Keep in mind I started this game after playing other story-driven (or choice-driven??) RPGs like Dragon Age, Mass Effect, and The Witcher so my experience was directly affected by that comparison. TLDR at the bottom.

I feel like I would've enjoyed GreedFall more if I played it a long time ago, before playing the other aforementioned titles because GreedFall feels so limited in comparison. It wasn't a bad experience, but it lacked a lot of the polish and flair that the other titles had. It lacked the emotional impact, meaning it didn't even tingle my emotional buttons at all. The environments looked gorgeous, but I felt so restricted by the pathing of the maps and the lack of free movement (jumping and climbing where ever). I also felt like exploring didn't feel rewarding. I mean sure, I love checking out scenery, but I when I find a hidden nook or alcove, it's an understatement to say I'm thoroughly disappointed that there's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in terms of loot there. The writing in the game also left much to be desired. The ending didn't offer me closure on anything. The choices I made felt insignificant and there wasn't really freedom to navigate alternative options overall. This experience felt less like an RPG and more of a generic action-adventure game.

On the upside, I love the combat and crafting in this game. I'm a huge sucker for diverse combat styles and especially mixing gun and sword play. Weapon variety was great and I loved changing things up when I felt like it or needed to for certain fights. Crafting was simple and easy to enjoy. Character progression in terms of stats was instantaneous, rewarding, and noticeable, yet I would like there to be more past level 50 because it definitely feels ♥♥♥♥♥♥ that I can't max out my skills for more varied gameplay.

TLDR: Bland story, Choices don't matter as much as you think, choice is an illusion, endings suck, limited freedom of movement/exploration, great combat experience

I really like the concept! It's noted that it's early access, but I was taken aback by how much action was packed into the less than an hour I got out of the demo.

Pros
-AMAZING LOOKING GAME
-I love the mix between fighting with your gun vs your sword and how combining combos can increase your style score, similar to Devil May Cry
-Concept is great

Things I think that need work
-Story, though to be fair since it's an early access demo, we don't get much of the story.
-Voice acting also could use a little work, but maybe it's because I'm used to playing games like The Witcher or Dragon Age or Mass Effect
-Mechanics: It gets a little clunky when my dodge has a cooldown or if my reload animation is interrupted by the dodging. This makes fights unnecessarily harder I guess.

Things I wish would be in the full game
-Exploration: Please allow for some sense of exploration, the game feels so much like COD in how it's linear gameplay, maybe some decision-making in-game.
-Gun customization
-MORE character customization
-Skill or weapon specializations based on a player's playstyle
