This game is yet another example why SakuraGame works better as developer, rather than a publisher, since they don't understand what normal westerner would perceive, or need. They try to pour out the salt via key giveaways, which do boost sales, but also add another problem related to users attempting to profit off it, including G 2A key reseller sites and so on, the horrid translations and this one is no exception. It's a very, very short game, lasting around 30 mins-1 hour at best, that relies on HCG to sell itself, but thankfully, it doesn't cost 10$ because most devs price their short games for that. That's one thing I can respect them on.

Oh, the biggest issue is how they handle fonts; for chinese, it's no problem, because their fonts tend to be short, however, they instead literally translate them whole; for example the so called Miss Administrator is so long, that font doesn't fit, to point where the text box is empty! Yes, they didn't even adapted the name for westerners, to point that text box doesn't show the text! This is shameful levels of BAD.

The publisher is using it to justify badly translated works, but that doesn't save them from scorn from users. This one is a problem alone on questionable value.

And look at another publisher, MangaGamer, who not only actually adapt the works for foreigners(they are japanese, but they specialize at western market), but also have way higher quality works; SakuraGame also publishes works, but I'm not fine with the fact that they are so lazy on actual translation. It looks like some kind of sleazy robot did the job with no respect for others.

This is Gameforge, a company notorious for making the games they publish into glorified pay to win machines. It has a history of making games even harder than original, while also encouraging into microtransactions and concurrent spending habits. En Masse also does that, but to lesser degree, expect they still make systems even worse than original.

What they made harder, exactly? Of course, they ramped up the general difficulty of the game. As I remember, in original Korean/Asian countries version the enemies and stuff weren't that hard overall; enemies weren't that hard to be killed, they didn't did enough damage to one shot players, crafting wasn't overcomplicated, experience gain was balanced and paid shop elements were mostly minor utility/cosmetic stuff. This German implementation of ideas is inverted, everything is made to be against the consumer and more for creator. I found myself taking more damage than I can outheal and dodge on later levels, on top farming for days on harder difficulty for level.

Aeria Games did similar things to their games and they got hurt bad for it. Either games they publish become dead and they have to remove them completely, or make it even worse to save face...Most of the time it's the publisher fault, not the developers. Or both if they are in same opinion/relations. Gameforge did not learn from mistakes of their competitors.

Sad to where the F2P and general gaming industry is going into; turning players into payers, loot box craze, fee to pay, pay to win, AAA + DLC + microtransactions and other crap.

Edit: The game got "released", but points still stand. And I'm still distasteful at developers due to failed promises. But not hating them like those asset flippers, but dislike for what they have done to could be great idea.

Hey there, I'm one of original Airmech players, who played the game from 2013. At time of 2013-2014, the whole game was much more polished and populated than it's nowdays; it had both coop and PvP modes, had more people, was a fun experience, had a different gameplay style where you put units and then send them to enemy outposts/base, like a MOBA style. It also had the most social fun I ever got involved in community overall. But all of it is now memories. I'll explain why.

The first thing what bothered me starting from 2015 and today, is balance changes, which turned many people off since then; from forced autodeploy, that despite balancing PvP made overall gameplay flow confusing and less unique, to point where people would use their mech as mobile rally barracks point for units. Before forced autodeploy, you could put a unit into queue and take those units from any allied outpost or fortress, while making strategic unit ordering. Now it's simply amass an army, like you would do in games like Starcraft or Warcraft.

Second is, screwing both free and people who paid for VIP and so on. Ultimate units were first created as a OP alternative to a unit, and while being fun to use and restricted for coop/custom lobbies before, are now nerfed; they now have only slight buffs to a unit, for example ultimate goliath having only +100 health and +5 armor for example...While before, it had the same low buff, but ALSO could be built 3 levels earlier(level 4, base needs 7), now it's the same as base...making ultimate variant just for looks...but not so, due to PvP unranked now ALLOWING ultimates to be used...The whole ultimate unit point became a let down for many who paid for them, because they turned from OP and fun things into boring buffs, that allow people to dominate in already dying PvP modes. In Wastelands, ultimates still have nerfed stats and boring buffs, in addition being more of a nesseccity, due to them giving greater effects than ordinary units...ultimates were a choice in original airmech, now people would simply use ultimate over tactics.

Third is, the removal of part based managment system. In 2012-2014, you had a part system, where you could apply various parts to your mech, that give buffs and debuffs, and allowed to you mix and match along with your pilot to get a mech playstyle you wanted; for example, a fast, but fragile neo, or tanky, but slow paladin, or you could do inverse...while it ruins mech supposed playstyle, it allowed for some fun stuff. After 2015, they decided to completly change the system into what we have now: plain buffs, no mix and match, now they are mostly drops, which made MK4 parts spike in diamonds value, along with creating unhealthy player economy and situation. Wastelands does this even worse by making parts pure upgrades, especially with rarity, not fun mix and match like you would had in other RPG games or in original airmech.

4th is gameplay changes. Remember when I told about devs changing gameplay? I wasn't wrong. Devs decided to split original airmech into 2 games: strike and wastelands. You may ask; it's for the good! But it wasn't that good than you think...The original was dying because the devs already leaded it into a dying situation, plus they were more on making seperated versions of the game, like console versions, which are now abandoned, VR only command, which just as dead as it's now, while devs also don't try to fix it, strike having completly different gameplay style from Airmech I loved and knew, and wastelands taking the Strike new gameplay of unit control...Where now you act as mobile commander, than mobile unit placer and tactican...While also making your mech OP as possible by grinding to top level and getting top level parts. Which turns your units and enemy units into cannon fodder. The enemy AI mechs already show how high level parts play a bigger role than units by simply rushing into outposts/your units and killing them easily. Despite being easily killable themselves due to dumb AI from 2014 era.

What do you get if you buy this game now? Nostalgia if you are a veteran? Excitement of strange RPG based gameplay? Hope of becoming better than now? Sorry, but you came in the worng place; hopes are gone, it can't satisfy ethier: veterans because it has now unit stack based economy instead of making credits and deploying units based on upkeep, RPG based gameplay comes around how much you can grind instead of being tactical, no hope because the game itself has changed beyond understanding.

I'm sorry devs and people that still like the ruined airmech, like people who like ruined Spiral Knights, but you'd better both think about it. Twice. Can you raise questions to the devs, why they are making degradation progress instead of actually becoming into something unique and great? You understand, that it only will hurt you in the future? You know that your real fans left because of that? I thinked wastelands free copies would do, but it didn't work; some of my airmech vets got it, but left after playing for 1-2 hours...Because they know the state of the game. Myself as well. Good times are gone. Greed is in power.

Note, I'm not criticising the fact that this game is not in English, I'm cirticising the other stuff that the game has as in-game features, which makes it an experience that is fun for first hours...then becomes repetitive and worst part, the money sinking in-game shop, or simply item hall. Be warned, it's a big wall of text, but you get the image if you read it.

This game was released in 2013, judging from other chinese reviews(most often negative), dated graphics and 1 achivement that reads 2013, and it seems to do somewhat well in it's homeland(Taiwan), but developers, like devs of Perpetuum(which is way worse than this now), decided to promote their game via steam platform. I have nothing against that, as other devs already do it, but both games had a 4 year timeline(2013 for this and 2010 for 2nd game)before they showed on steam, and both games are really niche deisgn wise; this one is a mix of TERA and WoW gameplay wise, wheras the 2nd is a EVE online clone...Which didn't do well. Both games are unpopular, but there's a difference in price and regionality: this one is chinese and costs 3$, wheas 2nd one is english and costed 20$, then 10$ and now 5$...with very small compensation for early buyers...

Now, let's to talk about the game design, a.k.a world design. It's heavily(as the store page says)inspired by East culture, such as foxes, masks, swords and weapons, races, in-game activities like praying, hot springs and chinese laterns, along with other stuff. I can say despite the outdated graphics, the design plays for itself. I liked how the towns looked like, I liked the character/races designs, but the character customization; it's fairly limited: only several variants per what you want to change, combined with outdated graphics, make it rather somewhat ugly. Overall, it's good, but not pretty.

Words on gameplay now. I wasn't impressed by combat system, due to fact it's similar to TERA and so MMOs, but the fact that you have 3 weapons that you can change in and out of battle with their own skill sets, depending on your class, already made it somewhat stand out. You can both lock on target and attack, or you can manually aim on targets with weapons. Bows for example have high range, but no AOE capability, guns have mid-short range, but good DPS, expect AOE, swords have fast swing speed, AOE, and damage output, but no range. You can also jump and press attack to do a slam attack with any weapon, for a chance of stunning enemies, and dealing damage. That's for 1 so called ranger or what it is class. I liked the diversity of stuff, but it's nothing special.

On technical side of the game, it is broken. I had several lag spikes, crashes, bugs, unintended situations, like small hallways, where a mount is supposed to pass trough, but you have to manually move trough them via dismounting or else, poor pathfinding for auto moving, confusing UI, despite the translations, broken collection system that consumes ALL items if it's stackable instead of only 1 stack, while also taking away items with no ability to take it back, ESPECIALLY if it's a shop item...Plus the system benefits paying people(we talk on that later), which is not a good thing.

Let's talk about the...oh boy, the P2W issue this game is filled with. Remember when I earlier talked about in-game shop giving VERY good stuff if you invest money in? I was not joking, at all. This game is FULL of it. From sets that are avalible as early as level 1 giving power worth of level 55, from lvl 13-33 set that gives power of 55-75 level gear, costumes with set(and non set)buffs, not just small buffs, but HEAVY, like health regen AND extra guard bars that allow you to withstand more attacks before you get "stunned" and have to recover, steam store bundles that do the same thing, just they give EVEN more stuff to make you feel powerful, you get 1 free one on buying the game, but apparently, that is not enough to be powerful, because you spend EVEN more to get ALL the stuff the game has. In PvP, the one who got the most money, most collections completed and farmed(not bought from store)legendary gear(in higher level PvP), will wreck pretty much anyone that is not a dev, or spent/farmed as much as this person. This issue alone is enough to make everyone with sane brain hate the game. Even chinese(not all)reviews already tell that...And I'm on their side.

Remember the collection system I talked earlier? It's a double edged sword; on 1 side, it encourages the player to collect, aka deposit items that are collectable into it, when you finish the entire collection that it displays, like 15 various laterns one, you get a buff that is passive, and affects ALL characters on a server. As long they meet the level requipment for it, like lvl 1 for that one, and level 80 for legendary gear of that level. But, there's also a level 1 collection, that gives 6K HP, 150 ATK and 150 DEF, if you put all those weapons, that have lvl 55 stats, but can be worn as early as level 1...The bundle you get for buying this game already has ALL of those, expect the so called nicer costumes and stuff, but the fact alone that collection system benefits the one who has the fattest wallet, due to fact there's ALOT of costume based collections that you can buy on store, and cannot be gotten otherwise(yes I know you can combine costumes, but this needs ALOT of farming; plus some costumes don't drop), so meaning, if you have like most lvl 1 collections completed, your level 1 characters would have the power of 55 or worse, level 80...Plus giving powerful gear to player right away, free or paid method wise will ruin the enjoyment of the game. The cookie cutter gear can be also used in PvP, which even more makes all of that an HUGE issue.

The reviews, that say negatively just beacuse it lacks english, or positively because it has potential, despite the presence of those DLC bundles, you are both wrong; you didn't dig in the REAL issues that plague the game.

I would rather advise the developer to even fix your game in first place before even putting in here...The fact that even your homeland people don't like it and the fact it's nearly deserted, makes your game look like a cash cow, that disguises as indie to milk people out...And let people who pay get the most powerful tools to dominate the game even further.

For people that pay, the game should reward with stuff to look cool or feeling proud for money, not tools to dominate the already innocent people even further...You devs already deserve that for your failed marketing tactics. Even if it ever gets translated, people would rise the same issues as chinese, so you'd better know it.

Please don't pay for people, who didn't even fixed the game for their homeland, and yet trying to milk others as much as possible. While I liked playing with chinese(I met some Taiwanese), the game alone did ruined my interest. If you ever buy the game and/or DLC(bundles)for this game, you are supporting rot, that plagues the gaming industry. And we gonna see more games like this, if you ever continue supporitng them. Even if they were cheap or free. Cheap and free doesn't mean good. If something is free/cheap, but also crap in disguise, no sane person would like it.

As game kept developing, I can't express, but write a negative review of a game that I used to love back then. Starting from 2015, the year where the game started becoming worse and worse, PvP forced on players while seperating fun PvP and ranked PvP into unranked P2W mode and ranked non P2W but hardcore players, forced farmvile-like things on players, nerfing ultimates, making parts pure upgrades removing creativity, adding an autodeploy system like an deploy arm, making market harder for free players to enjoy, tax books are extinct to point of costing over 9000 diamonds, and, worst of all, cratering this game into yet another generic F2P game by screwing up veterans and newbies with nerfs to stuff they owned and loved. Now they just overpriced junk that sells poorly and a mark of how stuff used to be good.

The only good thing about this game now is there's a dev called Insane, you know, he's honest and very social guy, expect the other devs well, just instead of listening to community, they just try to destroy it. And it already shows, not only the matches are now harder to find, but there's literally no good old veterans now right there, there's only diehard players who think this game is awesome or just newbies passing in. Which will leave as soon as they play some games.

The sudden decrease was in 2015, as you know, these updates forced many veterans to leave, inculding myself.

But I decided to re-play it later...to disappointment to how this game has become.

Other negative reviews were right. Sad to see how one of my favorite game's turned from unique into generic and betrayal of loyalty. Now I'm not recommending this game anymore. Rest in peace.

This is is the...worst Unity game ever made. Terrible models, unfinished gameplay(like missing so called huge world and quests), no instructions and so on made this game absolutely terrible.

Dev calls it the hardest puzzle game ever released, yet while making no balance on it. No tips, no instructions, terrible controls, and all combined impossible levels, made this game just being uncompletable.
This is unaccepctable.
Edit: I found it to be actually scam, as it contains ONLY 1 level. DO NOT BUY IT!

A.K.A a poorly made Meat Boy. Controls are clunky, the so called Bob slips off playfroms while standing, bad angle, momentum and gameplay made this game look soo bad.
So in final saying : Don't buy it. Its way worse than other platformers. And its too short(4 hours)despite the default price of 10 dollars.

So...an remaster of an flash game in Unity, which is much better, because original was capped at 30 FPS and had serious lag issues to the point where not everyone was happy about this game.
After this remaster, everything bad was changed to good: The FPS is pretty much uncapped, gameplay is smoother, boss fights are better and have lives, bugs and glitches that was present in flash version got fixed and still, humor is outrageous.
An worthy one compared to original.

Z is a mobile version of a good game that was released in 1990's. After all, this one is a worser, dumbed down version of original Z. The screen is smaller than PC version, which suggests mobile version, the controls are even worser and gameplay is also worser than original one.
Is it worth it? Hardly. With all bad features, bugs and bad gameplay, this game ins't worth the money. And the fact its a mobile port of a good game. Even on sale i don't recommend it.
