Absolutely the best free to play game available, it's a bit abrasive to get started because of the lack of direction from the game, but even that gets improved update by update.
Even after 1k hours on steam and 4kish on Xbox (yay cross save) I still find things to do, there's always some reason to come back after every time I've burnt out.
Easiest recommendation I could ever make for a game, it's not for everyone but for those who do get into it it always ends up being a favorite.

Will start by saying the new map is fantastic, but that's kind of where the compliments stop.
The UI is completely horrible, general usage is awful, trying to recruit hunters is awful and 70% of the menus feel redundant. The general game balance realistically nerfed everything non-long ammo that competed via high velocity by lower its damage and bullet count and velocity. The performance for me has been fine, but i also have a $5000 rig so its not fair for me to comment on that i feel.

The devs promised months ago 3 key things to me: Ping limit to be lowered, anti-cheat to be upgraded, and back-end server adjustments (whatever that means) to reduce trades. None of these things happened, though were guaranteed to arrive with the engine upgrade as said through several developer update vlogs. (worth mentioning that they stopped doing devstreams seemingly so they could completely avoid feedback?)

Hunt: Showdown is a lovely shooter, with an interesting skill ceiling, but in its current state, and with leadership interested and apparently Call of Duty-ifying it, I unfortunately can't recommend it in its current state. With the mmr changes the minute a low skill player has one good game, they're stuck playing against 2000+ hour players, or ping abusing cheaters, so i cant even say its fun for the first few hundred hours.
