Stumbling through the streets of Kuttenberg after a night of thievery, weighed down by my ill-gotten gains, I was stopped by a random drunk who wanted to share his joy that he just had a son! When he asked if I had children of my own, I couldn't resist a smirk and replied, "I might have a few running about, who knows?" We both burst into laughter before I continued with my business. Shortly after, I gained a point in Vitality for being encumbered for so long.

This game is full of moments like this - unexpected, immersive, and downright brilliant. Kudos Warhorse Studios!

I would not recommend the game in its current state.

First off, THIS IS NOT A METROIDVANIA! This is a linear 2D souls like. The challenging gameplay is there, stat allocation is there, but the combat leaves a lot to be desired.

Most of the weapons are clunky so you're practically stuck with using fast weapons such as the dagger to effectively dodge and attack swiftly.

The spells that you unlock aren't amazing. You unlock a dash roll half way through which is worse than your standard dodge roll. Also it has no flashy animation, nothing! Very lazy move from the devs on this one.

The environments are bland, with no background music except for bosses. It does have some light ambient sounds but the experience generally feels empty.

The difficulty is there but it doesn't get any more difficult. Boss fights are the standard wait for an attack, dodge & retaliate, rinse & repeat.

I really like the art style of the game and has some unique mechanics, but it needs a few improvement patches to be considered a decent souls like.

Must have for metroidvania fans! Enjoyed every second of it

- Great soundtrack
- Great variety in skills with some sick animations
- Challenging but doable bosses

Average game at best. Expected something better from Obsidian.

Best entry in the series by far! Gameplay is quite engaging, graphics are gorgeous and the story is quite solid.

Having played both DLCs, I would definitely recommend checking out Fate of Atlantis. The story, locations and new mechanics are brilliant, its definitely not one to miss!

My only pet peeve is performance. On my i9 9900k + 2080ti game runs smooth at a constant 80-120 fps at 1440p on max settings. Performance seems to dip at certain locations (mainly Atlantis), so make sure to turn down Volumetric clouds for a better experience.

Nevertheless, I'm really looking forward to the next installment!

Got this on sale and had me hooked ever since I picked it up.

Ignore reviews stating that this game is hard. It's challenging yes, but not on the same level as the Dark Souls franchise.

Beginning bosses are trivial but they ramp up in difficulty as the game progresses.

Some of the mobs are difficult to deal with as they get to block all your incoming damage, but a well timed dodge will present a short window of attack opportunity.

I'm enjoying this game overall but I don't think its worth the full price. Wait for it to go sale and grab it. You won't be disappointed.
