Absolutely worth playing. The ship building and fleet commands have greatly improved in recent updates and in general I feel like every update and DLC has been an improvement on an already fun game.

Great game to play with friends when you have a little free time. The game is surprisingly balanced even given the randomness. There's for sure good cards and bad cards, but there's enough of a variety that you can counter most, if not all of the OP builds.
Only complaint is the lack of match customization. The regular mode is fun, but it would be nice to have an option for rounds needed to win or an endless mode online (I know there's Local sandbox, but it would be nice to have that online as well.)

I'll likely be updating my review as the game is updated and fixed over time, but for now it's feeling pretty rough. The matchmaking is one of the biggest issues for me because I only play these kinds of games with friends. Even when we eventually got in game, I kept running into a bug that prevented respawning (something to do with reviving and getting knocked back down super fast), which forced me to have to leave the game and restart the whole joining process again.
Overall, in the current state of the game, the UI and matchmaking are the two things that would stop me from recommending this game to anyone. If you're thinking of getting the game, I'd say wait for a while while they patch out all of the waves of bug reports that they're probably wading through.

The game's great and the developer releases consistent updates. There's still more work to be done, but the systems are already complex and overall the game is satisfying.
Only real complaints is that there is a steep learning curve initially and the UI and lack of good control over individual colonists make the moment to moment gameplay feel like an occasional slog.
The updates, in my opinion, are going in a positive direction and overall I'd say the devs are worth supporting from what I've seen.

The mechanics can get complicated, but are extremely rewarding once you get the hang of it. The game is genuinely fun if you enjoy building with blocks. The fleets system is what really brought me back to the game and, although clunky at times, fleets make managing your resources a fun mini game.
My only real gripe is that, because of the procedural nature of the game, there is a lot of down time of just wondering what there is to do. I found myself raiding every pirate station just to build up a huge mass of money and finding that I really didn't have much to spend it on when all was said and done.
Overall, even in the current state, I highly recommend this game. If you put in the effort to understand the systems it's very rewarding. Super interested to see where this game is going, and looking forward to continue to play it in the future.
