Excellent NES-like with smooth gameplay (overhead + SHMUP) and interesting story. Guardian Legend inspired, with Blaster Master feel in movement. Well worth it!

I hate the "jump" mechanic. It's awful and needless with 14-button controllers.
The rest of the game is fantastic and charming, but this ruined it for me. Rest of you all have fun.

Fun gameplay, terrible battlepass/monetization scam.

Not the hardcore sequel folks hoped for, but still enjoyable. Cut scenes are the best part (to rip off another review, excellent Saturday morning cartoon pilot). It's not serious at all and makes fun of itself constantly, which I enjoyed. Gameplay is fine as a mix of beat'm up (but missing the umph the other games had), and several other genres (Race, shmup, QTE, cellphone games, platformers).

Fun metroidvania with solid controls, excellent graphics, music, and far more forgiving on the platforming than the previous installment (so far, I'm only part-way complete). Playing the prequel, while recommended for its own merits and some tie-ins, is not required. Well worth it at the asking price!

Highly recommended RPG. Other reviews will have better depth on why but in a nutshell: Well written open world with multiple solutions to every problem and interesting magic mechanics. Spell variety is vast depending on your choices. Well worth the 15-20 hour play through! If you get stuck the community/creators are very helpful too.

Good Ys game, longer than most (20-30 hours).

I rushed it intentionally (still 20 hours). Loved the combat and story, not so much the raids yet the writers did an excellent job of tying it into the plot. Sadly it doesn't get interesting until near end Chap 3 and beyond, but the fast/spammy combat is a riot and easily makes up for it. Also fast forward is fantastic, can speed through a lot of pointless walking/camera pans. Also your AI partners are not useless!

Pros:
+Good story (near end Chap 3 and Beyond).
+Outstandingly fast yet solid skill spammy high-action gameplay.
+Mostly fixed compared to launch (translation, minimal crashing, no stuck characters/events from autosaves).
+Cutscene fastforward and skip.
+Plenty of quests/extra events if you like that.
+Autosaves between areas without issue.
+AI Partners useful in combat!

Cons:
-Slow start (I wish they just cut Chap 2-3), so the game felt longer than needed.
-Crashes still possible (2 for me: 1 in the menu Chap 2; 1 while fastforwarding boss battle defeat scene Chap 6 so I had to redo the short area/fight).
-Vita Port, so PS3 era graphics (only a con because of how beautiful it could have been).

Like every other review, pure gold for Descent lovers. What Descent Underground needs to be (instead of drama). Worth the full price, and that's coming from a person who only buys at $15 or less.

PROS:
+Solid Descent-like Gameplay (6-axis awesome with solid controls)
+Intriguing story
+Outstanding soundtrack
+Clearly and extremely well designed by the original Descent team
+Borderline copyright infringment in all the best ways!
+Zero bugs encountered

CONS:
-None

Not a CON, just unexpected:
-Difficulty needs minor tweaking (Rookie too easy, but Hotshot is a kick in the nuts, and it's only the next level).

Unpolished.

Recommend waiting until it drops to 50%-75% which is probably 1-2 years away from release.

Feels like a fan-made remake on the Gamecube without the love and obsessive attention fans place into their games.

Bad to Good:
---Stupid high price for the quality.
--Horrendous New music and English dubbing (and I like english dubs)
-Glitches are pretty random (warping across a room after talking to someone in their house) but nothing game breaking yet.
-No mouth movements, in videos or in-game rendered scenes.
-Choreography/movement of in-game rendered scenes is from SNES, and it's extremely jagged/out of place with new 3d models.
-AI remains as brainless as SNES version.
+/-Combat plays like the SNES but you can maneuver/run away easier. (forgot it's kind of clunky the way enemies get stunned with delayed follow-up damage).
+Old music and japanese voice overs are available.
+Minimap and plot reminders in the main map screen in case you leave for a while and come back.
+Tiger bikini
++Faithful to the original storywise

Don't even bother, even on sale. Soulless cashgrab that clearly wasn't tested, balanced, or created by folks that actually played a double dragon game.

+New sprites look nice
+Old enemies do have new tricks
-/+ super moves are easy
-Hit boxes are wonky
-Stages are short and uninspiring
-Story is nonsense
-Enemies scale poorly (from easy to kinda easy but can kill you in 1-2 hits)
--Abobo is a pushover
