Simple, fun and colourful indie rhythm gamem but if you look into what kinds of custom charts people have made for this game, it actually turns out you can make really complex levels and visuals with the provided building blocks, and suddenly the game isn't simple at all anymore... :D Well, the mechanics beneath the hood may still remain simple tho. XD Lots of good music here too!

A nice little game telling 12 small stories of adventurous journeys, taking path between three routes, each of which will make you choose between two choices, leading to another pair of last choices until you loop back to the beginning, ready to take on another of those 12 stories. :P

The stories are short and the actions simple, but sometimes you'll have to wait a bit as the characters transition from a scene to the next one, but it's not a problem unless you wanted to hurry through the game in a speedrun mindset. XD These stories are clearly meant to be experienced in a more chill way anyways. :3

Graphics are minimalistic, with a clean simple artstyle and it works for this game. There are also cool smooth animations as the stories unfold and we are being taken from one scene to another.

The soundtrack is simple and calm too, comprising mostly of ukulele music with some electronic sounds here and there, and often accompanied with non-verbal singing of voices too. Many sound effects in this game are made a cappella style too, which makes for fun sounds as you interact with your environment! :D

Very unique rhythm game which was designed around the concept of playing a rhythm game via MIDI using an actual DJ controller, although you can also play this game with many other ways too, including the standard KB+M and console game controller methods. The community of this game is extra special for having Pioneer'd some truly extraordinary ways to play the game... how about using an old retired HDD or DVD player's spinning disc as a MIDI controller for the jogwheel mechanism of the game? :D The #unique-controllers channel of Spin Rhythm XD's Discord server truly is a work of some god-tier custom gameplay pioneer art. :D

Anyways, the way this rhythm game's mechanics have been designed around the use of a DJ controller makes the gameplay feel really intuitive and fun when you use an actual DJ controller! :D

The music selections for base game feature less Hardcore stuff and more different kinds of Bass Music songs but you do find a couple of licensed Camellia tracks and honestly the song catalogue is pretty cool. :D And who knows what music gets added in the future, especially with the future DLCs <3 SRXD does also have a very active community making custom charts, though obviously officially you can only do custom charts for the songs already built-in. ;3

Cool little game that was made during a game jam, can be fun to play with a friend or you can fight against CPU in colouring a canvas which acts as the arena for your fights, looking like a page from a colouring book. :P

I have previously 100% completed this game on PS3 and now i decided it's a good time to do the same on Steam since i wanted to use the Steam version's Nature achievement(Bloom 10k flowers) to generate a friend challenge on PlayTracker Quest and to do that you need to have earned it yourself first.

Flower is a game developed by thatgamecompany originally for Sony's PS3 and later ported to PC by Inline Assembly and published here by Annapurna Interactive. On PS3 i bought Journey: Collector's Edition which included thatgamecompany's three most famous games fl0w, Flower and Journey, three minigames made during their internal game jams and looooots of other cool extra content which i definitely recommend checking out if you have got a PS3 and can find a copy of the Collector's Edition disc. I especially loved the developers' commentaries as it's always exciting to see behind the curtains of game development and see how these games come to be the experiences they are! :D Obviously this PC version doesn't have those cool contents(and i wouldn't be surprised if Sony wouldn't want to give permission for "porting" that stuff here too...) but i wanted to mention them because that insight shared via those commentaries and behind-the-scenes material had a big impact in making thatgamecompany one of my favourite game studios since i got to hear about for example the philosophy of their game design(to put it shortly, they really want to make artistic experiences... or something like that. I realise i need to launch my PS3 one of these days and rewatch all those materials. And i also want to replay the games again there and compare the PC and PS3 experiences of Flower and Journey. :P).

The game is pretty relaxing, you just control a gust of wind carrying around petals of various kinds of flowers, making the nature bloom and i guess sort of waking up something in the environment, that's the story in a nutshell. It should give you a nice feel good experience! :D Well, aside from the "danger level"(second last level; or third if we count in the credits level, which we do count in because it's also important part of the experience! :) ), that one can be kind of stressful but i think it's like that for a reason. I tried to get Pure while also blooming all flowers in that level at the same time but ended up just completing that level in two runs, first to get Pure and then to try to bloom as many flowers as possible, ignoring the damage taken during the process. Those electric zap sounds are pretty nasty... ;_;

On my first launch of this PC port, i think i had two issues. One was that the framerate was kinda lagging so i tried to lower the quality quite a lot(well this is also because of my laptop, it's starting to be old tech little by little), also had to lower the grass density because on the default settings some of the grass was, uh, mysteriously flashing into and out of existence somewhere in front of me. XD These weren't that big of a deal to me because low framerates are pretty standard thing for me and i know to fear/expect to come across such things when starting up new 3D games... what i was more concerned about, especially coming from the background of having played the original PS3 game, was that the music was off. It just... kinda stopped playing or didn't even start when i started the first level. I just heard this weird simple drone when i wasn't holding X to give the wind power to move faster, and when i was moving there weren't really any sounds playing... not even the flowers. I'm sure they made sounds when you bloomed them. I checked the forums, searched with "music" and found out there is a bug that causes this and you just need to close the game and start it again. I did that and was pleased to find everything sounded as it should and even the framerate issue was gone too! In fact, the game ran surprisingly well on my laptop which i felt really glad about, the old tech wasn't holding me off from a NICE experience when it comes to the eye candy. :D It would be nice if Inline Assembly/Annapurna will fix that bug, even though it's at least really fast to get around, but yeah... just because some people might not think about checking the forums. And it wasn't even a very recent thread i found in the search results(well, it wasn't on the first page at least lol Sorry i can be lazy sometimes...).

Ah, speaking of music, the ambient music in this game is lovely! The soundtrack is made by Vincent Diamante, i think the music is an important part of this game. Maybe not in such essential way as how music plays its part in rhythm games but in how much the music enhances the feelings brought by the story and the things you do during the game, the joy and... the blooming. :P Every flower makes a sound. And when i talked about "artistic experiences" earlier, on a related note the Credits level is the most innovative and beautiful credit section i have ever come across in a game, and i wonder if i'll ever come to experience one that can top that of Flower's... i don't know, i really loved doing that level again, after having done it on PS3 many many years ago. I'm not going to tell how that level works, perhaps you can imagine how it would work in a game like Flower but... i'll just say it feels really symbolic and perfectly aligns with my attitude towards credit sequences. It's a moment to appreciate those who make the experiences we take in, be it games, movies, books or music. I have a habit of trying to read all names that will appear during credits, and read every single one of them "with thought"/concentration if i can. In movies it's hard if you are watching in a cinema because you can't pause and unpause like you can when watching from a DVD, BD or video file at home. And in cinemas it's kind of awkward if your friends/company already start leaving right as the credits start... but i have made it a habit to stick around until everything has been seen. The credits are part of the experience, and sometimes you get rewarded with something special in the end like some funny blooper or an extra/deleted scene. :D Or something completely meta, brain-twisting, paradoxical... i love those. But that doesn't really happen here and i'm getting sidetracked as i always do... But the nice thing about games is that they are interactive, and that brings whole new possibilities for the implementation of these sequences. It doesn't have to just pass you by, there is a chance to make you an active part of it. Or to let you take your time reading the names properly. :P I really love that credits level... and this whole game. Glad it isn't any worse here on PC either.

PS. Good luck with Pure. I'll admit i ended up looking up a tutorial video on best techniques to survive that level without taking damage. Apparently i didn't manage to avoid the feelings that were still present in my vague memories about that level. :' ) But i think that level is like that for a reason... after all, thatgamecompany intends to create Art, not just games. :3

If you have played through the three Hexcells games and want more, Hexceed is a good choice for that, i think. There's plenty of free levels to see if you like this game and if you do, then you can get more levels by buying the DLCs, which don't cost much. The DLCs have regularly introduced new tile mechanics into the game so it keeps evolving as they bring more content in, so that's pretty nice.

Unlike Hexcells, this game lets you make mistakes and with me coming from those games it kind of bothered me but later ToastieLabs added features like Hardcore mode in the settings which allow you to have the game reset the level every time you make a mistake so i enabled that rightaway after it got added. :D It's also possible to disable the highlight effects of the special mechanic tiles if you want to map out their "clues" by yourself in your head. :P When i tried it first, i wasn't initially sure if i liked it but i quickly got used to the extra work and have kept it like this ever since. X)

The soundtrack is 100% Lofi Hip-hop, which is a genre i haven't listened to much, but i like the music and it fits for a calm minimalistic puzzle where you can just relax and take your time working on those hex-based minesweeper-like puzzles. :)

This game was PlayTracker's free mystery game last month but i didn't manage to earn it since i didn't get a third point in Quest in time. Instead i bought this game in the start of this month's Quest while "Seasons after Fall" still had a discount here on Steam. I'm really glad i did!

No matter which season's power you have activated, everything looks really pretty in this game, and there is a nice mix of Ambient and Orchestral music too, along with some background sounds and ambiance of the places themselves. You can make your fox bark and it sounds really cute, i totally didn't just randomly bark at things or at nothing here and there even at moments when it would do nothing functionally in the game(you use barking to communicate or interact with certain things to solve puzzles). :D Oh and there are bird sounds too, what would a forest be without birds...

The story is really great <3 Sometimes i found jumping between platforms and to higher areas a bit annoying because maybe i timed things off or the fox didn't even properly jump but just walked off the ledge, but i think that might be my laptop not running it optimally, since it definitely wasn't 60FPS level smooth. :D Especially when i was running through sceneries. But FPS was never low enough to cause gameplay problems to me and fortunately didn't disrupt any cutscenes either. Oh, the cutscenes... those animations were done really well, i really loved this game's story!!! :D

If you want to play a beautiful puzzle-platformer game with a nice story and puzzles not too hard or world not too confusing to navigate, this game might be for you(well i recommend this to anybody who wants to see a beautiful game <3). You can discover flowerbeds throughout the world to unlock four concept art images for your viewing and i managed to find them all easily enough without resorting to guides. :D I may have had to use one for the "A bird" achievement though, since i still hadn't achieved it by the time i finished the game's story. I watched that video only far enough to know where to go to wait for it. :) This game was such a beautiful experience to play through it will definitely go into some of my favourite games...

So now that the game has received all 24 levels and i went and redid the old ones(since they were all reset showing 1h in-game records but i had also wanted to try them all again anyways...) as well as did the six new ones from the latest update, and have 100%'d the achievements like... is this my 3rd time now? At least second. Glad i won't have to do this ever again, enough Vietnam flashbacks gained by now. ;3 After all of this(and according to steam this new session of mine took about 3,7 hours, i know i most certainly haven't played twice during the past 2 weeks :P)... i think it's appropriate that i finally give this game a small review.

So what will you find inside this game... as i said in the beginning, 24 levels. Some of them will be fun and easy enough, some can be pretty challenging, and some will likely get on your nerves and make you want to call the game a "kusoge" even though it's clear the dev has put effort into making this game a good game. Certainly, the idea is really genius! As you press keys on your keyboard, the same keys will raise like high blocks on the virtual keyboard on the screen. Using these blocks your task is to do stuff like push balls or cubes to paint other keys, come into contact with other keys, jump through hoops, in one of the last six levels even set the right combination into a combination lock(i thought that one was especially interesting to work with :D)! In another one you'll be setting new keys to missing spots on the keyboard... i hope you won't need to do this IRL too because of the game, though. D: I didn't but i know i did have to take breaks sometimes haha The idea is genius but... the controls... eh, some games just are meant to be difficult, i guess. Just keep in mind that you are likely to find some of these level frustrating because of how the objects respond to your key block manipulations but in the end... you can do it. I did it. All of them. Most more than once by now. Even the Make a Picture one which used to be impossibly annoying hard to do yet i did it. And now that the dev has tweaked that specific level after feedback(i guess i hadn't been the only one having difficulties with it? :P)... i actually somehow got the record time on the Steam leaderboards! <insert the JUST DO IT meme here> What a sweet revenge... Surely somebody will beat it eventually but i shall bask in the glory of being a record holder until then, with my record time of 4m 21s on Make a picture. :D (Also, a hint for that level: if an image tile is touching for example key J with its corner, if you keep tapping J key lightly, it will slowly drag the tile towards it little by little, though be careful not to flip the whole tile when doing this. This technique helped me finish making the picture and bringing the two tiles close enough to each other, and it took me a long time to notice it back then, but this time after the tweak with all the other changes it yet again made things much easier on the third stage so i can thank remembering that old trick for letting me get a record time right on top. :) Good luck~ )

One thing that's really worth noting is that you are stuck with the US keyboard layout(well, recently the game did also get QWERTZ and AZERTY layouts in addition to the QWERTY layout). It probably won't be an issue for US people but for me it was kind of annoying since that right side gets really confusing since my Finnish keyboard has got Å, Ä and Ö keys to the right of P and L, and some symbols are to the right of them, sharing the two keys... So basically every time something managed to flee into that realm of shadows and regret, i had to tap on Backspace or Enter or LShift for some time and hope they will eventually come back to this side of the world... D: ...aaannd then i discovered i could just Win + Space and switch to the US keyboard layout. :DDD Doesn't make what i see IRL match what i see on screen but at least the keys on the right side started to raise the similarly placed keys on screen so... it helps, even if in the future it would be nice to have the keys matching IRL and on screen too. :P Maybe those may get added, it remains to be seen. But take that piece of advice for now, if you, too, have got a keyboard of more international variety than that of US keyboard layout. :) I wonder how much easier or harder this game would be to play on a Japanese keyboard... haha... i wouldn't acquire one just to try it, right? Right, Jan? :P (Also you probably will need to enable the US keyboard layout from Windows' language settings before you can switch between it and your default with Win + Space. Good luck, again... c: )

Oh and the music playing in the background is nice. The songs aren't made for this game but they work well for it. I need to buy that artist's music into my music collection someday... :D

Do i recommend this little indie game? Yes, just so that you too are legally binded(well, not really, but i have to put jokes everywhere... i guess.) to go through the same pain i did, playing through this game and 100% completing it! Besides, the more new players the higher the chance of my record getting beaten... come on, don't let me stay on top forever, i dare you(to not break your keyboard either while playing through this game <3). ;3 Please do take breaks though. For the sake of everyone. :DDD

Short little game/thing with lots of funny and weird twists that can make you laugh(some maybe wtf or eww too)! :D Took me about 59 minutes to finish(view all 72 endings), then i clicked on that one certain button on the menu just to try, for fun, if it would go back into the beginning. It did, except instead of returning to the beginning of the loops it went into beginning progress-wise. :^) Well, it still did go into the start of the loops too hehe But i didn't mind going through all 72 endings just to get all the icons light up again <3 On this second round i saw all 72 endings without missing any before i checked the menu to see if i had got them all! :D I thought i had 100%'d the game by this point but there was one more achievement left to get. Looked around but resorted to one of the guides in the end. :P Should have been able to figure it out but i guess i was lazy(just a little bit).

Also i'll mention that the weird in this game includes a little bit of body horror/mild gore sometimes. :)

Climb up some stairs and enjoy breathing in the fresh, dusty air outside.
Reach the top of the highest tower and ???

The game looks really nice in a hand-drawn way, it looks like all the objects, wood or metal, are made of paper and i think it gives them a stylish look. :D There is a short little story for you to read via the diary pages, obviously read them all(there aren't much, don't worry :P).

And once you reach the top... i liked the ending. :)

(Oh and the brick smiley was a nice touch. Gotta keep positive even in such circumstances. XD Now, time for me to go buy that DLC so that i get to watch the commentary and read the book telling more about the characters. :D)
