To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Black Mage. The rotation is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of pure mathematics most of the jokes will go over a typical standard rotation enjoyer's head. There's also Yoshi-P's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - his personal philosophy draws heavily from Erotic Role Play literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these rotations, to realize that they're not just Fire IV- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Black Mage truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the mathematical optimization in Chobi's signature rotation "F4/F4/F4/F4/T4P/Triplecast/Flare/Manafont/F4/Flare", which itself is a cryptic reference to the rotation during the add phase in "The Unending Coil of Bahamut (Ultimate)". I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated SMN players scratching their heads in confusion as Golden Bahamut's genius unfolds itself on their television screens.
