Early Access Review
Good translation of 5e D&D; is like a love child between older cRPGs and Divinity. The combat system at first seems clunky but thats honestly just 5e. The 1st area is a giant sandbox that lets the player experiment and test/push there character's limits against the game's systems. Pretty fun overall RPG and a good successor to the Baldur's Gate name. I'd recommend any RPG fan try it out...

That being said don't buy it yet, while Larian is one of the most trustworthy studios out there right now there is still a good bit missing and more importantly the multiplayer needs to be iron out to be a smoother experience (desyncs/disconnects and hard crashes). A number of 5e features are missing such as some classes, class specializations and multiclassing.
The last minor gripe is that at the time of writing this the game only has 1 act, this is a minor gripe though and this is also how Divinity's early access was, think of it as buying into a beta test with the promise of a full product down the road.

Don't normally write reviews but since this game has been recieveing a lot of flak I thought I should give my two cents.
I was hesitant on buying it with a $40 tag, but now that I've played the game the price can sort of be justified.

TLDR; see bottom

The Gripes:

- Call it luck of the draw but I always spawn by objectives; meaning that I would have Jason teleport to me in the beginning. So in order to not die I had to learn the spawn habits of weapons and get good at fighting and fleeing. Getting down and dirty with Jason is really fun. The issue with combat is the viability of using the game's "combat stance" when fighting Jason. If Jason doesn't feel like fighting he is going to go in for a grab kill. Many of the kills having a quick activation and can result ina "instant kill". I use instant kill loosely because if you prepare with items or run away effectively (or even break is grasp) you can avoid grab-happy Jasons. Shift-Grabbing also is an affect of grabbing being so much better than fighting, I think this could also be resolved if combat stance gave a way to fight back against grabs.

- While I love the fact that when I search for a game it takes 30 seconds most. I don't like being matched in a server where I have 200 ping. Shout outs to the Russians I was just playing with; we almost killed J-man and it was a lot of fun... but I would like to play on a server where I have acceptable ping.

- Without playing as Jason it's not really clear how he can sense movement, fear, loud noises and sound cues. So my first few games I was left wondering, how does he know I'm hiding where ever I am.

- Personally not a big fan of rolling for perks. Not only do i have to roll for perks out of how ever big the perk list is, but I also have to roll for the stats the perks give me? That's a little bit excessive.

The Goods:

- A lot of games try to tote the mantle of asymmetric multiplayer but this game tries it's heart out, and in a way succeeds. While there are only 3 maps with 3 victory scenarios, this game is more about the journey than the destination. The spawn locations of all objectives seem to be pretty varied (although I have noticed trends with this and this --->). On top of that gear and supply spawns are spawned randomly around the map. This can result in a lot of replayability for me, if I'm on the run and I need to take a breather I baracade a house and scan the house. I have to then come up with a plan to get out of the mess I'm in. That for me results in a lot of shenanigans, some times I find a gun, other times I desperately throw fire crackers at Jason. There is a certain depth to dancing the tango with Jason.

- The game has many different ways to play with the amount of couselors and Jasons to play. The stats can alter the way a person plays the game. One person can play as the "fighter" of the group while others sneak around the map, sometimes never being found. On the other side of the coin Jason has many different characters to play. While not as varied as counselors each feel unique in their own way. Some really excel and running survivors down while others can cover a broader more effectively. I could go on and on about this but I'm sure others can dive into this better than me.

- The interactions with other plays have been the funniest I've had in a good bit. Because most of the victory scenarios only have so many seats for people, not everyone can take that way out (Except police escape but that is fun in it's own way). In one game I met a person and we decided to team up, I gave him some extra med-spray to celebrate. We go over to finish fixing a car (of which I had the keys to). A big group of us meets up and Jason smashes the car that we just repaired. Suddenly a 5th person showed up and takes my seat, leaving only one seat for me and my friend. I then decide
it's me or him and proceed to fight him for the seat. After beating him up and taking the seat the car gets broken again and then we both grab the backseats of the car. The whole car then breaks into laughter as we floor it to the exit.

- Summary of this ^^^:
Interactions with people can create some of the best moments ever.

Actual opinion:

Meh, its pretty gud m8. If it gets some refinement could be amazing. Pick this game up with some friends.
