one of my favorite games i've ever played. watching gearbox completely butcher it with their very first release has been a unique kind of painful that i hope to never experience again.

whatever you've heard about this DLC, i promise you, the reality is worse. it wasn't enough for gearbox to release new DLC that's a load of buggy crap—they had to go back and ♥♥♥♥ over the base game and SoTV too. doing my part to warn off potential buyers and telling gearbox to go ♥♥♥♥ themselves.

it hurts to see my favorite game on earth get butchered like this.

core gameplay is incredible. giving an alpha a negative review for lack of content is idiotic.

gave this game a second try after the balance passes.

this game is the most gorgeous i've ever seen; the stellar art and top-notch soundtrack make one of the most immersive and unique worlds i've ever played through. the scenery is diverse, and the amount of hidden items and mysterious setpieces beg to be explored.

the combat feels amazing overall; swordplay has a sense of fluidity and weight, marred only by the occasionally unresponsive ranged weaponry. fights can get very difficult and frequently overwhelming, sometimes frustrating.

the story, while minimalist, is still poignant and sad; i'd have cried during the ending if i still felt anything.

HLD is a one-of-a-kind game.
