I had been watching this game for a couple years before I decided to purchase and was pretty hyped for the game.

I decided after a couple months that the time had finally come to give it a spin.
I was concerned due to the mixed reviewed, that it would be a very tedious game, however I've been pleasantly surprised.

The vibe of the game is fantastic and the developers have clearly put a lot of work into nailing the 80's vibe. The main story makes great use of it's setting, and at times feels like a classic action/cop movie in the vein of the lethal weapon series. It has enough twists and turns to keep the user interested throughout it's duration.

The gameplay despite at first seeming rather simplistic opens up the further you get into, allowing the unlocking of new case officers, mini games and variables and the dice rolling mechanic I found surprisingly didn't get old for me.

One big negative where I think the game really suffers is simply it's lack of non main story cases. Unfortunately, you'll probably find the you'll see the same cases play out up to 8 - 10 times throughout the game.

It's a shame as I feel it wouldn't have taken much more effort from the devs just to introduce more cases. I reckon it needed about 3x as many as it currently has to maintain consistent interest and to have kept things feeling fresh and unpredictable.

Character art also suffers in the late game, as strangely the devs use the same trechcoat body style for nearly all level 3 characters making them feel less individual. Which is a shame as most of them are teeming with personality, even if voice lines are re-used a little too much for my liking.

Despite these issues, I had a lot of fun, and I think the price is fair for what it is.
I think the game does deserve more recognition, as it does a lot really despite seemingly haven fallen slightly under the radar..

8/10

I highly recommend this title, when it first released it had so many bugs that it actually was a horrendous experience to play. However, the game has received many many fixes at this point due to a few different patches here and there, and now I can safely say that this is a fantastic commando's esque game, up there with the greats. Fantastic graphics, arguably the best I've ever seen in this type of game and also some really cool historical war documentary films hidden within, once you finish completing various levels.

Incredible game, had me hooked from beginning to end. Well worth the money, they've taken the same mechanic from her story but dialled it up to ten.

Very poor experience, much like the other DLC's for the game. Feels like more gameplay for the sake of more gameplay, little scares or major story plot points. Set pieces are mostly non existant.

I have to say I personally just couldn't get into the game. Although I really enjoyed Her Story, Telling lies and Interrogation files: Port Landsend, this game just didn't hook me like the others I've played. I think the game primarily lacks a sense of mystique and the story itself feels too simplistic, although the acting is passable I felt it was just lacking emotion and believe-ability. Without any additional characters or dialogue I found it too hard to get immersed in the world. About an hour in I felt I had seen enough and decided to refund.

Regarding bugs, I noticed that there would often be multiple audio tracks playing over each other, hopefully this will get fixed by the dev though.

While the art style is pretty cool and unique, unfortunately the grammar and spelling are so bad it makes the entire story of the game very difficult to understand, The dialogue of the game in particular feels very shoddy and reads like it was put through a poorly implemented auto translator, and then just copy and pasted into the game by the developer. Then there's the story and world the player character is supposed to be in which is never really adequately explained to the player, despite the impressive artwork it still feels like it was put together over the course of a few weeks.

The game play combat system when in use is extremely basic, relying on very little player input beyond two different attack methods and perhaps one healing skill... There's only ever one way to defeat an enemy and it's a very monotonous and boring experience.

So that's about it......
I would give it about a 2/10, it would have been 1/10 if it weren't for the unique art style which somewhat saves it from being a joke.

Early Access Review
Unfortunately the developer seems to have gone rather quiet, and there hasn't been an update in awhile. Communication the dev has been giving seems very poorly thought out, vague and he seems disinterested in the project, which makes me think there is a high chance this game could be abandoned before completion. Either that or features will be severely cut down and the game will be released as a finished product much like many other early access failures.

I highly recommend you don't buy this game in its current state, as while the gameplay is fun, there is rather little depth or sense of an overall objective or goal.

The story lacks any grip and the gameplay loop is your typical survival base building type. It's been done far better by other games. The relationship system is interesting, but you quickly realise while playing that it lacks any depth beyond keeping numbers up. The characters very different personalities and backgrounds also feels a little forced. Overall, the game is simply to binary and doesn't give the player much of a reason to care about what is actually happening to the characters.

There is only ever one way to solve each interrogation and it's usually a complete guessing game as to how you get there. Basic premise of the game sounds fun and it is for the first interrogation, and then it slowly dawns on you after a few failures that the game actual is a visual novel with some very poor strategy elements mixed in.
