarily terrible perk rules which you need to memorize, and also how some weapons have weird stats (like how equipping the Little Friend can only make you hold two clips?)

-Many of the standard enemies are bullet sponges at harder difficulties, my gameplay contention (in contrast games like ARMA supplement the difficulty by still making it realistic, and no matter how hard games like Killing Floor and DOOM is, enemies visibly wounded as you shoot it no matter how hard it is).

-Random flashbang that spawn out of nowhere most of the time. I didn't recall any of the time where there are enemies actually throw that thing. Not to mention the effect last longer than other games' flashbangs.

-Sub-Par graphics even for 2013, they didn't even have facial animations or mouth-flaps. The engine even shows its age, to the point that the developers games are using Unreal Engine 4 after this, including the ill-fated Overkill's The Walking Dead.

-A lot of the heists including finding hard-to-find keycards or fuseboxes, ruining the pace. This seriously makes some of the final heists, including The White House (which suffers from a lot of design flaws including invisible walls), anticlimactic. If it's a single-player game, it's okay, but if it's a multiplayer game...

-Even worse is the fact that all maps are randomized, so you might found those keycards and fuseboxes there in one mission, once you repeat it, it's in the other place. Not that i opposed to difficulty, but pace-ruining game mechanics, especially for MP, is messed up.

-Those randomizations also affect items you need to guard like power boxes as they can be turned off by enemies, pausing the timer of whatever you need to do to advance.

-BIG OIL HEIST.... combine math with color matching and object matching puzzle and you've got yourself a recipe for mental pain. Even worse that this is a loud-only heist, so you are being constantly attacked.

-CAR SHOP HEIST.... AAAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH. Stealth is terrible in itself, but after you successfully got the hang on the car, you got extremely strict timer, slippery car, and randomized, lengthy tunnel section. And oh you can fail on the last segment, putting the cars in container, it's harder than it sounds.

-To unlock the very satisfying true end there is no method shown clearly in the game itself and you need to do things like interpreting language using an ancient alphabet nobody but weirdos use it, it caters to ARG seekers and data-miners, but for average gamer... It doesn't help that one of the final segments are decoding quiz while you are being attacked by demonic reskins of that enemy which can knock you down in one hit.
Forget to mention that one of the most often requested objective is to finish Car Shop at 4 and a half minutes. Have fun. Or just look at the ending on YouTube. Ending is really good though, wish the world is like that, it's a far better world than the one we live in now. Surprising how a game about playing the "bad guys" have ending as happy as the Marvel movies, or even happier.

-TRIGGER WARNING: The game lacks real horror elements and the Halloween events are more humorous than horrifying, but trypophobic players AVOID PLAYING NO MERCY HEIST (it's also one of the more annoying heists and it even has instant fail trigger near the end) or let other players handle the extraction. I can bear zombies, Left 4 Dead, and mutilated monstrous creatures, but that thing, man....It doesn't help that the mission instruction seems to be bugged as you need to discover blood composing machine after extracting the serum and did it three times, yet the instruction stuck at extracting until you done that.

Verdict: Recommended if you got this like 10 dollars or less for the Legacy Collection.

Without mods: More than just poor mans Rainbow Six Siege, has elements from Battlefield and Call of Duty but more tactical. Short controlled burst. Run n gun will kill you quicker than you say "Tango Down!"
With Mods: ALLAHU AKBAR!!!!
With Anime Mods: Kawaii Waifu Warfare Simulator 20XX

My only gripe is that how all of the maps are stereotypical Middle Eastern combat zone, basically summarized half of the maps from Call of Duty 4. More variety on maps would be nice, unfortunately not only (in comparison to CSGO, once favorite, now bored the hell out) there is scarce number of custom maps not for total conversions like Day of Infamy (not the Steam version but the Workshop TC version), or Born to Kill Vietnam, but also you need to type the mapname and gamemode in the console, which means that it didn't appear on the list.

CS2
+Hits feel snappier than CSGO or previous CS games
+Much more stable frame rate with less drops
-Massive raise in system requirements. Those who can manage to be high 60 1080p fps back in CSGO can play low 720 30 fps with AMD FSR (aka nearsight simulator)
-Some reported false bans
-Limited skins (now default is SAS vs Phoenix, dman i miss ST6 and Leet).
-Limited maps. Though thankfully workshop is back.

Still better than Valorant though.
