After the final shot, I don't think I've ever been as emotionally exhausted as I have in any other game.

Maybe the real Silksong were the grubs we saved along the way.

The love-hate relationship that I have with this game makes me question whether I am mentally fit to be a husband. I quit two years ago for the grind. But here I am, the New War has me grinding out old content again.

ffs, stop interfering in my life, Warframe.

If you have a competent PC, then read on. If you're running trash hardware, then wait until Feb.

TL;DR 9/10 The game is a masterpiece of storytelling, the human condition, mortality, and how your life is connected to everyone else.
Graphics: 7/10 - there are areas and NPCs in this game which make me just drop my jaw and stare in awe. There are other areas and NPCs that make me think this game belongs in the PS3 Era. I played the game throughout on Digital Foundry's recommended settings for 1440p (High/Ultra, no ray tracing)
Gameplay: 7/10.
Gameplay is arguably my biggest gripe. Gunplay is fantastic. Every single gun feels unique, punchy, vibrant, and good to use. Just wish there was a bit more variety in the guns. Net running could use a bit more depth, but arguably a very satisfying method of playing the game. Melee is arguably the weakest part of the game. Monowire is the strongest, but the least satisfying. Gorilla Arms and Mantis blades are weaker, but have better feel. Overall, the gameplay mechanics just don't give a sense of depth, not even to the Witcher 3 levels
Story - 10/10
Well, this is where Cyberpunk shines. The last two hours of the game had me so utterly bewildered at the choices in front of me. Cyberpunk forces very difficult choices on you. There are a multitude of endings that I have to unlock, but the one I did unlock just made me realize how utterly broken I felt at the options I had in front of me. The game plays with the concept of mortality, immortality, and what it means to be human in a way I didn't expect from such a flashy genre.
If you're interested in picking this up, I would highly encourage it on a competent PC, after the fixes land. My time was fairly pleasant. I encountered a number of visual bugs, but almost no game breaking or mechanical bugs.

EDIT: In the interest of transparency, I previously gave this game a negative review, changed from my former positive review, because of the Denuvo Anti-cheat issue. Considering that Id has delivered on their promise of fixing that, I can now wholeheartedly recommend this game. The previous negative section has been removed since it is no longer relevant.

Doom Eternal takes Doom 2016's much-beloved formula, and says "What would happen if we added a ♥♥♥♥-ton of cocaine to this?"

That makes the whole game that much faster, that much more frenetic, and also that much more abrasive. That's where you're hearing the negative commentary about certain aspects of the game like the Marauder and platforming.

If you're open-minded with the changes to the game, I would honestly say that all of these are non-issues, and that Doom Eternal is a solid improvement on every angle.

Now, if only Id could resurrect arena shooters too...

Edit: In light of the new patches made available to Game Pass and the Microsoft Store, and abandoning this one, I'm updating this review from my previous negative review.
♥♥♥♥ YOU SQUARE ENIX, PATCH ALL OF YOUR GAMES YOU INTOLERABLE WANKERS. STOP MAKING STUPID LIFE IS STRANGE GAMES, AND STOP HAVING BORING GAMING CONFERENCES.
The game is by far one of the worst ports that I've had the misfortune to come across. The full-screen resolution is automatically upscaled, even on a 1080p display like mine, even though there's absolutely no reason to. The port is atrocious, and the camera actually has NEGATIVE mouse acceleration.

But wait, the PC modding community can fix this! And so I went off to the wonderful halls of NexusMods to find a mod to fix these issues, and Nier:Automata surprises you once again! If the camera and full-screen are fixed, the enemies don't apparently like it, and will jump into parts of the map which are inaccessible to your character, so you can't even kill them to progress through the game.

Shame, people kept telling me how this was one of the best games ever, and all I see is a half-assed port made by a studio that clearly doesn't give a ♥♥♥♥ about PC players at all.

0/10.

Edit: After giving this game a fair shot with a Controller (Xbox Wireless Controller), I'm going to maintain my stance that this game isn't worth it even if the devs paid you to play this game. Absolutely atrocious game that just makes the worst design decisions ever.

Had a rough week at work/school? Need to blow off some steam? My Friend Pedro will blow away all of your worries. The game isn't overly difficult, and provides that mindless instantaneous sense of progress every so often to keep you hooked, just like old-school arcade shooters.
10/10 would recommend.

It's called "Doki Doki" Literature Club because your heart will literally start pounding, wondering if you murdered the girls through your own selfish and hormone-charged actions.

10/10 would guilt trip myself again.
