Early Access Review
Unfortunately pretty much unplayable on linux at this time.

Highest frame rate achievable for me on my setup is still well below 20fps it seems.
A couple of graphics options immediately crash the game, such as choosing FXAA as the AA solution.

For such a lengthy Shader Optimization step I had hoped for a lot more there.

As soon as this changes as Qanga continues to develop, I will update this review.

pretty good, a refreshing modern version of Sanctum 2 I'll say, with meh but alright story, a lot more out of loop progression, building and crafting elements.

It's got some bugs, such as voicelines being out of sync, but it didn't distract me *too* much. The most egregious is Risk incident card descriptions not being scroll-able, which means one has to guess what the bad part of a card is. Simply not picking those is generally the safe option anyway though (but boring on lower difficulties later in the game xD).

Overall it's a good timesink, allows for different play styles and seems to encourage trying different ways quite nicely too.

Cons:
- Played so much I forgot to study for exams

Master the art of automation
This is what the description of the game starts with. This is highly misleading, you can find a developers response confirming this in reviews.
This is a simulator first and foremost, with automation being the after thought and explicitly not focus of the game. It is intentionally impossible to reasonably automate the game from the start and requires a LOT of very manual and tedious clicking.

At the time of writing, I have not yet managed to reach T2, what would be needed to unlock the start of actually useful automation. The tutorial, while nicely voiced, is long and each completed step kicks off an unnecessary long cut scene. This feels like a simple delay tactic to get beyond Steams 2h limit for refunds.

I do not recommend.

The first part of the game, manually scavenging for basic resources, in order to reach automation and space-rig movement, takes WAY too long. I gave it a honest try, and despite my time invested, was not able to reach what I would consider the core gameplay loop from what I've seen in-game in terms of blueprints.

Seems like a moving space-rig platform is part of the offer, yet reaching it requires 5k in credits just to unlock the 2 basic blueprints for it. To put this into perspective the basic sellables the game suggests you use to reach this, are steel and perhaps corn, both of which usually sell for something like 20. That means that if the player completely ignores any other thing and fully invests into just that, they'd need to sell... 250 of those... Keep in mind that for steel one needs to farm 2 iron and 1 carbon, which takes a good bit even when there's lucky trash floating around nearby, which is very quickly exhausted, requiring lengthy expeditions to planetoids or whatever those are, moons? Corn requires carbon and oxygen to craft the seeds, requires the player to water it twice, and takes some time to grow.

I may be hard on the game, considering it's an early access title, but if it's not possible to touch upon core elements of the game within the first 2h(!!!) of playing, that's a pretty bad sign. There are many ways to fix this, such as offering one-time components for these, before the player has "researched"/bought the components, easing entry with lower price requirements, difficulty levels or more supportive quests to gain the required credits. As it stands, as other reviews have pointed out, it is extremely grindy and doesn't feel rewarding whatsoever.

Pretty good, quite enjoyable to play even for hours;
repeatable plenty of times, runs don't feel repetitive, due to multiple characters, character loadouts, plenty of run/rule modifying "artifacts" and a pretty healthy mod community on top it seems

I can definitely recommend RoR2

Lack of EAC proton support, has been like this for years

Finally properly works, just when they announce Smite 2, oh well

Yes, this is an early access title going into it's 6th year now. True to its name, it keeps getting updates in what's seemed to be extremely solid intervals. Yes, things break, like multiplayer issues recently, things get removed and changed, but for the relatively little time I've been keeping up with this game, considering its lifetime so far, I'm very positively surprised and and personally enjoy the game and thoughts of where it might be going.

Not perfect, but very well made, thought out.

It's a challenge in (mostly) the right ways, that makes it rewarding to complete the levels and keep tinkering.

A strong recommendation for anyone interested in learning about lower levels of programming or computers.
Warning: Requires a tinkering spirit

Before, I'd have very much recommended this, but with the recent policy of completely stomping on mods and users, I can't earnestly recommend this to any of my friends.

Among these mods are QOL features that should have been part of VRC for years, performance increasing mods, personal safety mods.

If this is purely done to reduce API load on VRCs side, then there would have been other, better options to deal with the situation. This is arguably one of the worst.

This review may change in the future.
