Now I know that these kind of titles are not for everybody, so this isn't going to be a long speech type review trying to turn everybody to my side, but more of a 'What I enjoyed and took away from this game.'

Firstly, I love games with the omniscient type narrator in the background such as in Bastion or the Stanley Parable. So this is right up my alley. The narration is wonderful and thought provoking. I've only played this game through twice, but both times I have ended with this great sense of melancholy, mainly from the story told by the narrator.

Although the graphics aren't bursting with vibrance, crazy lens flares, and lifelike realism, the somber tone of colours in the landscape really aid to the mood of the game. The music, well, it also fits perfectly.

Even though you can complete Dear Esther in under an hour, it's not meant to be a game that takes ages to complete with many different endings and whatnot, it's an experience.
A wonderful experience.

Do I recommend this game? Yes definitely.
First of all I love indie games like this, the tear jerking, different art style type games. I think this comes in just behind Dear Esther, and thats one of my favourite games of this genre.
After a while you do get attached to these little badger pups and when I lost my first one to that stupid eagle... lets just say now I hate eagles. It is so hard to keep everyone alive and thats what happens in reality and I think this game has captured that perfectly. Although also like most games of this genre I dont think there is much replay value there, and I did get bored after a while, I still think Shelter ranks up there with other tear jerker indie titles.
10/10 from me

I don't know how to explain what it is about this game that I really love. It's unlike anything I've played before and probably never will be anything like it. It didn't cause any motion sickness for me as other people have said they experienced. There is no dialogue, and the music and sounds fit seamlessly together. Although this game is good I wouldn't play it again as it wouldn't be anything new and the expreience is once off. Definitely glad I took the time to play this game. Would recommend it for casual gamers and but not FPS or other fast paced game fans.
