I preordered this in 2019 after E3 that year and thought it was vaproware. So it came out of nowhere for me lmao. So far it seems like a linear action game. The world is well made and nothing is offensively bad. So far enjoying it for what it is. It's not a sequel to Bloodlines though. The protagonist is voiced for one.

The zone is HUGE. No wonder this game has so many technical problems, it's ambitious beyond comprehension.

Technical problems aside, because these will get ironed out in due time I'm sure, the story is slow paced. Feels like you're mcguffening around and dungeons(for lack of a better term) drag on a bit.

BUT, everything else is what I wanted from this game. Setting out in a nuclear wasteland where you die very easily if you don't pay attention and creepy things are lurking around at every point.

This is the first time I quit a game because the framerate sucked. It's locked to a maximum of 60 FPS??? Come on. Not in a bullethell shmup where speed and fluidity are absolutely essential to the experience

I bought this being excited for a new game in the genre and it looked like it had some work put into it. For now though, playing it is unpleasant considering how choppy I feel it, and my hardware(RTX 3080, AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX) is more than capable of running this fluidly.

I will change my rating to positive when the performance is improved. I want to like this game I really do

Don't have much to say as of now as I like the game. Just wish it had an English dub. But I'm happy seeing more games come out of Japan even, and I'm not going to dock point just for lack of voice acting

I played the Switch version originally, and I appreciated what it tried to do. It modernized the SMT formula from the battle system, fusions and recruiting; it tried to appeal to Nocturne fans and more than in just obvious ways; it brought some Kaneko designs that were missing in IV(e.g. Pixie and Lucifer) but kept some newer designs that got praised(like Odin's); it also tried to shake up dungeon crawling by making the hubs themselves maze like. However it came up short in a few places. The battles were mostly underwhelming and the story felt hollow, and that's by mainline SMT standard even.

Here comes this port to address all those shortcomings and add some QOL features for the sake of it. The new route is pretty much how you should experience the game. The original route can be done quickly in a new playthrough with NG+. But to get the best playthrough from the get go, just pick to take the Girl's hand in the beginning when asked.

I don't know how to explain it. It starts by following the original story fairly but start drifting further and further as you progress to the point that the story and boss fights become almost distinct. The worlds are still similar but slightly retouched, here and there.

So yes, get this. It makes the original Switch version obsolete and cacadoodoo if you take in performance improvements. The artstyle actually shines through when you can see further than 10 feet away!

I can't play this game. It keeps crashing on my PC. I don't know why. Not to mention voice over doesn't work????

There are so many basic bugs and little from the developers to explain what is happening. I suspect it's a FPS issue, because when I play the game on my weaker PC and it's laggy, everything else works? Maybe have the option to force an FPS? I really don't know. I'm not looking to play this smooth or whatever, 30fps is fine for me, but literally just make it playable please.

I'll reevaluate the game once we get some patches and stability fixes, because there does seem to be a lot of love put into the game. They even have the Arabic dub, which I am very excited to play with!

For the time being however, this is the equivalent of having burned cash because it's literally unplayable.

Devs, please provide any feedback and updates. I'm more than happy to support this project

=======

Since the Christmas update, many of the stability issues have been fixed. Minor bugs persist, but the experience is good all the same. Thanks, devs!

JRPGs with political intrigue stories are not many. This is very inspired by Game of Thrones, and form the art style by FFT and Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together.

The game play however is unique enough. It's a JRPGfied RTS, but the difficulty is a bit on the easy side and the battles get repetitive even if this is on the shorter side. Mostly because the mechanics aren't too complex. Not too many classes, nor skills, nor customization overall possible.

Kind of expected from a Lancarse game to keep things basic to focus on the story and fair enough. But the story itself isn't too mindblowing to be worth therest of the game's quality taking a hit. I can understand why everyone was disappointed when this came out a year ago. I'm a Lancarse fan because the atmosphere in their games always are point, but admittedly everything else leaves a lot to be desired.

So check this out when you can, it's the first game since FFT and Tactics Ogre I mentioned above that tried to go for this style, at least from SE. But feel free to drop off at any point you find the game just stops being entertaining.

Also, this is quite the easy completion for a JRPG. Less than 30 hours and you don't even need a guide for it.
