You know that feeling of all the monsters hiding behind your back when you turn off the light after a midnight snack? yeah, well in this game that monster is definitely real. DO NOT LET THE LIGHT RUN OUT. but just as your sprint to safety (read: Light), the thrill is rather short. but there's plenty of customization, randomization and mods. I'm just too scared to do a replay on a higher difficulty, cause it forces me to venture into the bunker in complete darkness and like i said. DO NOT LET THE LIGHT RUN OUT.

snowey new york, spider-man, cats and a very fun swinging mechanic. All you need to just wind down and remember what's it like to play a game for relaxation.

With battlefield 2042, it takes a departure from the classic battlefield we know it. Instead, it embraces the "battlefield moments" and sandboxy nature players come to expect and cranks it up to eleven. While the world, in-game that is, is devastated by natural disasters and a kessler effect caused a blackout for all equipment. Fallen countries are scattered and their best soldiers are known as No Pats, mercenaries that fight for resources or territory. Meanwhile, the bigger super powers like USA and Russia are still left standing and use these No Pats to fight wars they deny they ever fought.
It's a grim and gritty tone to use as backdrop and with how the world is progressing, something we can almost start relating to. Tornadoes, large sandstorms can disrupt gameplay and are met with awe. they're amazingly crafted and look gorgeous. I do feel the destructability of these events are a bit too minor and which they had more of an effect.

There's some big changes to gameplay, from 128 players in the main modes, it also comes with new large maps that are divided in sectors. I feel when you fight in a sector it's a lot of fun, but the moment you try to travel to a new one it can be quite a frustrating journey if there's no vehicle or team player to assist you. Each map also quite changes their hotspots. which in my opinion is great. one match you're fighting over the stadium a lot in Hourglass, the entire time it's mostly the skyscrapers. It keeps the match from feeling stale, but I do think some parts of the maps are designed too spacious and flat. With the increase of tanks and helicopters there's not much cover to hide with as infantry.

Then there's the specialists, they replace the classic class system that battlefield had for ages. although the class system itself had changed a ton over the years, the actual removal feels incredibly weird at first. There's no restrictions on what guns you can carry or what gadgets you'll take with you. specialists gives you special passives or abilities that can aid your loadout. I feel with specialists you can create much more team focused builds than before and still retain the weapons you like to use. Overall, I don't mind the inclusion of specialists, but it's going to take a while to get used to.

The specialists really come to fruition in Hazard Zone, which drops you randomely on a map and the goal is to find data drives and try to use one of the two extractions to secure them. In a squad there can only be one specialist each and you'll drop in with a loadout you buy with the credits you earn from playing the mode, or just get in with the free starter loadouts and collect gear on the fly (that you sadly can't take with you). Data drives are fought over by players but also protected by AI. I feel the lack of VOIP or proper communication tools besides pinging makes it hard to play this as duo team in a squad with randoms. I wished there was more options to play as well, like duos, solo or squad. While I enjoy the concept of the mode, I feel the stakes aren't high enough and the rewards aren't that special to keep playing. Creating the best loadout to drop into hazard zone with shouldn't be the end goal as it is now.

If you truly want to play with classes though, there's also Portal. Portal let's you play remastered/remade games from battlefield 3, 1942 and bad Company 2. Their classic maps, weaponry and classes are all there, even down to the similar gameplay mechanics or gunplay. The ability to create your own mode with a logic editor opens opportunities to completely new modes. it's essentially the Garry's mod of battlefield, letting you play Gun Game, Zombie Modes or even an inspired Squid Game "Green light/ Red Light". As long as they keep supporting this I can foresee Portal absolutely stealing the show of the game.

I do have to note, that the game isn't running terribly well or incredibly polished. There's some rough performance. if you have a decent rig (which i don't have so maybe i'm not the best person to describe this, haha) then there's the visual glitches or bugs that can hamper the experience. Luckily the developers seem on point this time around and keeping an active twitter where they communicate what they're working on and what they're doing.

So overall, battlefield 2042 takes some big leaps into the unknown with revising various elements of battlefield and a dip into community driven elements like Portal. While the game still needs more polishing and fixing, I do have to say I'm having a lot of fun with that's already in the box.

The vanilla version of Skater XL is not worth the price they're asking for it. It feels like a shell of what it could be. The gravity and physics feel floaty. Their live service is super slow. So far the only things they released themselves (not including content made by the community) is a small flatground map and some clothes. zero fixes to, for example, the exploitable challenges and zero attempts to tweak or letting us customize the gameplay. The skater still sometimes catches the board prematurely or you end up getting a speed glitch. All their updates so far has been mostly catered for consoles; where they fix up a map made by the community by stripping it from its copyright assets and slapping on some new textures. And the worst part is that most of those maps were made with a realistic physics mod in mind.

I base this review on what's in the box, what the developers created. Because we can't expect the mods that are being put out right now to last. The mods that mattered and made SXL feel fun might vanish soon forever.

If Doom 3 was an actual sequel to the earlier Doom games, you would have pretty much described Prodeus. It's visual style is industrial, dark and gritty. Its music slaps with heavy tunes that could stand next to Doom 2016's OST. Its gunplay is brutal and satisfying. It has all the classic guns you'd expect but with awesome abilities. A shotgun that can set people on fire, A sniper rifle that can also chain people with lightning etc. its maps are well designed.

I'd say the one thing that really sets this game apart from other boomer shooters is its incredibley easy to use and robust level editor. It's seriously fun to mess around with it and has a ton of good features. If you're not that creative then you can easily view user created maps and play them from in-game map browser. It's incredibly well integrated.

Overall, if you're itching to be covered in pixelated blood and gore and feel like you're transported back to the golden age of shooters, look no further.

If Dirt: Rally is seen as the pinnacle of Rally Sims, Session will be seen the pinnacle of Skateboarding Sims.

It's not about stringing along as many over the top tricks as you do in Tony Hawk, it's about finding a spot you find worth skating at and performing cool lines. Maybe drag in a bench from the side to add another grind opportunity or add in a ramp to gain some more height. This can all be done with the object dropper. Allowing you to add more stuff or change what's already there. It has a few big maps with tons of oppertunities. There's a map or spot for everyone. whether it's the streets of philly or NYC; LES skatepark or their own indoor park.

The skating feels down to earth and real. Its controls aren't easy and it takes a while to get used to them. But once you've gotten a feel for it, you can start translating real life movements for the tricks to your sticks. If the controls or physics aren't to your likings, you can completely adjust them in the settings. There's so much options and settings to tweak.

Once you found a good spot and managed to set down a nice line, you can open up the replay editor and record your clip. It's a robust replay editor and after update 0.0.0.20, pretty amazing in how much you can do. creativity is the limit.

Overall, if you're looking for a modern realistic skating sim, look no further. You're not going to find anything better. This will hopefully become one of the memorable skating sims that could potentially revitalize the virtual skateboarding genre.
