Definitely the most cozy and relaxing game this year! Been making a whole city with a small village outside its walls in about 3 days and am really happy with the results. Building and making things pretty is really easy, once you have an idea in mind. Especially the "Daily Themes" are really helpful if you can't think of something yourself, which happens often.

Can recommend this game to everybody who needs a game to relax from time to time.
You can pet the sheep and ducks in this game, 10/10!

10/10 if you like storm chasing, movies like TWISTER ('93) or are fascinated by severe weather and storms:
This is for you.

Also, you can get picked up by a tornado and learn how to fly. 10/10 would drive too close to an EF4 again.

Okay, so i've held off my Review for some time, since I wanted to really see everything the game had to offer.

First, thank you to Luka and the whole Team of Untitled Studio for lending us a key through Keymailer.
When i first saw the game i was very interested because it fits perfectly in the kind of building simulations that I play over on my german Twitch-Channel IsiTheFox [www.twitch.tv] !!!

And i was not disappointed for one second. My community loved the game, i know of a few that already bought the game very quickly during my first stream of TavernMaster, which i thought was very cool. To be able to share the joy of this game with many others.

What i really like about the game and what's a big selling point for me is the simplicity in terms of looks, while still being graphically "modern" so to speak.
The food-rating system is very good, selling more of the same type of food essentially upgrades it from 1 Star to 5 Stars and with higher rating comes more Gold, because the price automatically rises.

Kind of the same goes for drinks. The more "potential" customers you can get, the higher your prices can be.
Example: You expect 400 Customers but only have enough seats and tables for 200. You can now raise the price for drinks until the customer expectancy is closer to your max seating.

This technique potentially only fills your tavern once, but for a higher price. Adding more and more seatings and decorations will raise your income again which for me allowed our Stream-Tavern to have around 700k Gold when we reached the former last 2 Research-Options. (Endless Kitchens and the 4th floor)

I can highly recommend the game, since not only the music but also the atmosphere is the most relaxing i felt in a long time. The best part for me is that the ambient noise is dynamic. The more customers you get, the louder your tavern gets. It's not just one loud mess of noise but it actually changes based on customers. That's amazing!

I love that the devs actually listen to feedback, even though i would've been completely fine with the game how it is (aside from more decorations).
What's even better is the fact that they not only listen but combine new and old.
Many people asked for a higher difficulty and there's one common mistake i see a lot of devs make:
To raise difficulty alltogether but not introduce different Difficulty-Settings for people to choose from, for the more relaxed type of players.

"Untitled Studio" actually solved this by now introducing different difficulties. That's amazing.

They're pretty active on Reddit too which is even better, although i don't use Reddit much.

During our Stream we also had the idea to build a new tavern after we've reached "the end" basically. So after everything was researched, after every event was held and after our indoor balconies (I don't know how to include Screenshots so i might share a picture or a link in an answer to this review) were finished, we decided to set a challenge for ourselves.

Split a Tavern in half with the right side being significantly smaller and only for drinks while the bigger left side would be the hotel part. "Speedrun" the research for "Hotel" and have our main income be the Hotel. Like a good old Inn.

Now why am i telling you this, when the Review is already pretty long?
Because the building space wasn't enough. Everything looked kinda cramped together.

With Update 1.1, they made the building space bigger, one big row on each side. Doesn't sound like much, but is actually a lot. And there's more and bigger space to come!

It's safe to say that i'll look into every next update and update this Review accordingly.
I really love this game so far and from the concept art and the "Catastrophes" like fire and stuff... consider me very, very interested!

Cheers,
Isabella the Fox!

Okay so, the first time i wrote this review was over a year ago.
The last time you were able to read this i was very upset, angry, disappointed but above all else a little quick on the draw. I lacked critical thinking and wrote a very harsh negative review. No strong language there, but still very harsh.

I'm going to change my review today, so first off i'd like to apologize to the developers for the past review. Not only did i not provide constructive feedback, i also didn't even bother to reply to the answer they left behind below this review last time, which in hindsight wasn't helpful and pretty rude.

So to make up for it i have 2 Points today:

First point:
Last time i talked about tools not working (nets, longlines, etc.) if set on sea, saved the game and reloaded. That's fixed now! They're savefile persistent!
At least i didn't encounter anymore bugs like that!

You'll also notice that i wrote the negataive review after about 11-12 hours of gameplay.
Now, i've played the last couple of days and have now almost 40 hours of playtime under my belt. That has a reason!
Many other small bugs that i've found and didn't bother to list (the last review was a LOT!) are also not there anymore.

Second point:
One bug that still exists is the "random" flipping of trawlers after setting your trawlnet!
But this time, in the spirit of constructive feedback, i think i've found a possible culprit for that.

Two things! First off, when using the arrow keys to control the trawl doors sometimes they don't seem to respond! Now i write 'seem' and that's got a reason. On the Scanmar Screen at the backseat you don't see them reacting sometimes. I'm still not sure if you have to hold down the keys or repeatedly press them because of that.
But the point i wanna make is that i suspect they do in fact react, the Scanmar Screen just doesn't show it properly.

Second thing: Why would i assume that? Here's my reasoning. When you overstress the net, for example because you turn without hauling the net and then setting again after the turn when a big whale is in the way, the net will react to that. It will turn and twist.
The Scanmar Net-Camera will show that on screen!
When i overuse the doorcontrols extensively, thinking the doors didn't react because the screen shows me they didn't, most times (not everytime, but 4 times out of 5, i've tested... trust me, i've tested and it hurt :c ) it is exactly after this that my trawler flips on its side.
So my suspicion is that this possible overuse causes stress on the net, which then in turn the physics engine can't handle properly and which finally causes the game to react the only way it can when the net would theoretically be almost upside down.
It simply turns the ship on its middle axis in a direction the physics engine can pick up from again, reorienting the net. Now, a similar behaviour can be observed when not reacting to whales or buoys in your line of trawling. Your net can get caught which causes the ship to overstress.

Thankfully trawlnets don't take damage (anymore?!) from that, i'm not sure if they ever did. I seem to recall they could be damaged but that might've been Barents Sea. So at least this doesn't set you back a couple of thousand dollars to get your net fixed.
ALSO: At least to me, this bug only happened on the Deckster.
Neither Hermes nor Lunar Bow seem to be affected by this bug.
The doors still don't seem to react to my inputs everytime i want them to, according to the door panel that you can pull up on screen, but at least those nets seem to be big enough that the game has less problems handling that, i think.
Haven't tested the smaller pelagic trawler, but maybe it's only with the smaller ones because of netsize.
But this whole assumption bases around the fact that i seem to recall reading, that in Barents Sea the nets were not "physically present" while trawling but in North Atlantic they are now a physically calculated object behind your ship.
If that is not true then i still don't know why it keeps happening.

But hey, the bright side is that there MIGHT be a reason for this happening and there MIGHT be a way to fix that, but i'm not a developer so i wouldn't know how to fix this.

I'm gonna close up this review with this:
Last time i wrote i'd never change this review to a positive one, last time i simply wrote in anger.

I'm gonna change this review now, since i can finally say that i do in fact recommend this game, IF this is in your ballpark of interests. If you like simulator games, if you like games revolving around fishing, this game is for you.
It will entertain you, maybe even teach you some things about sealife behaviour.
I can also recommend the first DLC, Snowcrabs and Lobsters are two species i often go back to. (They also fixed a small little thing that was breaking your ships behaviour when travelling to fast while hauling cages ;D)

Haven't played the Scallops-DLC yet, but i'll check that out in the future!

I hope this lengthy feedback was helpful, i don't know how reviews work on the developers side of Steam, so i don't know if MISC is gonna see the changes i made and the feedback i left, but my hopes are high.

Until then, see ya in the North Atlantic!

Early Access Review

Absolute Spielempfehlung!

I would recommend this game and wouldn't recommend it at the same time.

To explain this a little bit better:
I can only speak for myself and i wouldn't ever dare to write such ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ as "if you bla bla then you should buy" because that's up to every individual to decide for themselves.

I personally liked every DoW game. The DoW 2 game was...different...but likeable in it's own ways. For me at least.
I really like the Warhammer 40000 franchise and it's no difference for me if it's Down of War or Total War: Warhammer or something else...the part i really like is that you get to build your base, get into higher escalation-levels which build up the tension and guide what you can do. At least regarding the ability to build some of the units.

I like the hero-system very much. The gameplay differs very much when you play only with normal units and suddenly there's an "Imperial Paladinknight" rushing towards the enemy orcs, splitting them in half with his gigantic sword.
The amount of micro-management later in the battles are really nice.

There are only three factions playable:
-Space Marines
-Eldar
-Orc

But that's part of the lore of the game and that it takes place on Acheron. I think maybe there will be more of the famous factions available in the future. I could imagine that they'll make them available through DLC's.

In my opinion and to me specifically this game is much fun!

Like i wrote before, i can't tell you "if you bla, then you should bla..." but you should watch a few gameplay videos on the internet. And then you can make your own decision based on your own opinion. Just please don't jump on the "this a moba...this ♥♥♥♥..."-Train without thinking for yourself.

So the only conclusion is:
-Get your own opinion
-Look especially if the multiplayer-mode suits you, because currently there's only one gamemode for MP and you have to like it or hate it...it's "special"
-The campaign is a rotation between all three factions, starting with Space Marines, Mission 2 is Orcs and the third is Eldar. With the fourth the rotation starts again. One after another.
-The Unitsystem and the doctrines for your army are very different.
-The Herounits are likeable and their abilities unique and different. Some are supporters and some are bombers...some are warriors and some are AoE-Heroes. But all of them are more like in Warcraft 3 or DoW 2.

Lookup videos in the internet and make up your mind. Then you know for yourself.
I personally recommend it because i like it obviously. So i'm just another person in the statistics that really likes the game.
