Battalion 1944 finally released like a phoenix out of its early access ashes. If you're familiar to the more 00s or 90s first person shooters and desire to play something as fast paced as that, you'll be in for a treat.

B44 is a competitive game where practice makes perfect. You can play it casually in its limited time mode or arcade where you'll hone your gunplay and movement. These modes tend to have respawn, so it's fun to just dive in, shoot and learn the maps. On the other hand you can dive into Wartide with a more serious and competitive vibe and you'll be trying to spend your time as effective as possible. Because if you die, you'll have to sit out the round and hope your teammates will do well. Whether you'll win or lose, the matches are all intergrated with Faceit, so it has a sense of legitimacy in there right from the start.

The guns sound great from the satisfying ping of a M1 garand to the loud blasts of your snipers. If you have a keen sense of hearing, you'll be able to track and anticipate your enemies well based on their sounds. The graphics can be tweaked to your likings. I really enjoy the amount of customization in here and you can make it as fancy as you want or as ..uhh visibility-focused as you prefer. ;D

Their modding tools are also fun and easy to use. (if you follow the tutorial videos on their channel and know a bit of UE4.) I can't wait to see what others will be creating and there are already quite some ambitious and interesting mods or maps to follow.

Overall, I always felt Battalion 1944 had potential during the Early Access phase, but just needed the care and polish it deserved. Thankfully I can truly say they succeeded and if you're into fast paced competitive shooters, you should definitely add this one to your library.

Hunt or be hunted. The choice is yours.

The killers play in first person and each have their own special abilities and playstyle. The survivors play in third person and behave more like skins, because their unique perks can be learnt by others once you leveled them up high enough.

Leveling up your characters gives you new perks, addons (enhances abilities for the killers or the tools for the survivors) or tokens for more points in a round etc. You don't have to play a certain character to level her up. You can play whoever you like and use the points you get to level up a different character.

You can gain points by playing matches. As a survivor you get them for doing things like the objectives, helping others and by just surviving. As a killer you get it for doing things like hunting, chasing and killing survivors.

So in order to get certain perks you want, there will be a grind. But generally it won't feel that bad, since you're playing the game to do it anyway. The more you do during a match, the more points you receive. So you push yourself to do more than just camping a guy on the hook. Daily challenges also help to lessen the grind and there is often a double points weekend.

You don't have to worry about getting absolutely smashed either. The game uses a ranking system. This way you'll get matched with people of the same-ish ranking. This is fair, since you don't want to be matched with a killer or survivor that has all the knowledge(or good perks) to bully you when you're just new.

You don't really have to worry about all the dlc. All killers are different, but not one is 100% better than another. The main ones are generally regarded as the better ones anyway. But if you see a character you like, you can of course get that one. The non-licensed characters (such as kate denson, the spirit) can be purchased with in-game currency that you earn. The licensed ones (quentin, myers, leatherface) can only be bought with real money. You don't need the dlc to be facing them by the way. So you can be versus a myers and learn a bit about how he plays by watching him murder you.

The game is still being regulary updated and receiving events. The dev team definitely seems to listen to its community!
Overall, it's a fun multiplayer game that you can invest quite some time in.

From the moment you boot this game up, you'll realize you're in for something amazing. You'll be learning commands, navigating your virtual computers and others with the use of your terminal and GUI. You'll hack computers, phones and other electronic devices. When you hear someone talk about it or watch him it might seem overwelming or confusing. But the game gently guides you through the steps till you know by heart. You'll feel like a hacker in no time. Game looks great and the soundtrack compliments its various missions and setting.

While the main game offers correspondence mostly through emails, the DLC puts you into a chatroom. It's a different experience and makes you feel part of a team. The new tools, themes and missions are Great. Definitely worth the money if you also enjoyed the main game.

Once you're done with the game, it doesn't have to be the end. You can either start working on your own campaign with the given tools or download new ones from the workshop. its gameplay is endless. Now go probe some computers and force yourself into Hacknet.

Everything you knew about the xenomorphs from the other games is what you should forget. They won't be cannon fodder to shoot at. Instead, you'll be dealing with just one. And it is the perfect organism. I won't try to say too much about it, apart from that you're going to probably be trying to hide or distract it more than that you will fight it. It learns from what you do in the game. The game doesn't involve a lot of jump scares or something, but more the dread that you know the Xenomorph is walking there somewhere and you're afraid you might not make it to the next savepoint.

Besides the alien, the environment is really well crafted. If you have seen the first movie you'll instantly feel like you're really in that universe. It looks absolutely gorgeous. The sound design keeps you on edge as well.

Some say the game drags on when nearing the end, since it's a pretty long game and after a while you learned how to deal with most situations and thus losing most of the fear. personally, I didn't have too much issue with it. I think it helped that I played it on the near highest difficulty (Hard difficulty). The alien is ruthless and you really have to think about how you utilize your equipment then.
The highest difficulty (Nightmare mode) turns the alien into a true killing machine, also letting you find less loot, your maps are unusable and some of your equipment won't work properly. I wouldn't recommend doing that on your first try unless you enjoy that kind of torture! ;D

The season pass will give you a few more challenge rooms, which if you enjoy the gameplay of Alien: Isolation gives you a bit more replayabilty next to the main story. The DLC maps are highscore driven and based on time. You'll be given various tasks that you need to complete in under a deadline. One mode requires you to constantly come back to a safehouse while the other mode is more of a linear experience. I think the collection also includes "last survivor" and "crew expendable". These are extra story missions that recreate some scenes from the first movie.

So uhh, yeah I'd recommend it if you're looking for a good horror game!

First impression review!

After replaying the first Poker Night at the Inventory, I decided to go ahead and get the second one during a sale. These are my first impressions of the game.

First off, the atmosphere seems a bit less cozy, the chatter amount can't be changed nor can you skip the chats. I do find the new characters a bit dissapointing compared to the older crew, who felt a lot livier and these just throw more mean snarks and remarks instead of fully chatting with eachother. Although I do like the inclusion of GlaDOS as dealer, she's just an awesome dealer with the right amount of evil. Sam definitely makes more jokes with his partner compared to Max in part one, which is also nice.

The poker itself felt as good as always with a better unlocking system than the previous one. The ability to buy the ones you want makes it a lot more rewarding. Since you don't have to wait for the ones you really want. There is a new gamemode, Omaha, but I haven't touched that one yet.

Overall, the game still feels fresh and fun if you're bored of the first one. It has new jokes, new characters and new visual flair to unlock. There are a few things downgrades compared to the other one (unskippable stuff, lesser settings etc) but they're not too bothersome. So if you're a fan of the first, go ahead and try it out!

Several different characters in an area shoot 'em up in a western theme which is well pulled off in a 8-bit style. The shooting feels satisfying and every character is feeling differently enough, definitely worth to try out in co-op style.

While the gameplay is simplistic and the puzzles are easy, the storytelling is perfect and provides a deep background to its lore. Throughout the journey you'll learn more about the world around the characters through scenery and events that has left its presence. There is no real dialogue between characters and is often done through body language. This way of speaking leaves you filling in their dialogue and understanding what they feel. The art style is great, leaving you awing the rich variety of environments you're in. Overall the game is great for its art and great storytelling and narrative design. It's definitely worth a playthrough!

Got yelled at by my GF that i'm too paranoid for checking the monitor and flicking the light switches too much.

...Still got killed by a yellow chicken.

10/10 would be paranoid again.
