I still remember playing this as a kid on the SNES. Even then I was completely taken in by the story, the characters, the different areas of the game, and my god! The music!. It still remains my favorite Final Fantasy game of all times. This port is not quite the game I remember, but for all the flaws it has, I still enjoy it. The story is still there, the characters are still there, the script has been redone so it reads a little smoother, and of course the music is back. My main problem with this version of the game is the odd control setup on the keyboard. It took me a bit to get it configured how I wanted so I could play, or even name my characters without accidently adding a 'Z' at the end of their name. I guess my other complaint is the appearance of the character sprites. They just look stiff. I would've liked to see them use the kind of graphics they use in Final Fantasy Brave Exvius.

If you've played Hearthstone, then this game should be extemely familiar. It plays virtually the same. So, really, you could look at this kind of like an Elder Scrolls expansion for it. That being said, I think I like this a little better. It's not perfect as there are some pretty annoying bugs that pop up from time to time, and does appear to be a game, like Hearthstone, where you need to dump money into it to be really competetive with other online players. But, I'm a Elder Scrolls fan, and I like the serious tone of the game as opposed to Hearthstone's kind of cartoony silliness, and it is fun to boot up and play a game or two while I'm killing time.

Picked this up during the summer sale for $1.19, I believe, and I have not been disappointed. If you were a fan of SNES platformers like Castlevania, ActRaiser, and Demon's Crest, then you'll enjoy this game quite a bit because that's exactly what you're getting with Insanity's Blade: a solid, old school, dark fantasy themed platformer.

The story follow Thurston, a retired soldier whose town, along with his wife and children, are slaughtered by a demon. Branded by the demon and blamed for the destruction of his town, Thurston is now on a quest for revenge accompanied by Finn the dwarf, one of the few people who believe that Thurston is innocent.

The gameplay couldn't be simpler or easier to get the hang of. One button attack, one button jumps, and the other button allows you to grab a monster and, depending on what direction you're holding when you grab them, Thurston either throws them, punches them to death in the balls (not joking), or rips one of their arms off to use as a weapon.

Throughout the game Thurston will level up which will increase his max HP. In addition, you also collect gold that you can use at shops that appear during the game. In the shops you can purchase upgraded attacks: shooting a spray of three daggers, then five, three and five again, but this time the daggers are on fire. You can also purchase 1Ups, and upgrade your max HP.

The music is pretty great to and taps into that nostalgia of old school side scrollers.

There are two modes to the game: story and arcade. Story mode, obviously, follows the set story line of the game. It allows you to save between stages and offers side quests to go on to find treasure. Arcade mode plays like a traditional game of this type: no saves, just 3 lives. I haven't played this mode yet as I'm still working my way through story mode, so I'm not sure how many continues you get. Arcade mode also does away with the side quests.

I only have a few complaints so far. One is that the game is kind of buggy sometimes. The one I've run into the most is sometimes the screen will go crazy. By this I mean that sometimes the screen will just quickly scroll in a random direction for a few seconds before flicking back to where I'm currently at. Hasn't been a major issue so far as it seems to mostly happen at the beginning of boss fights after they finish speaking. The other one I've run into is specific to one particular stage, and that is stage 2. Right in the beginning of it, after to jump off the moving platform, there are merfolk jumping out of water at the bottom of the screen. The floor appears to be solid. But, if you try to walk straight over the floor, you will fall into the water an die. Not a major problem if you know to look for it, all you have to do is jump over to the torch.

My only other complaint is with the side quests, and that is I don't really know how they work. They will appear on the map and you can select them but most of them I've run into just have people telling me about some treasure in one of the stages, or some spot I'm supposed to look for. However, when I go to that stage I can't find them. And once you complete a stage you can't replay it. So, maybe I'm just missing them, I'm not sure.

Bottom line is though, this is game is pretty great. Definitely worth the sale price, and I would say worth the regular asking price. According to the description it says this is a first of a planned series of game revolving around Thurston and his story, so I'm hoping to see the second game on the market soon.

The first time I played this was in high school on the XBox. It was my first experience with a Bioware game and I was blown away. I had played other Star Wars games before this and my feelings about them were pretty lukewarm. But, damn, this game delivered. I think my only realy complaint about it is how long it takes you to actually get to play as a Jedi.

It's not terrible. It doesn't capture the feeling I used to get playing the table top version with my brother and our friends. But, it's as close I can get to it. I wish the character classes were the same as the table top version as well. I am glad I got the deluxe version as a gift, because I have to be honest with you, I thought the slew of in game purchases required to get the full game experience was bull$hit. I would recommend this for fans of the table top game, but only if you can get the deluxe version for decent discount.

I remember playing this for the PC when it first came out. My mom loved point and click puzzle games and she picked it up Electronic Boutique the one time we were at our local mall. I used to watch her play it and I was pretty blown away by the graphics, the ambient music, and the story in general. I remember trying to play it and no know what the hell I was supposed to do. At the time I just couldn't figure it out at all. So, when I saw this for sale on Steam I thought, "What the hell?" and bought it. The updated graphics are gorgeous, the sound and music is still fantastic, and the puzzles are still challenging. I finished this is just two days, but I am by no means disappointed by that. I really want to get Riven now and see how the story continues.

Ahh, here's my answer to Terraria. This is pretty much Terraria Advanced. You get to pick a race, you get to go to different worlds, there's actual quests to go on. And this is on top of all the Terraria-like things you do. I haven't clocked nearly as much game time in on this game, but from what I've played so far I'm digging this game quite a bit.

My god how much time have I invested in this game? I look at the counter and I can't believe it. It's a very entertaining game and it's great to just dig and dig to see what cool stuff you find. It's cool to be able to build houses for yourself, customize your color scheme (sun cultist mask with burning dye is a great combo). It's not without its flaws. I wish the spawn rate was higher for some of the mats you need to craft better gear, I wish the Lhizard Temple was easier to find. I wish there was more to do that just farm mats, craft gear, kill a boss to unlock better mats for better gear, rinse, repeat.

This game look good from the screen shots and most of the intro game play was pretty nice. However, now that I'm actually into the game I'm finding that I'm seriously regretting this decision. It would be nice if the quests weren't vague as hell and if the map actually showed you the region where you need to go so I'm not wandering in the swamp getting killed every time I turn around by a creature that can one-shot me. That's another thing. It would be nice if I you found armor or were given armor, or could buy armor. This way I wouldn't get killed by everything. This is important since every starting quest you get involved having to beat up armored bandits to get them to do their jobs and/or wandering into the monster infested swamp. Glad I only spent a couple of dollars on this.

It's bad enough that the tutorials take several hours to run. But, the first scenario of the main game I found to be unbeatable. You have almost no time to amass a sizable force of any kind before wave after wave of enemy soldiers descend on your base and wipe you out. Just my experience. But, based on that, I wish I had never bought it.
