Best way I can describe this is Dragon Ball Xenoverse with swapped characters.

Personally, I'm a huge fan of XV so this game is fun for me anyway. I knew exactly what I was walking into when I started playing.


If you like DBXV, you'll like this.

the game has a balanced junkrat who can grav enemies at will and orisa shield himself with a short cooldown.

Online is anime overwatch.

Finally, a Dragon Quest game that isn't a port in god knows how long.

I'm a bit new to the series (I played a bit of VIII, a bit of IX, and a bit of VII), and so far I'm enjoying DQXI a LOT.
The combat system is traditional turn-based, which I absolutely love.

I have 0 complaints and I'm only about 3 hours into the game.

So I thought I was about to beat the game but OH WELL I GUESS I WASN'T EVEN CLOSE (Thanks DQXI, you may be right up there with FFVI for me now).
I'm honestly not surprised. Dragon Quest games are known for their length in playtime; but this isn't necessarily saying it's a bad thing.

The story goes deeper than "traditional JRPG where you have to save the world from evil demons and darkness." You're talking about character AND story progression, interactions, moods, and involvement. The game is VERY involved with the NPCs populating it. The Hero (you) may be perceived as the "main" character, but the game shines on every character that's part of your party.

I'm not quite fond of the music, although I do like the battle theme(s).

I've read some other reviews on people who are also new to the series and tried giving this game a shot. The problem with those who aren't really seeing what makes this game so great and how deep the stories and side stories go is perspective. They're not seeing it for what it is. These people are going head-first into the game with predetermined thoughts, expectations that WANT to meet and criticize "JRPG".

I'm not done with the game, but best believe I'm gonna update this again when I am.

I ENDED UP FINISHING THE GAME AND OH MY GOD MAKE SURE YOU DO THE POST-GAME CONTENT.

AMAZING Port on PC. So much smoother than my PS4.

Keyboard controls aren't terrible, but they are definitely better for Iron Bow/Bowgun.

Everyone giving negative reviews because of Denuvo? Are you actually being affected by this? No? Jumping on a bandwagon?

I've had no issues with the game so far. A+.

It's like Mafia but all of the townies are stupid.
