As an avid Dota 2 player, I couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and trepidation when the Frostivus event rolled around. While the core gameplay remains as engaging as ever, the shadow of disappointment looms large, thanks to the questionable decisions surrounding microtransactions and lootboxes.

Let's start with the positives. The gameplay during Frostivus maintained the high standards we've come to expect from Dota 2. The holiday-themed maps and special events injected a festive spirit into the matches, creating a momentarily enchanting atmosphere.

However, any sense of joy was quickly extinguished by the abysmal state of microtransactions and lootboxes. Valve's decision to emphasize these money-grabbing schemes felt like a slap in the face to the loyal player base. The lootboxes, once a charming addition to events, have devolved into shameless cash grabs, leaving players feeling exploited and frustrated.

The sheer randomness of the lootbox contents, coupled with the exorbitant prices, makes it clear that profit takes precedence over player satisfaction. It's disheartening to see a once-respected game succumb to the all-too-common pitfalls of predatory microtransactions.

Not only are the items locked behind a paywall, but the duplicate rates are infuriatingly high (lvl 1 90% drop rate - Arcana 1:300.000 ), leaving players with little to show for their hard-earned money. The joy of unwrapping a virtual gift during Frostivus has been replaced by a bitter taste of regret.

In conclusion, while Dota 2's core gameplay remains a shining example of the MOBA genre, the Frostivus 2023 event tarnishes the overall experience. The blatant focus on profit-driven microtransactions and lootboxes overshadows the holiday cheer, leaving players questioning whether the spirit of Frostivus has been replaced by the spirit of greed.
