it's a wonderful content update that gearbox forced out waaaaaay too early. Now though? All of the big issues and bugs are ironed out, and it really does add to the experience in the best of ways.

except for the golden guardians getting uber stats if you fight them anywhere outside of stage 1. That's still a bit much for my tastes.

this is the bundle with medieval madness in it.

if you know what that is, that should be enough reason to try this one out. If you don't know what that is, then I highly suggest you try it out, that table's delightful.

Easily one of my favorites. The setting is incredible, the herald itself is a delight to watch and listen to, and it's incredibly satisfying to launch the ball to and fro amidst the nightmares that lurk about! The board can be pretty tricky, as it's small field and fast launches can really easily throw you for a loop, but it also leads to some good quick-paced gameplay if you can work around it. If you're even remotely interested in it... then grab a ball, gaze into the abyss, and see what unspeakable horrors the elder gods have in store for you!

This bundle's really fun! Each of the boards present have a unique aesthetic, and they're all very satisfying to play on. They do feel a little dated due to their designs, and the tables themselves are rather large, which can make it hard to track the ball but I hardly think that detracts from the experience. It's still a very fun pack, and there's plenty of little secrets in each table that make them all worth playing.

Ok, for starters: the rhythm aspect is done by alternating the paddles in time with the beat. The table has several elements that light up in time to tip you off to this, and it's needed to get higher scores. I recommend doing this when the ball is in the back lanes to practice, as it takes some getting used to.

With that tip out of the way... this board still isn't the best.

I get how it works, and the moments where everything comes together and you're launching the ball around on the beat can be very satisfying... but it doesn't happen as often as I'd like it to. More often than not, you're either losing your beat multiplier as you try to aim your shot, or your ball ends up flying off in some random direction which makes it all the harder to keep it in play and not lose a life. On that note, the lives system has a very nasty habit of taking a life for misplays, and then taking ANOTHER life quickly after because the song had ended, which can feel a bit cheap. Not helping matters is that hitting the ball into any of the dirt walls causes it to immediately lose all momentum, which is honestly rather confusing.

While it can be fun to beat bosses, and use the bombs and equipment unique to this board (which really does set it apart from the rest, and is genuinely something I like about it), the constant little frustrations caused by the mechanics in each zone just make it difficult for me to truly recommend this.
