Darkest Dungeon 2 starts really strong, makes you excited for where the developers will take this... and then it just doesn't go anywhere. Overall there are 5 major bosses to beat, but by the second one you've seen all the areas and enemies(besides those final bosses) that the game has to offer. Then you have to pray you bring the right team comp for that final boss, hope RNG doesn't screw you along the way and that you drop the right trinkets. The first game was already RNG heavy but you could counteract it with good planning and strategy, here your 2-3 hour long runs are more susceptible to RNG than ever before.

People say this game takes about 60-80 hours to complete, but that's not from the amount of content, that is from the long time it takes between encounters with the new carriage, the long length of areas and then the eventual drag of combat itself. Then about 2 hours into your run you just get screwed by RNG and all that progress is gone. Time to reset and pray to RNGesus that your next 2 hour dragged out run won't screw you. Honestly just go play the first game, its more fun and doesn't waste your time as much as the sequel does.

I bought the original game about 6 months after release, enjoyed the hell out of it back then. Due to a bunch of reasons I didn't have the bandwidth and also couldn't dedicate the time to an MMO anymore, so had to quit half way through the first expansion. After life and my internet got more stable I picked the game up again after the release of End of Dragons. Still an amazing game, every other MMO has me thinking "why cant they do this thing like guild wars 2 does it". The game rewards the time you spend in it no matter what activities you participate in, never rushing you or making you feel like you need to catch up to enjoy the latest content. My old characters were perfectly fine to jump right back into high level content and the new expansions without having to grind out levels.

As for the "Free to Play" aspect of the game, it really feels like you need at least one expansion to get a proper feel for the end game since the class elite specializations and amazing mastery system is locked behind the expansions. The base game these days feels more like an "introduction to Tyria" instead of the core content most players sink their time into. The base game still has a ton to do with full access to World versus World, PvP, fractals of the mists and world bosses, but without an elite specialization you might get left in the dust at higher skill levels.

Systematically taking apart spaceships with a variety of hazards to avoid. All to slowly pay off your massive debt to an uncaring mega corporation that will print a new clone of you even if you die. Great zen game with some cool world building and a decent story to boot.

If you want the original game with more stuff and modern updates, this is it. The designs are wacky and fun with that 60s spy movie aestethic. I do wish some systems went more in depth and the mid game can really turn into a waiting grind at times, but that's only on the default difficulty. So I'd recommend using the custom difficulty option and tweaking research rates and schemes to happen faster.

- Super stylish
- Banger soundtrack
- Easy to learn, difficult to master

This is the game that got me to stop mashing buttons and actually try in a fighting game

Trash optimization. Uninstalled this and installed a custom compiler and instantly I stopped having bad framerates in Boneworks. Boneworks was nearly unplayable using SteamVR for me, but now I get max FPS. This also effected my other VR games, even beat saber would randomly get frame drops out of nowhere, stopped the second I uninstalled this crap.

A hard and grim game, but with a fascinating world and enthralling story. Felt like playing through some kind of weird russian/mongolian fever dream...

Great art style and writing. Its just a lot of fun watching these characters interact and go through this version of hell. Only real issue I've had was the backtracking could get a bit monotonous. For example walking to an area to discover you need to go to another area first, walk all the way there, talk to some characters, then walk all the way back. Not a deal breaker but just hurts the flow of the game.

Accidentally committed incest a few too many times, but then I got the trait "pure-blooded" so it all worked out in the end.
