An unbalanced mess, the transportation (which is the main mechanic in transportation/management games) is so broken it's easy to go from every thing is working fine to the city is starving and downsizing in minutes (even at low speed).

It shouldn't have left early access in it's current state and I wouldn't even buy it on sale, even if it hits below 5 dollars or euros... plus now the developers are claiming to be working on a new game with what they learned on this one - yeah, like how to cheat a lot of people out of money

(Even the biggest youtubers in the ganra like 'JDPLAYS' doesn't play this game anymore... take the hint)

If you are into city building, automation, resource production chains and a unique style of building multi-part structures - this game is the one to follow - it has all of this and is looking very promising plus graphically pleasing,

This game has so much potential and unique building style that I really like and I really want to leave a positive review because this game is showing great potential, but - I'm getting crashes on a regular basis, for which I can't complain because I'm still running windows 7 (which is not mentioned as supported...even though there is no issue with the game loading and running) - the constant crashing is ruining my experience, moving to Linux this game runs much better now and no crashes but one were observed, so I'm content about that,

when it's not crashing, or before it does, it goes through a few cycles of horrible slowness and I'm not the only one saying that - there are plenty of complaints in various discussions and responses to the updates, and multiple threads of reports of issues on their Discord server as well

this game should have remained in early access longer, with the team making more effort into promoting the game if they wanted more people buying into it and made more effort into resolving the issues that plague this wonderful game a lot of people really want to play (it's got almost 210k followers at the time of writing this review), but with a price tag of Factorio and not nearly as good quality as it got before 1.0, there is no reason to buy it - I just hope I'm not shooting us who already bought into it in the foot by telling people to not buy it yet - I'm hoping the devs will make an effort to improve it to the point that it will become as good as it can be and justify the price tag and then I can revise my review and recommendation

I wish more developers were like Wube (the creators of Factorio) - then we would get a new generation of high quality game from high quality studios

I must caution anyone looking to buy this game to consider and check the discussion forums in and out of steam and the game reviews (by players, not paid publications) and see the truth for what it is - if you don't do your "due diligence" then don't come complaining later about the game please,

I must also protest this game dev's practices - publishing a half baked games with bug that are still in it, adding many useless cosmetic DLCs allegedly to finance the game's development, but in reality NOT fixing any of the major bugs like the player character and civs / vehicles / other going through other eachother, standing in a position they cannot get interacted with and other issues many have reported

I didn't refund the game because I bought it from another platform and steam doesn't allow refunds in that situation so I'm stuck with it, but I knew in less than two hours it was so bad I wouldn't want to continue playing (I did give it some more tries and mistakenly left it open for a few hours while doing something else on my PC, hence the hours count)

** this will also get posted on my profile page in case the publisher finds a reason to have my review deleted **

If you're looking for a review on this game you've come to the wrong place, but if you're looking for an outstanding pie recipe you've come to the right place.

Ingredients:

1. 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
2. 1/2 cup white sugar
3. 1/2 cup brown sugar
4. 1/4 cup water
5. 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
6. 1 pinch salt
7. 5 apples - peeled, cored and sliced
8. 1 pastry for double-crust pie

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
2. Combine butter, white sugar, brown sugar, water, cinnamon, and salt in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil, remove from heat and set aside.
3. Roll out half the pastry to fit a 9-inch pie plate. Place bottom crust in pie plate; pour in apple slices.
4. Roll out top crust into a 10-inch circle. Cut into 8 (1-inch) wide strips with a sharp paring knife or pastry wheel. Weave the pastry strips, one at a time, into a lattice pattern. Fold the ends of the lattice strips under the edge of the bottom crust and crimp to seal.
5. Pour butter-sugar mixture over top of pie, coating the lattice, and allowing any remaining sauce to drizzle through the crust.
6. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C), and bake until the crust is golden brown, the caramel on the top crust is set, and the apple filling is bubbling, 35 to 40 more minutes. Allow to cool completely before slicing.

Early Access Review
Wow - 20 hours in and I'm just addicted to this game !

you have to keep up with the pace of research and use any new one you discover, make sure to setup oil delivery from the remote site and not trust your local underground supply, setup relations with other sites to be able to trade with them in case of emergency and have diesel fuel in both ships (that's how far I got until now) to be able to actually perform those tasks and don't forget the lack of fuel/food or basically any kind of energy can run you to the ground in this game...

Highly complicated but fun and addictive !

Update (after over 200 hours) - still very much addictive and I'm waiting for more content to play another map & difficulty

Early Access Review
*** Update 2 - it was release from early access before it was finished, DLCs were already produced instead of continuing to polish the game (claimed it was in parallel but that's a lie) - this kind of behavior should not get encouraged and if the community doesn't show that with their wallets we will continue to get this from other studios, (it's already happening with several other "hooded horse titles and Polymorph Games' "Foundation"...),

stop supporting unfinished game developers !

** update - the developer decided to divert resources to develop DLCs even before the game is actually finished so not only are we early backers & part of the QA - we now support future content we would need to pay extra for - I don't recommend buying the game at this time ! (but I stand by my initial review - the game has a lot to offer though it's buggy and un-finished, so consider carefully) **

This game is amazing and gives many hours of joy, as is evident from the amount of time I've already spent on it, though I know of people that already have over 1500 hours and for good reason - it has a lot to give, from city/country planning, to funds management (up to about mid-game), build with your resources or just pay for it, economy, tourism, road, sea and air traffic & transport options and a lot more is planned, as is evident by the developer's trello board

I definitely (DONT) recommend this game (UNTIL IT'S FINISHED) - worth the price and even more

2020 - Congratulations of releasing 1.0 ! I'm so Happy for the team and tha community. I will always recommand this game for the amount of endless fun and building choices and hours you are able to spend in game

Review of #Factorio:

In short - This game is the kind of game you can't stop playing, there's always one more thing you want to do and by the time you stop you realise it's been a few hours since you started.

When you're sent from your home planet to find a new planet to mine resources from or colonize And the ship you're on crashes on what you think is a deserted planet You find yourself with very little tools to start with.

Now it's your mission to start mining those resources that the planet has to rebuild your ability to send a satellite into space to communicate with your home planet in order to be rescued. you need to start by harvesting wood and mining iron and copper smelt them into usable plates and crafts tools and machines to help you achieve that goal. along the way you will engage in ressearch enabling you to improve your existing tools, craft new ones and more.

But, in contrast to what you were led to believe, the planet is inhabited by native alien life forms and the pollution you create with your technology and machines make them become aggressive towards you and you’re factories. So now you need to survive and to do that you craft weapons and other measures to fight back and hold them off.

When resources become scarce you are forced to forge a railroad and use trains with loading and unloading mechanisms to bring resources from far away areas called outposts. you also need to defend those outposts and maintain them.

This game is a combination of simulation / RTS/ building / management / tower defense genre game. it can be played as a single player game or a multiplayer game. it is an angled above view, resembling games like Sim City, (Transport) tycoon games, minecraft (with Tekkit mod mod), Anno series, dwarf fortress, Prison architect, Big Pharma. it has a demo with 3 missions and shows basic game concepts ( highly recommended) and it is very friendly to the modding community ( using Lua). it also has an in-game map editor + Lua scripting and a dedicated server.

All in all it is recommended by me to anyone that likes this kind of games - I have logged hundreds of hours playing this game since a very early release (0.10.8 alpha) back in August 2014 and have not stopped playing it since.
