This game is effectively an afk clicker game for 90% of the content. You can stand still and it'll take three minutes for mobs to kill you. There is no challenge. No reward. The most you get from this content is the story and lore... Which is the only reason I'm playing.

The remaining 10% is fairly basic MMO stuff. Nothing that stands out as unique.

The amount of toxicity in the player base is too high. You have friendly and helpful players sure... But they are few and far between.

I cannot recommend the game in this state.

The single player campaign is very much lets tell a story... It's a good story with some interesting concepts but it's very clunky.

The simple fact that in order to report cheaters you need the Origin Overlay enabled but having said overlay enabled leads to intermittent input lock ups is a stupid trade-off. What's worse is you cannot just disable the overlay. It's forced and you instead need to delete a file, `igo64.dll`, each time the game updates with more advertising for 2042... Like seriously. We don't need more bloat to a great game and we don't need it to break with each pointless update.

It's 2022. You can't even play on LAN, with a solid connection to the internet that works fine in other games and applications, without Stellaris desyncing. The game can be literally broken with players not able to do anything and it won't even popup with the "desync" message.. It does that randomly. We keep getting more and more DLC and yet this basic functionality has been broken for years. I've yet to find a guide on fixing it, just working around it by restarting your save.

I mean it's halo.. but not really.. It's lacking so many gamemodes, there is no forge, there are so many desync issues, and it's a console port through and through with many buggy settings.

The game is fun for the most part. The issue really stems from when you start getting a larger prison.. the whole game just breaks down. Either you end up with an infinite backlog of trucks, no trucks and workers standing around doing nothing, prisoner intake being broken, cctv/door controls not being manned (even with 50 guards free), etc. The game just becomes a bug fixing or waiting simulator. Money is no issue as long as you don't build or try to expand.

No players and a janky EAC that trips randomly.

Where do I start?

The best way to explain Destiny 2 is that it's a looter shooter with some of the best gunplay out there and there is a lot of stuff to do.

Performance... is weird. So Bungie, while optimising the game really well, decided that we aren't allowed to have nice things like performance overlays and all that. Which is a shame given that the game does have issues:

1) Even if you can maintain over 144fps in most areas of the game there is the Tower and Gambit where you are easily looking at 72fps or even as low as 40fps. For these areas to cut FPS in half for no apparent reason is silly.. but for an activity like gambit to absolutely tank down to less than a third of my FPS while staring at a wall is honestly the stupidest thing. Similar activities like escalation protocol don't have this issue. Temps and clock speed are fine.

2) Peer-2-peer. The second issue you will face is that the game uses p2p for everything which normally isn't too bad... and then there's gambit. (Should be clear by now that Gambit is honestly trash but sadly you need to do it for multiple quests) - Of course, there are still instances in other gamemodes where you are put up against people with bad connections...

3) Connection issues... I mean sure. Getting connection issues is a normal thing from time to time... but when it's just one game and you follow all the rubbish guides they provide you? Yeah no. If all other games work fine while streaming multiple 4k videos and it's your game having issues and a load of people are reporting the same thing... It's not our connections. Please attempt to fix the server issues already.

4) Oh sure... Place me, alone, against a full team of guardians when I want to play survival.. and then punish me for wanting to leave. Honestly becoming stupid now.

Edit- Status of Destiny 2 in 2020.

Performance after the release of Season of Dawn is even worse. Getting 70fps in many activities with major stuttering. Further issues surrounding numerious bugs and other issues. SoD was rushed.

Edit2 - A patch with a few performance fixes came out... It actually made things worse. How utterly incompetent are Bungie?

The game doesn't work correctly in fullscreen and it cuts off the bottom and right side of the screen. There's a constant discord invite link which I can't get rid of. Game keeps stuttering and takes ages to load assets in (even while on an NVMe SSD).

Early Access Review
Pavlov is like Counter Strike in VR. It doesn't have the Physics like Boneworks or other VR shooters but it has multiplayer. Custom gamemodes, maps, etc. really let this game shine.

Now what doesn't shine is the toxicity of the community, which isn't uncommon, but also the developers. For a time I was willing to ignore this aspect of the game and it's development however when you can't even report bugs and issues without a Development team member responding with some toxic statement you have to draw the line.

The game is fundamentally restricted by it's toxic community and that won't even begin to change unless the dev team do too.

I just want to get to the main menu so I can setup my game... but no. Forced tutorial the second you start the game up.
