I know a lot of people have been saying very negative things about this game, so I decided to try to look at it in a positive way. I got it on sale today, and tried it out. Keep in mind I've been a fan of the Tony Hawk game series for well over a decade. I've played every Tony Hawk game.

-Pros
• Better graphics
• Soundtrack is pretty cool (it's like the THP8 soundtrack, but not as good)
• First Tony Hawk game on PC with full Xbox 360 controller support

-Cons
• Gameplay feels slow, and janky. The animations are very whacky and sloppy.
• If you lose speed while holding a combo, there's literally no way to regain it. You can't get off your board. You have to find a ramp to roll down, but if you're speed is completely gone, then you just have to end your combo.
• Slow paced compared to every other Tony Hawk game. Tony Hawk games have been known for the unreal feeling of their gameplay. There were many glitches that could be used to the player's advantage, such as boostplants, airshuffles, buttslaps and more. In the previous games, you were able to get LOTS of air, maintain a lot of speed, it was very fast paced and fun. It was actually really fun to play. In this game, even holding the ollie button doesn't give you any speed, like the previous games. It gives you no speed at all. Which leads me to my next con.
• Holding down ollie doesn't give speed. In all the previous TH games, if you held ollie, you'd gain a lot of speed to start off with. Not in THPSHD/5.
• NO MORE WALLPLANTS OR STICKER SLAPS. If you try to do a wallplant/sticker slap, your character will just bail, and flop around the ground for a few seconds. This is a huge disadvantage for combos.
• Reverts almost never carry on a combo.
• NO MORE DOUBLE-TAP TRICKS!!! Yeah. Remember how every Tony Hawk game had that feature where if you double tapped a trick button, if would do something else like a rocket air or a double kickflip? This game doesn't have that. If you try to do a double trick, it will just do the same trick twice, causing you to bail because the animations are really slow.
• No Create-A-Skater feature. This is another thing that makes this feel less like a Tony Hawk game. There's no character creator. You have a small list of skaters to pick from. But on games like THPS4 and THUG2, you could play as characters like Shrek, colored aliens, Jango Fett, The Hand, Benjamin Franklin etc. Those other games really had a nice sense of humor, as oppose to this boring/dull game.

And my biggest one of all, absolutely NO online play. Most of the old Tony Hawk games on PC used GameSpy arcade servers for online play, but GameSpy shut down. Obviously you are still able to play those games if you use OpenSpy mods, or, you can do the smart thing. Find a torrent on TPB for Tony Hawk's Underground 2, and get the THUG Pro mod. This mod is basically a whole new game in itself. Yes, it's a mod for THUG2, but it contains maps from almost every Tony Hawk game. You can skate on THPS1/THAW maps, while actually just playing THUG2. You're using the engine of THUG2, but able to skate on all those other maps.

In conclusion, I do not recommend you buy this game if you want a game that actually feels like a Tony Hawk game. If you like the engine of THPSHD, buy an Xbox 360 or a PS3 and buy Tony Hawk's Project 8. The physics in that game feel similar to this one, but actually feeling good. You can gain speed, it feels like a more unrealistic version of the native tony hawk game.

This game is a huge disappointment to any THPS fan...

Great game. If you are using an Windows 10, according to others you MAY experience frequent crashes. I've played this on Windows 7 and 8, and I was actually able to complete the full story without any crashes. It's a heavy game however. If you want max settings PLUS a solid framerate, you're definitely going to need pretty high specs. I'm using GTX 960 and I'm getting 60 FPS on max settings. Mind you there is a released executable which replaces the original one, removing the 30 FPS limit. I'd only recommend getting that if you have 8 or more GB of ram. Other than that, it's a really juicy story, lots of fun, and can easily be modded. 10/10.
