Wheel of Fortune most consistent mechanic in game. Always gives me the "nope"

I was there when the automatons attacked Malevolen Creek. A simple in and out mission, they said. It will just be some fun in the jungle with the boys, they said. But the boys could not get there. The servers were full. And yet Super Earth needs people willing to jump into the thick of it no matter the odds.



So there I am going solo at night. Decked out in some light armor made of tissue paper. Sporting a shotty and a few nades. A flamethrower on my back, and a few tones of explosives in orbit. Just in case. The odds were stacked in my favor. After a quick tactical insertion and quiet as a mouse arming session, I started moving out under the cover of the night. But then the trees started speaking binary. Apparently, dropping yourself and all your gear from orbit in separate pods ain't as quiet as one would think. But hey, what can you do? Except, of course, take out the flamethrower and light up the jungle with a few precision placed, completely calmly thrown napalm strikes.



After a bit of a struggle, five popsicle replacements deployed from orbit, and a 500kg bomb or two. All the mission objectives were met. Even though the extraction point was never reached, the mission was a success and the automaton communist menace stopped if only for a moment. Even if Malevelon Creek can not be retaken, there will be other times and other places that will need the helldivers.



SO GO EARN YOUR CAPE MAGGOTS AND COME SPREAD SOME FREEDOM!

It was great back then, and it is still great now. The game that started it all, in all its glory.

Great fun. The combat is tight. Progression feels constant. Difficulty modifiers are flexible. There is a story for anyone that wants it. All in all a great experience.

Really hope there is future content for this game.

The game makes you wish you never played it aproximately 10 seconds after you click play.
