Early Access Review
This game is too much fun. I can't have it installed anymore because I spend way too much time playing it.

Just play it. Don't look at anything about it before you do. Just play it.

This may be the best game I have ever played. It is easily the most artistic.
Of course, when I say artistic, I don't simply mean "It HAS art". I mean it IS art. That is not to say that the graphics aren't high quality, they are. The art style is gorgeous, the music is lovely, the voice acting (though incomprehensible) is endearing, the story is well-crafted, the camera work keeps you focused on the action and flows nicely, the characters are deep and relateable. All of these things can be said about Brothers. But these things could also be said of a film. Fair warning though, it is very dark at parts. Definitely not a game to play with kids watching.

What makes brothers art is how it integrates all of its assets, most especially its story, with gameplay. Without spoiling anything, I can say in this game you control two characters, who are brothers, and the way that you control them adds to your connection with this game. There are many games with good stories where it could be said that the gameplay wasn't necessary. By that I mean that the game could have been a movie and been just as compelling. But this is a game where the story (which is excellent in its own right) is propelled to a much higher level of depth by its mechanics. In a certain sense the mechanics are part of the story. That in itself is an amazing feat which few games have managed to capture.

This is a game that you will have a hard time putting down. It isn't incredibly long, but if you are only playing a game because it has hours of gameplay then you are doing it wrong. Any fool can make a game that has hundreds of hours but no depth. It takes real skill to make a complex game with excellent assets, a compelling story, and home-run gameplay all wrapped into a tight package that lasts a few hours. Without a doubt this game has the highest overall quality of any game I have ever played, and my only regret is waiting so long to play it.

It can be a little gimmicky at times, but it has enough depth to interest an RPG fan. The progression system is interesting, and it is fun to swap between genres and dimensions. However the soundtrack is easily my favorite part of the game.

First off, let me clear the air. Yes, there are performance issues with RealMyst on Windows 7/8. When I first ran it, it was very choppy in certain parts, and crashed every 5 minutes or so. I tried a few solutions online, but none of them seemed to work. However, after setting the game to run as an Administrator and in Windows XP Compatibility mode it runs smoothly, and without any crashes. There is no guarantee that this will work, but it seems to solve the issue for most people.

As for the game itself, it is the same old Myst that you know and love, only taking the time to add a small (but cool) age at the end of the game, and to update the graphics. The new graphics on highest settings look similar to the screenshots, though it is worth noting that you can add anti-aliasing and resolutions at least up to 1366x768. They add a refreshing coat of paint to the outdated visuals of the original, making it more than playable even in this day and age. Also, the new control scheme is pretty nice, allowing you to mouse and keyboard, though I preferred using just the mouse. Granted, the controls aren't perfect, but they aren't horrendous either.

Now would I recommend this over RealMyst Masterpiece Edition? I only own this edition, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. However, it seems to me that the Masterpiece Edition's graphics jumble and confuse things more than they ought to. Watching videos of the Masterpiece Edition makes it seem like certain elements are harder to see, but that of course is up to personal taste and perception. It seems to me that this version is a fine version of Myst, and it's price is hard to beat. I don't know that the Masterpiece Edition's graphics are worth the extra $12.

Bottom Line: If you feel like replaying Myst, or want to experience it for the first time, I think this game is the one for you.

You'd be crazy not to buy this on sale. By now you have most assuredly heard something about this game. All I can say is that though it is challenging, it is worth all of the pain it causes. It has the tightest controls and best designed levels of any game I have ever played. There are no powerups or abilities, yet there are plenty of things you can do with meat boy. The controls give way to crazy movement possibilities. Not to mention all the high quality content that this game offers. At $15 this game is a steal.

One of the most in-depth and thought provoking games I've played in a while. It makes you think in a deep way about cartoon violence, Heisenberg, and dimenional boundaries.

This is why you don't buy a game without looking into it a bit first. The stupid key doesn't work. Apparently Valve won't do anything about it either. Get yourself together Valve.
