I really enjoyed Lords of the Fallen; I play a lot of Souls-likes and something about this game gets that itch to figure out multiple builds and run multiple playthroughs. I understand that some people have had a rough time with it, and I understand those worries, but it also feels as though the developers have been very quick to adjust for feedback that they're getting. The splitting of PVE and PVP in terms of effectiveness of magic and weapons came very quickly, and I was seeing a lot of things that we ran into in our run patched very soon after we ran into them, likely from feedback of other players.

I will say my only complaint is that it feels easy to get locked out of certain quests and things, in some cases by playing too well (i.e beating a boss earlier than expected). I don't know how you would go about adjusting for that to be honest, but it is a bit of a bummer to find out we'd have to replay through to get access to some things because we had already locked ourselves out of certain events.

One of those games that even when you've played through every map a ton of times you still end up coming back to it after a certain amount of time. They're still updating it, and look, sometimes it's REALLY janky, but some of those janky moments have also made for some of the best weird gaming stories. Excited for the prospects of Payday 3.

Early Access Review
Slowly shift from being scared of ghosts as they grudge in your ear, whisper sweet nothings to you, close doors, turn off lights, and attempt to murder you to sprinting through a house screaming the ghost's name at the top of your lungs telling it to fight you. It's a lot of fun, but really needs to be played with friends. It has a good amount of jank, but the developers are working a lot on it and very clear as to what they're working on. I enjoy it a lot.

I recommend this game, but you really have to know what you're getting into. I wouldn't play New Dawn directly back-to-back with Farcry 5, because it's going to feel stale; waiting a bit and returning has a fair balance of recognizable locations with a new twist but doing it too quickly will likely just feel like 'Oh, it's this again.' The crafting/collecting to build up the base is a bit slow, it definitely has drawbacks, but it also has the Farcry random shenanigans that causes a lot of people to gravitate towards the series in the first place. Not an amazing entry, but if you're looking for more Farcry and it's been a while, it's a good pick.

While I feel that this is a great game, and opened up a lot of doors in terms of game development, I do feel that it's lacking in some regards. It's generally viewed as the most difficult of the Dark Souls games, so be prepared for that. However, it is a bit unforgiving besides just difficulty. The controls at time seem intentionally difficult or janky, making it feel less like the game itself is difficult and more that not enough care was made on responsiveness, even with a controller (which is highly recommended). This is generally more smooth in later games, and may just be some shakiness early on in the series.

While there is an emphasis on non-linearity, it's only really linear in one aspect and not the other. It's non-linear in that there are short side paths and you can technically go to any spot at any time. However, if you attempt to go anywhere besides the way that the game wants you to go first, you'll almost certainly get thrashed (players will mention those foolish enough to go to the cemetary first). Yes, you can go that way, but you essentially won't be able to progress because it expects you to go through the other regions first, making sections more of synthetic non-linearity than the actual ability to go to any area in any order.
