This game has come a long way, and with steam workshop players are keeping it alive. There's a high learning curve to start off. Finding a knife will guarantee you're able to keep your hydration and energy up. Check it out if you like hardcore survival games.

Note: I strictly play on the DayOne community servers that have no base building. Different modded servers will have different experiences and playstyles. The DayZModLauncher is a must imo.
