Early Access Review
If you have friends and you all have a sense of humor, this will likely be the funniest video game you've ever played together. Just had a ~4 hour session with 4 friends, I'm going to be sore tomorrow from laughing.

Solid game, strongly recommend to stick with the main storyline if you don't have near unlimited time. Not that the side stuff is bad, there's just so much of it. While it can be very action heavy, if you put points and gear toward a major assassination build you can really do substantial damage in a short time. Like Origins it is a departure from the AC playstyle, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Though I do miss jumping from the tops of cathedrals to stab dudes in the neck. Maybe one day we'll go back.

This game makes me wish there was a maybe option. It's an interesting game that tells a story that is...vague. If you want something that wraps things up neatly in a bow, look elsewhere. If you want a unique game with some great music and a few truly memorable scenes, this might be worth checking out. I'm not sure if I'm just stupid or missing something, but the claims that this is the game of the decade are...far fetched? I'm all for hyperbole, but yeah, no.

Fantastic game. I had microstuttering issue and gave up on it with two hours a couple years ago. On a whim I tried again, dropping certain settings until the problem went away, and then I dove in.

Play this game. Even if you just want to play it on easy, the mechanics of the world, paired with a great story, make it well worth your time and money. You'll never look at coffee cups or extra stools the same way again.

It's been out a while, but still holds up. Combat is solid, the narrator is great, and the music is among the best in video games. Took a little while for me to get into the story, but absolutely loved it by the end.

I really enjoyed the game. The story took a little bit to draw me in, but once it did I was on board. The puzzles were mostly clever without being obtuse, though, being able to skip cutscenes after you've seen them once would greatly improve the experience. The music is fantastic, and the story is touching.

Enough is enough with the crashes. The game is decently fun, it's got the right level of goofy, and combining weapons and vehicles is better than it should be. But I've now experienced double digit crashes/freezes, and that's enough with only about 2.5 hours of play. I got it from the Humble Monthly, so I've already got my money's worth, but I wouldn't recommend anyone buy it until it gets fixed - and seeing it's already more than a year old, I'm not going to bet that fix is actually coming. Some people don't seem to have the crashing problem, but it appears many do. You could always buy it, and refund in the first two hours if you are one of the many.

Having just wrapped up the game, I'd say overall I enjoyed it.

It's a fun world to mess around in. I wouldn't say it's a great game. But if you want an open world game where you can shoot people, explore a bit, do some hunting, watch your bear friend maul bad dudes, reach out and poke a baddie with a 50 cal, fly a helicopter, and not care about the story, you probably want to play Far Cry 5.

I didn't have any crashes (6600k and a 1070 playing on a 1440 G-sync monitor), and I really appreciated how thorough the checkpoint system was the couple times I died, but the level of jank throughout the game was exceptional. I think Skyrim on consoles launched cleaner.

At one point early on, my handgun was nearly out of ammo, but it wouldn't allow me to buy more. I had to use my last three bullets before it auto spawned more. Don't get me started on the Guns For Hire interactions with each other, and how glitchy they were. I was flying around listening to two women talk in the back of the helicopter, and if I moved the mouse, at all (literally), it would set the conversation back 10 seconds. Didn't help I'd heard that conversation to completion more than a few times.

There are a number of flaws with this game, and if it ain't your jam, I don't fault you a bit. Overall I enjoyed it more than FC3 or FC4, but I've definitely got my fill. Near the end I was very much ready for it to be over. I played FC4 about 3.5 years ago, and after having done quite a bit in this game, I'm easily good for another 2-3 years until I need to do this all over again.

Last thing, the story is far and away the weakest part (I actually liked the story less than the jank), and I'm usually very big on story. It starts out good, and very tense, but then it just...goes all the way up its own ass. The structure of having checkpoints within each zone, which triggers a repetitive story mission - I was fed up near the end. A buddy of mine bounced off the game having played less than 10 hours (and half of that was probably in my game), and he may be smarter than I.

If you can play with someone else, do so. It'll make the bad story more of a background thing, and let you have fun with friends. And there's a mountain of that in this game.

It's odd. The music is cool, the puzzles/whatever you want to call it were more zany/irreverant than others in this genre. The graphics are definitely out there, the game's aesthetics are...unique for sure. Not an amazing game, but definitely a cool one. There are many worse ways to spend 90-120 minutes.

I'm not sure why I waited so long to play this game. I'd heard great things, but didn't look too closely. I don't know if it was the cover art that made think it was something it was not, but it was just one of those games that I thought "Yeah, I'm sure I'll play it eventually. I'll grab it on a sale." Then the fall sale happened, I pulled the trigger, and proceded to not bother playing it.

I was an idiot.

There's so much to unpack here and I'm not going to try. Just trust me. This is a great game. This deserves to get played by damn near everyone. If you played their previous game, The Unfinished Swan, you really should play this. REALLY.

In a year jam packed with amazing video games, this one may have snuck in at the eleventh hour to be my favorite. It's certainly the one that's going to stay with me the longest.
