Cool premise, but open world and gameplay execution ruined it. How they go from Evil Within to this...

Aged so bad the milk grew legs, even nostalgia can't save you from having bad gamer opinions. Better to play Contracts which remade a lot of the levels from this game.

Like a Dragon: Ishin is a slice of life, that follows samurai Kiryu as he does karaoke, buyo, fishing, farming, chicken racing, mahjong, neighbourhood watch, cooking, serving udon, and playing rock, paper and scissors with a courtesan.

Oh and there's a revenge story in a conflict between the shishi and the bakufu.

The devs cooked using Sony's boring game formula with the bare minimum ingredients necessary and voila, your days are gone.

One of my least favourite JRPGs. I enjoyed the beginning but slowly got bored once it hit the half point; the latter worlds are less utilised and seem instead to serve to rush towards the finale, with the fifth lord. After beating him, I quit the game.

The first three worlds are beautifully crafted and love the artstyle and some character interactions. The combat and CP/artes system were annoying to play with, with boss fights being more or less two or three templates (the zeugles for that matter). Issues with difficulty arose where in boss fights, whether you won or not, depended on item attrition; abusing items to try to survive and chip away at MMO level boss health where you do little damage. On the topic of dmg, you are always under-leveled and even if you do all available side quests, you do low damage; to get more XP, permanent XP boost is locked behind paid DLC.

This game made me a journalist. My first and last Tales of... game, for now.

This is the "Saints Row" of a sequel, or modern take on a great 2003 game - which is trash.
