Actual, easily noticeable improvement over 2023. Match engine feels tight, and the animation overhaul is even tighter.

My recommendations:

* If you bought/pre-ordered the game? Request a refund. Even if you have above 2 hours of playtime, or have pre-ordered more than 14 days before release. Since this piece of software is quite *literally* unplayable, Steam support will probably understand.

* If you haven't bought the game? Honestly, stick to/buy PAYDAY 2. It's has 10x more content (which is a given, since that game was in service for 10 years), and it's working *mostly* fine (Update 237 did do a lot of damage, but the game's still alive).

Honestly, even without any of the server problems, it's still fairly lackluster. Gunplay still feels good, stealth is way better, Joy is not annoying anymore... and that's about it for the positives. Everything else is a complete stepdown: online-only; requires 3rd party account creation; removal of the lobby system; you only gain XP via challenges, not heists (?????), meaning that you can basically replay every single current and future heist ad nauseam and still get no progress because "you didn't fart on the face of the cop before shooting him in the ♥♥♥♥".

It's bleak. I genuinely wouldn't be surprised if Starbreeze/Overkill went the way of Volition.
