The scenario to this game is fun and Australia is a civ that I did not expect to receive, so it's pretty excitement. However, we return to the revelation that those who got the upgraded edition are feeling more and more scammed, as we have realized that we did not get an upgrade to get the high-quality DLC, but in fact only paid to get these minor scenario based DLCs. Is it a crappy business practice? Yes. Did we expect to be tricked by a developer who had been kind to its fan-base? No. Upon re-reading the original "content pass", it's noted that you'll be getting the first few dlc free. There are no promises of getting the big content with it. I guess we will see when the next dlc is released if we actually bought a "Scenario pass" so to speak.

While I am disappointed with the practice and want to give a negative review, I am reviewing the content of the game and not the business practices. With that in mind, the scenario is fun and the new CIv is a refreshingly new civ with interesting mechanics.

Far cry 4 is the latest installment of the Far cry series, as of writing. In what turned out to be a disasterous year for Ubisoft, Far Cry 4 turned out to become a decent product. Fortunately, I did not experience any of the launch issues, so I had a smooth play throughout the game. That said, the game featured tons of graphics options to customize your experience. I cranked it out to 60 fps and ultra setting and it looked absolutely stunning. Truly one of the most beautiful games of the year.

The story and gamplay leave much to be desired though. The gameplay is just a rehashed version of FC3. The hunting challenges felt too easy. Most of the exploration was rendered pointless when they hand you a gyrocopter 20 minutes into the game. However, it is still satisfying to slaughter your way through hordes of animals and baddies.

The storyline is extremely linear with an interesting plot twist, but the games plot and side-plots are riddled with incoherent storytelling, and lazy conclusions. Nearly all of the secondary plots in the game have no form of closure, or receive some very cheap copout closure.

The multiplayer provides an interesting twist on the traditional 4v4 pvp, but its limited game mode leaves much to be desired. Once you've played one match, you've played them all.

Overall, I would give this game a 6.5/10.

It provided fun for a good while, but it lacked immersion and coherence to make me love it, like I liked Far Cry 4. Is it worth $60? Not really, I would say purchase this game on sale, or find some way to get it free (I purchased it with money made from CS).

In the end, while Far Cry 4 will lack the memorability of its predecessor, it is still some decent fun with some of the best GFX of 2014.

Overall: 6.5
