This game is fun and refreshingly simple to play. Love the variety of boards, and how each board has it's own background and music- but there are two big problems I have with this game.
The camera angles need to be tweaked. Any of the angles that involve moving the camera around are downright frustrating. I can only play this game on camera angle 3.
The amount of generative AI art in this game is insulting. Every loading screen is AI art. Every board has random AI art plastered on it. You'd hope the team behind this game cared enough to create original assets or hire someone to do so, but they'd rather plug a descriptor in a text box and call it a day.

The AI art makes this game feel like a guilty pleasure, and it's so close to being more than that. Steam allows you to disclose if you have AI art in your game, and I wish the developers disclosed that on the store page. It's very distracting.

If you like pinball, get this game on sale. I paid $8 for it, which I think is fair. $20 for a basic game filled with tons of AI art is honestly pathetic.

If you don't care about AI art, motion sickness inducing camera angles, and like pinball, then you should check this out. Don't check it out for full price.

It's just so nice to play a game that you can tell is a passion project through and through. Lots of love and care put into nearly every aspect of this game. I'll update the review after I've completed it but I'm 5 hours in and wholeheartedly recommend this game if you're looking for a surreal single player experience.

Edit: I have completed the game, and I'm already interested in playing it again. The narrative gets a little confusing and esoteric towards the end and the resolution feels a little rushed, it makes me wonder if there is more I have yet to see. The game poses big questions about originality and artistic expression, and the mixed media throughout the game leads to some very unexpected moments. Great stuff here. If you're a fan of Night In The Woods and Neverhood, then you'll very likely be enthralled by this game.

It's a bit short and occasionally rushed for such a narrative-focused game but the pros definitely outweigh all the cons here. Overflowing with style and creativity.

Play the free demo if the game interests you and decide if you wanna buy it from there. Getting sick of this episodic release format for video games and this is an unfortunately apt example of what can go wrong.
The game ain't done, plain and simple. Would you pay for a movie that doesn't have a conclusion? Would you pay for half of a television season?
It's a shame that I find the game so charming, because it makes it all the more disappointing when I see "Episodes 3 and 4" permanently grayed out, staring me in the face.

Whatever, all of this leaves me feeling bitter. Yeah, they made a few changes to the steam page after 2 years of saying more content is on the way (that's 730 days, folks) But I feel like further work needs to be done on how this game is pitched now, seeing as it's missing 50% of what was promised (50% what I paid for)

And for gods sake guys, patch that "Episodes 3 and 4" crap out of the level select if you truly have no current plans on following through, you cowards.

The less you know about this game before playing it, the better. If you haven't played The Stanley Parable before, it's still a ride unlike any other. If you have played The Stanley Parable before, there is at bare minimum 7-8 hours of new content, and even then I'm still not sure if I've seen everything there is to see yet. There is so much to pick apart here, the only real problem being that you can only experience the game for the first time once. Do yourself a favor and try to go in as blind as possible, it made the game a much more magical experience for me.

At times the game may tease you or test your patience, but if you're willing to not take yourself too seriously this game will reward you greatly for it.

This game is the best of its kind, other "walking simulators" can only dream to reach the heights that The Stanley Parable sits squarely at the top of.

While I enjoyed my time playing "Assemble with Care" (and admittedly may have even teared up a bit at the end) I wouldn't recommend paying full price for it, as it doesn't have enough levels or challenge to justify its low replay value.

This is a casual story/character focused "puzzle" game with 13 levels that lasts about an hour and a half.

The best way to describe this game is "charming". The graphics are charming, the voice acting is charming, the gameplay mechanic of taking devices apart and putting them back together is charming, but bear in mind those 90 minutes are all you're gonna get out of it. If you think 90 minutes is worth the price tag, go for it.

The "puzzle" aspect of this game is my only problem with it, I was expecting to have levels that were actually challenging in some way, but the game pretty much plays itself by having the pieces line up automatically for you. If you're looking for a challenge or a puzzle this probably will leave you disappointed, but if you think the idea itself is interesting enough on its own like I did you'll have fun with it.

I also have to add the voice acting is superb- many small games like this fall flat in the voice acting department and end up with often cringey results, but not once did any lines from any of the characters feel awkward or amateur at all. The story never gets too dramatic, it follows a very cute storybook-like narrative with themes about family and all that jazz.

If the trailer interests you and you're okay with a very casual, short, story focused experience, then add "Assemble with Care" to your wishlist and get it when it goes on sale

Wonderfully cute game- outstandingly creative and fun- keeps things fresh by adding new dynamics to the gameplay throughout. Not meant to be challenging as it's more of a toy with a story than a full on puzzle game. My only complaint is that there isn't a sandbox mode, this game could easily double its value if that was added. It's only 2 hours long, but those 2 hours are very enjoyable. If you think that's worth 12 bucks then go ahead, otherwise catch this game on sale because it still is worth playing.

I like to think of myself as a rhythm game fanatic.
Runner 2, Audiosurf, Stepmania, Thumper, Crypt of The Necrodancer, Guitar Hero, Rhythm Heaven Fever, Geometry Dash, Project Mirai DX, Rhythm Heaven Megamix, Rhythm Doctor, Dance Dance Revolution, Rock Band, Rhythm Thief and The Emperor's Treasure, Samba De Amigo, these are all the rhythm games I've played before that I can remember, there might be more, I don't know. The point is that I consider myself pretty experienced in rhythm games.

I don't really review games on Steam. About 5 or 6 years ago I wrote a few reviews for about 5 games or so on here, but I quickly decided to stop because I didn't feel like my word held any kind of importance. But after playing this game, I felt a strong urge to write down my thoughts and opinions on it so at least one other person would see it. The world needs to know.

Slash It Ultimate is by far the worst rhythm game I have ever played.

I need to break this game down and explain what it does wrong piece by piece. Thinking about it now, the number of things that this game does wrong is honestly overwhelming, but I'm going to try anyway. This is important.

  • There are only 15 songs in the game. That's it. And you can't play all of them from the beginning. You have to save up enough coins to purchase the next song.
  • There are 7 game modes, and if you want to play a certain song in a certain game mode, you have to purchase it. If you buy the game mode for one song, you have to buy it again for another song. And the other one, and the other one, all 15 of them.
  • All 7 of the game modes are terrible in their own special way. Most of them don't even feel like they're rhythmically connected to the songs at all! In fact, let me explain why each game mode is so bad. This is important.

  1. Arrows: Similar to DDR or Stepmania in that you use the 4 arrow keys to play along with the song. The thing that's wrong here is that the arrows don't stay in their own column. There are 4 columns, and in DDR for example, the left arrow stays on the far left column for the whole game. Not here. There is no rhyme or reason why an arrow will be placed at whatever column- there is no sense of flow, no sense of order, it's just random. It's beyond frustrating.
  2. Words: You type out words. That's it. You ever play a typing game? Typing of The Dead? Then you've played this. The best part is, there is no connection to the rhythm at all. And if you have two words on the screen, like "Introduction" and "Creation" then if you try typing "Introduction" first, when you press the "c" that is in "Introduction" then it will start typing the other word, "Creation". This becomes severely frustrating once you have 5 words on the screen at once.
  3. Alphabet: Literally just like the words game mode, no connection to the rhythm playing in the background, and this game mode has a delightful habit of having the letters cut off off screen so you lose your combo because you can't see the letters. Why this was never noticed or fixed, I don't know. Again, there is no reason that this needs to be a rhythm game at all, it adds nothing to the songs playing in the background.
  4. Spacebar: Press the spacebar when something goes to the center of the screen. Like Arrows, but this time you have one button instead of 4. These are so poorly designed that honestly all you have to do is tap the spacebar to the rhythm of the song and that's it, nothing else.
  5. Mouse: Move the mouse to a circle as notes come to it. Ugh, this is the closest to a rhythm game on here, but it's so sensitive and janky and feels so unsatisfying that it still fails miserably.
  6. Numbers: It's just the Alphabet game mode but with the number pad instead. It's terrible. I can't describe how poorly designed this thing is.
  7. Cube: Move a cube around. Again, as like most of these game modes, this rhythm game has a disturbing habit of feeling like there is little to no connection between the gameplay and the music being played. Every time you jump as the cube, the camera changes from 2-D sidescroller like a standard Mario platformer, to behind the cube similar to Crash Bandicoot games. Every. Time. You. Jump. It's the most disorienting and unsatisfying experiences I've felt in a rhythm game.

This game has over 500 achievements. Why? WHY?? You spend the whole game just getting flooded with countless achievement notifications every waking second you're playing. You can turn off the achievements in settings, but why would anyone ever include this many achievements? 500? There are only 15 songs! It's insane. Simply insane. I can't stand it.

The game didn't save multiple times. I played the game for about 40 minutes, closed it, then opened it again and all the progress I made, all the songs and game modes I purchased and unlocked, all my high scores in each song were just wiped. I played a couple songs and closed the game and re-opened it to see if it saved, and it did. I shrugged it off, assuming it was a glitch, then when I opened it a third time I saw that yet again everything was wiped. It's like the game is trying to anger me.

15 songs, none of which are that good in all honesty, 7 game modes, all of them failing in the worst ways, practically 80% of the game not even feeling like it has any connection to being a rhythm game, just typing games with music in the background, all for $5.00.

Don't buy this game. It's terrible. It's a waste of time and money and even if it was free I'd implore you to not get it. It's a slap in the face to rhythm gaming as a whole. It's worse than some free flash rhythm games online. It's the worst rhythm game I've ever played. I don't know what else to say.

The graphics look pretty alright though, I guess.
