Pretty interesting story.
It tackles morality during tough times, in a historical chinese setting, with a healthy dose of cannibalism.

You play as a morally grey bandit, taking on a shady human trafficking job (for the first time), and meet with the main girl.
The story is the duration of the journey from start to finish with some twists and turns and flashbacks for back story.
It's a pretty character heavy story, with the two of them interacting constantly. If you don't like the characters you won't like the story, since there isn't any overarching big plot.

I personally quite liked the story, since Sui is such a interesting character, and the themes of the story are not quite usual (like historical china during famine). I also really appreciate it being fully voiced in japanese.

Also the community items are top tier, like the animated avatars and background.

I wouldn't call it a masterpiece, but it is a nice game if you are into the cute anime girl meta narrative.

Pros:
The art and setting is nice, and the main waif is fully voice acted in japanese and chinese.
The circular narrative is interesting and it does tackle some philosophical subjects.
Some of the different choices you make lead to some interesting results.
It also has some weird quirky moments in the story that was nice.

Cons:
The story doesn't feel coherent. It is later explained what each chapter represents, but I feel like it could have been done better.
They try to do the 4th wall breaking thing, but I don't think they succeeded in it. The character had too much personality when the story got to that part so it never really felt personal. I think it would have been better if they just made the main character a character instead and the story would have flown better.

All in all, it was a decent game if you are in to the genre. I don't think it is groundbreaking, but mildly interesting.

The community items though, that is top tier. The animated avatar and background are pretty stylish.

Really challenging game! And surprisingly had a lot of content. Took me 100h+ to clear it once.

I played it on Challenge+, and it was hard, and I like how it forces you to use your items and manage your resources.

The gameplay is a turn based tile based strategy game, not too unlike fire emblem. The first few chapters you'll only have 2 units, and you'll have to utilize your items to even the odds of winning. Eventually you will get more characters, but they mostly only stay temporary based on what goes on in the story. I think that is pretty interesting.
The story is set in a grim militaristic future with some post apocalyptic vibes, with a time loop twist. There is a lot of story, mostly in the form of a visual novel presentation, but sometimes they have some action in their gameplay sprites. Those are pretty nice. Every visual novel part is voice acted, which I personally appreciate alot since I really like japanese voice acting and it adds alot of emotion and vibes.

Anyways, what I wanted to say is that I think this is a really good and challenging game, and I think more people should play it.

Contrary to what I've seen from other reviews, you don't actually need to grind previous levels. It is completely doable doing every mission only once. I did it on my only playthrough. I personally think it is the best way to play, since then you'll also be challenged in resource management.

If you know about the gacha games "Girl's frontline", this game is in the same universe. There are a few cameos, but this game is completely stand-alone.

The game was shorter than I expected, considering that it is an all time classic. There was only 3 routes.

The story questions what reality is, and how your perception can change it and yourself. It has a lot of gore to emphasize the disgust the main character feels for his normal life, to help us readers empathize with him. However, the thing that moves the story is Saya.

Saya is cute and funny and smart. However, she is not like the other girls. Saya is Saya.
Just Saya. Everything for Saya.
Saya Saya
Saya Saya Saya Saya Saya
Saya Saya Saya Saya Saya Saya Saya

Short and sweet.
The art is very nice.
The story is about a person wanting to do something but couldn't and his struggles to cope with it with the support of his friends. It also expands the world of fault and that was pretty interesting.

It's a bit like dark souls in that it is hard, you get world building through items and that it is dark.
The characters are cute and the voice acting is mostly pretty good. I didn't even notice that the bosses was voiced by Hololive talents until i looked at the credits lol. As a loli connoisseur I approve of this art.
The combat is a little bit like dark souls in that timing and spacing is important and that both you and the enemies dies relatively fast.
You can use different spells that you can just shoot or charge it for a different effect. What they have done with charging is pretty interesting, as in you can speed up the charge by dodging attack, parrying and hitting the enemy with melee attacks. Some charged spells also enhances your melee attack once it has finished charging, so you could play around melee too instead of just using spells. I think the combat is satifying.
The world-building is built through the items and every item is voice acted (in jp) which I appreciate a lot (since I like jp voice acting) and the descriptions add context to the world and bosses. Despite the cute characters the world is quite dark. I wish for a some kind of sequel continuing in this world since it hasn't been explored much and it is quite interesting imo.
Basically this game is cute, interesting and challenging.

I love her.
I love how clingy she is.
I love how cute she is.
I love her personality.
I love her streamer persona.
I love how she gets annoyed when you don't reply to her dm's.
I love her twitter snarky comments.
I love her general outlook on life.
I love how she is slightly mentally unstable.
I love how she is somewhat reliant on drugs.
I love how she has trust issues.
I love how she is prone to self harm.
I love how she sometimes secretly don't care about me.
I love everything about her.
I love every version of her.
But most of all, I love that she is strong enough to move on from me despite the difficulties.

This game gives me the feels.

Some people might disagree with me, but I think this game is really sad. It's about people being unable to escape their fate and trying to defy it at all cost. During the playthrough it also taught me some lessons of life and discussed about philosophical concepts. I don't want to spoil more than that.

It's a game that made me cry and think.
Good game.

For people stuck in a endless loop:
Go to the game folder in the steam directory and delete Monika in the character folder to get to the ending.
The path is usually "Computer > C: > Program Files (x86) > Steam > SteamApps > common > Doki Doki Literature Club".

It is a cute visual novel with cute characters living in the post apocalypstic world where most people got animal ears and tails to make them cute.

The only "Sexual Content" and "Nudity" in the game (that was not cut) is two towel covered female bodies, so I would personally call this a pretty safe to read novel.

Sadly its short though.
