### Review of DARK SOULS™: REMASTERED

DARK SOULS™: REMASTERED, developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment, is an updated version of the critically acclaimed action RPG that originally debuted in 2011. The remastered edition brings updated graphics, improved performance, and minor gameplay tweaks while preserving the core experience that made the original a classic.

#### Graphics and Visuals:
The remastered edition offers a significant visual upgrade from the original, with improved textures, lighting, and frame rates. Running at a smooth 60 FPS, the game feels more fluid and responsive, especially during combat and movement. Dark Souls' world, Lordran, is more stunning and immersive, thanks to these enhancements. While it doesn’t completely modernize the game, it strikes a balance between retaining the original’s atmospheric charm and offering a polished visual experience.

#### Story and World-Building:
One of Dark Souls' standout features is its rich, deeply embedded lore and the intricate world-building that FromSoftware is known for. The game’s story unfolds subtly, requiring players to piece together the narrative from item descriptions, environmental storytelling, and cryptic character interactions. This method of storytelling encourages exploration and rewards players' curiosity and attentiveness. The mysteries of Lordran compel players to delve deeper into the game, creating a profound sense of discovery and immersion.

#### Gameplay:
The gameplay in DARK SOULS™: REMASTERED maintains the original's challenging, methodical combat mechanics. Players must learn enemy patterns, manage stamina, and choose their actions carefully. The game is notoriously difficult but fair, and each victory feels immensely satisfying. The remastered version includes the Artorias of the Abyss DLC, adding more content, bosses, and lore to the already rich game.

#### Multiplayer:
Multiplayer has seen improvements, with revamped matchmaking and the ability to host up to six players in a session, up from four in the original. The changes make it easier for players to summon allies for co-op play or engage in PvP battles, enhancing the online experience.

#### Sound and Music:
The sound design and music in Dark Souls are exceptional. The minimalist ambient sounds and occasional haunting tracks by Motoi Sakuraba create a tense and foreboding atmosphere. Boss battles are complemented by epic, orchestral scores that heighten the drama and urgency of these encounters.

### Drawbacks:
While DARK SOULS™: REMASTERED improves upon the original, it doesn't resolve all the issues. Some outdated mechanics and occasional clunky controls remain. Additionally, the online community can be intimidating for new players, as veterans often dominate PvP encounters.

### Conclusion:
DARK SOULS™: REMASTERED successfully preserves the essence of the original game while enhancing its visual and technical aspects. It remains a benchmark for challenging, atmospheric action RPGs, offering a sense of accomplishment and depth rarely found in other games. Whether you are a returning player or a newcomer, this remastered version is a captivating journey through a beautifully bleak world.

### Review of Portal

Portal, developed by Valve, is a unique puzzle game that has left a lasting impression on players since its release, thanks to its innovative gameplay and deliberate minimalism in storytelling.

#### Graphics and Design:
While Portal may not boast hyper-realistic graphics, its choice of minimalist sci-fi design is entirely fitting. The Aperture Science testing facilities are sterile yet intricately designed, creating an atmosphere of a scientific experiment. The simplicity and cleanliness of the design help players focus on the core mechanics of the game.

#### Story and Characters:
The game starts with the player awakening in the Aperture Science research facility and becoming involved in a series of experimental tests. Guided by the AI GLaDOS, the player navigates through the test chambers, gradually uncovering more about this enigmatic place. GLaDOS is one of the most memorable antagonists in gaming history, with her dry humor and unsettling unpredictability. The storyline, despite its apparent simplicity, has depth and several surprises, primarily due to the dynamic relationship between the player and GLaDOS.

#### Gameplay:
The primary innovation of Portal is the portal gun, a device that allows the creation of two interconnected portals on various surfaces. This enables players to traverse levels by solving complex puzzles that combine elements of physics and logic. The game teaches the basics of its mechanics through increasingly challenging tasks, making learning intuitive and organic.

#### Audio:
The audio in Portal deserves special mention. The sound effects and the remarkable original song “Still Alive” add a unique charm to the game. GLaDOS, voiced by Ellen McLain, is worthy of the highest praise for her expressiveness and memorability.

### Drawbacks:
If there are any drawbacks to note, it would be the game's short length. Completing Portal can take just a few hours, but this is more of a characteristic than a flaw, as every minute of the game is filled with innovation and unique moments.

### Conclusion:
Portal is a brilliant game that combines innovative mechanics, an engaging storyline, and witty dialogue. It leaves an indelible impression and sets a high bar for all future puzzle games. For anyone who hasn't played it yet, it’s a must-play masterpiece.

### Review of Metro Exodus:

Metro Exodus is one of those games that stays with you long after you've finished playing. Developed by 4A Games and published by Deep Silver, this game offers a unique experience set in a post-apocalyptic world.

#### Graphics and Design:
The first thing that strikes you is the stunning graphics. Metro Exodus transports players to a variety of beautifully rendered locations—from snow-covered cities to irradiated wastelands and forests. The attention to detail is astounding; every nook and cranny of the world is intricately designed, fully immersing you in the survival atmosphere.

#### Story and Characters:
The game's narrative continues the story of Artyom, the protagonist from the previous entries in the series. The storytelling is impressive both in depth and emotional impact, touching on themes of hope, survival, and humanity in the face of total destruction. The characters are vivid and memorable, each with their own unique personalities and motivations. Interaction with your companions on the "Aurora" train adds another layer of depth and emotional attachment.

#### Gameplay:
Metro Exodus offers excellent gameplay that strikes a balance between action and stealth. The game allows players to choose how they want to approach each level—whether through intense firefights or sneaky maneuvers in the shadows. Weapons can be modified and customized, adding a strategic layer to combat. Additionally, survival elements like crafting and resource management make the overall experience even more engaging.

#### Open World and Exploration:
The game takes a step away from the linear structure of previous titles, offering more open and expansive environments to explore. This allows players to delve deeper into the game world, uncovering secrets and side missions. The freedom of choice and multiple paths to achieve objectives make each playthrough unique.

### Cons:
The only drawbacks worth mentioning might be occasional bugs or technical issues, but these are not critical and are likely fixed through patches.

### Conclusion:
Metro Exodus is an outstanding game with a deep story, complex characters, and captivating gameplay. It is a must-play for fans of post-apocalyptic shooters and followers of the series. Artyom's journey and the stories of his companions will stay in players' hearts for a long time.
