Super fun and unique take on the MOBA genre. It feels as much like an MMO as a MOBA. Highly recommend,

This is one of the greatest games ever designed. I wish there were a hundred more levels (oh wait, that's just learning assembly language programming, isn't it?)

The negative reviews of this game have been blown completely out of proportion. The complaints about monetization of purely cosmetic items (and a feature we never had in previous editions) has been addressed. Complaints that you have to buy additional teams; don't we all play the tabletop game? In the tabletop game you get two teams for $160 and buy the rest... The video game comes with like 8 teams for $30.

This game isn't produced by EA or Square, it's an independent game studio that deserves to be supported for their efforts. Running this game into the ground with negative won't accomplish anything except scaring away potential buyers, reducing income, and ensuring that the devs don't have enough money to continue. Then we have no Blood Bowl instead of Suboptimal Blood Bowl.

Please don't let the hype train of negative reviews kill the potential of this game.

Whether you think the tabletop version of Root is an elegant game of strategy of constantly shifting alliance, or an overcomplicated game burdened by the asymmetric play of each faction, there is absolutely no denying that this is a fantastic implementation. I love the cross-platform multiplayer between mobile and PC, and I love that I can zoom the board all the way out to get rid of the cute, but sometimes distracting 3d animation and just look at the board the same way I would see it on the tabletop (although cleaner and easier to read)! Fantastic implementation. Other developers should take notes!

Go is one of those games that I've always wanted to learn but was too intimidated to take the leap, so I was anxiously awaiting the release of this game. So far I have only gone through the tutorials, but I absolutely ADORE the presentation! I love the friendly comic-style artwork, and I love how the stones of a single group link together to help you visualize established groups, and how a stone in atari (I learned that word from the tutorials today!) shows up as though it's under construction so that it catches your eye. This visual eye-candy makes the game feel much more approachable. I appreciate that under the hood it's using the GNU implementation of go for the AI, so you know the AI is a quality opponent. I don't know if I'll ever be confident enough to play online, so I really appreciate the idea of having a campaign to play through as I learn.

I've been aware of the Lock 'n Load tabletop game for some time, but it wasn't a ruleset that I was particularly drawn to. But now having this faithful adaptation of the game has enabled me to do some much-needed gaming with my usual opponent during quarantine, so it gets high marks from me! I also appreciate that they didn't go with a bunch of fancy 3D animations, and just gave us a faithful recreation of the game system. I ordered the physical copy of the game, and suspect it will now be in rotation, in for face-to-face gatherings, thanks entirely to this well-implemented introduction.

I love that the starter kit was an inexpensive starting point. I like the Heroes of Normandie game a lot, but it has a $40 price tag and I couldn't ask my friend to buy that if we only ended up playing once. $5 on LnL and 5 hours of playtime later, I'm certain we will both be willingly filling up our collection with the available DLC (and probably more tabletop modules too!)

I REALLY wish I could disable the mouse-panning of the map though...

I played the base game on the tabletop some years ago and thought it was fun, but didn't capture my imagination. The video game implementation has been fantastic. I really appreciate that you only have to buy the expansion once and it will be available to you on Steam, iOS, and Android!

I've gotta say, I have tried a number of "programming games" over the years and this is the first one that really has the potential to hook me. I adore the retro RPG feel and I love that you have the ability to control your character manually while expanding your code as you learn the game. Kudos. This is a very cool game. Highly recommended (and I almost never leave Steam reviews. :)
