The writing? Perfection. The cinematography? Genius. The heartache? Unforgivable.

Early Access Review
I enjoyed this game when it first came out! Played it with friends. The replayability started to waver, sure, but with recent changes, the playability in general is non-existent. I highly recommend not purchasing this game.

Early Access Review
I want to start out by saying, first and foremost, THANK YOU WRITERS. This is one of the best-written RPGs of all time and it's not even out of Early Access yet. The best part of this game is the character variety and depth--by far. Now, onto specifics for those of you wondering if this is the game for you; I will start with the good and move to the ugly.

Gameplay:
The fights in this game are turn-based, and there's something so enjoyable about eldritch blasting or thorn whipping someone off a cliff. If you're a fan of Divinity titles, this game will bring you the same--if not more--joys with which you are already accustomed. There are multiple opportunities within the first act (which is all that is out currently) to alter the events and outcomes of your campaign.

Graphics:
I had mentioned Divinity, but like, this game's graphics are just way out of Divinity's league. So if you were okay with that, this game will blow you out of the water. The environment is stunning, the character models are gorgeous, and they actually zoom in during conversations and have moving mouths--we all know the struggles in games without mouth mapping.

Customization:
You can literally change your look so much in character customization that you can make any of your elves look Drow if you want their aesthetic but not their roleplay backlash honestly. Like, you can change your skin, eye, and hair color to anything from purple, blue, pink, etc. Whites of your eyes bringing you down? Make those black instead! And again, you can customize your party and interactions so much that you can really characterize the protagonist that you're playing as (at present, you cannot play as the party members, but in the future I believe they have plans to let you play as them).

Honestly I could keep going with the pros, but the last one I'll list before moving to cons is multiplayer. Even in early access, my friends and I can party up together. I think two players is the best number so that you can each bring along your romance interest or your fave party member.

Cons:
It's not completely out or available yet!

No but also, I definitely think this game isn't for you if you're not a fan of roleplaying or you don't like to get into stories. If you're more about combat, this game might not be for you. This game rewards you for roleplay, ingenuity, and exploration. If those things aren't for you, I wouldn't buy this game. But if those things are for you? Welcome.

Some friends and I were looking for a fun game we could play with one another online while using discord. This game was perfect. We were all on a team vs the killer, played by some random stranger, and loved to troll them and wreck them. When we aren't playing together, we all play as killer solo. Sometimes we all come together to play a 5 man custom game where one of us is killer. Very versatile game, very fun, and the more you play, the more you are rewarded. Highly recommend.

The good the bad and the ugly.

So I just want to start by saying I'm so glad this game exists. It is truly a wonderful game for any fan of horror games or for any gamer who is invested in the story and narrative of games. I remembered seeing it YEARS ago and wondering about getting it, but at the time I didn't have anything to play it on, and then it went on sale for 2 dollars (though I would happily pay probably up to 30 for this game--40 if I was a bigger fan of the Alien franchise).

The good:
The art and the style of this game are superb. You are in the classic retro futurism scene where you're aboard an amazing and futuristic spaceship--but there are old-fashioned computers (pre-Windows-OS) and tape recorders/answering machines (the ones you used to buy separately from a phone?) everywhere. The atmosphere of this game is truly wonderful. You might not be in any "true" danger at times, but you can't help but feel that any moment is going to be your last. There are wonderful backstory snippets for you to piece together throughout the game with clues and hints of what is to come in the game as well.

The bad:
I want to stress that this isn't necessarily "terrible" but it's worth mentioning that the controls can feel a bit awkward at times. I'm pretty sure they just wanted a lot of simple tasks to feel like mini quick time events in order for you to fear for the time it might take you to do something and to make you feel the same "oh no oh no oh no" that the character is feeling as she struggles to open the door. There is a bit of fighting in this game, but again, this is a horror game first and foremost, so the fighting is not meant to make this game into a shooter or a brawler by any means--so if that's what you're looking for, this is not that game.

I would say this is probably the worst of the Borderlands franchise so far, but alas, it is still a good time if you're a fan of the series.

This game is truly a delight. The characters in this feel fairly fleshed out and I find myself wanting to play this game in a solo playthrough to learn more about the characters, which is not the original reason I bought this game (to play with friends) and one of the first games to pull me into solo play for this reason in my life!

If you aren't able to have your in-person meetups with D&D pals, then go ahead and try this game on for size. Its combat system is VERY similar to D&D's.

I played this game first on console, but after switching over to PC, I had the chance to replay this game after years. I definitely recommend it to those who still enjoy character and story driven games, and the controls aren't terrible, but I will admit that it is a bit dated for me by now, and the latest game in the series has vastly improved the mechanics, but if you want the FULL experience of an AMAZING series, this is a great place to start.

I'll always love you, Zevran.
