Excellent game to play on deck, dead space 1 works well too on deck. Had to play these after playing og resident evil 4. The third person limb targeting combat is still a great gameplay design, which should be more prominent in games today.

Fix stealth mechanics and economy. My thumbs down changes to up thumbs when patches have started to roll.

OR the usual s.t.a.l.k.e.r experience: Wait a year or two, download a total overhaul mod with bug fixes and start enjoying the game then. Every GSC game have been that way for me and i do not really know why i bought this so soon, perhaps out of solidarity...

New positive review update:

(Keep in mind that the review rewards are from old thumbs-down review)

After the recent updates i think this deserves a thumbs up now. And in my initial review I did not give praise where the game really shined. The character dialogue and voice acting is as superb as it was in vermintide 2, the horde mode and design is the BEST from any other horde games and sound design and audio feedback, it is what makes the frantic horde gameplay work. I do hope that fatshark makes more content or a sequel in the near future. And hopefully Dan Abnett is still involved heavily.

And about the hat store: If it is a necessary evil for new content... so be it. But i still prefer the old gaming monetization/funding system of huge expansive expansion packs to return from the late 90's and early 00's.

New maps are for everyone so the community splitting is not happening and rotating missions is a good system to keep things fresh each week. It relies that there are many maps, and I understand they are quite an ordeal to design and make.

Bolt guns are usable now and aim as intended.

Now we just wait for new class or something more to come.

Old thumbs down review below:

Still after almost 2 years feels shallow in terms of content. Gameplay is FUN as vermintides were and the look, feel and sounds are terrific, that's why 80 hours as i write this, but really needed to have more missions and weapons. There are no las hellguns, meltaguns etc (boltguns are horrible to use, guess it's lore friendly for mere humans then) no conclusion to captain Wolfer story, missions vary only by who gives it to you and what you do on 6 or 7 maps(one more from machine god update?) and what different route you run there and what you have to do. At launch it was even less(5?)!? Glad i only bought this on sale. So should you as fatshark is weird absolutely weird in content making.

Do a big proper expansion and i buy it. No buggy mini dlc and millions of weapon skins micro transactions(curse team fortress 2 and the blight it released on games, as well as cursed mobas). ONE. BIG. EXPANSION. With absolutely lots of stuff in it and i give happily 30-40€ at launch, if it is a polished, good product. I only buy fatshark games at heavy discounts because of problems like this.

Ps. Jesper Kydd carries a lot of games. The best composer in the games industry.

Good mini expansion in my books. Somewhat linear, but that linearity was balanced with lots of "choises matter" things. Evil party and good party will have lots of different things to see.

Hopefully beamdog (or obsidian possibly) would get to make more forgotten realms stuff. I have loved playing every enhanced edition as a total newcomer, as new content like siege of dragonspear.

Co-driver calls are utterly f ucked. Not as fun or good as as first dirt rally was. Certainly harder but that comes from f-ucked up calls also...

Very good game. Excellent remake. Bioshock games feel lightweight after playing this and the original system shock 2.

I wonder if irrational games with Ken Levine lead can even surpass this or 2 with upcoming judas. I highly doubt it. Arkane studios prey 2017 is close to be as good as system shock games though.

Is this the much talked about one punch man asian cartoon? Pretty good, though the bald man does not kill with one punch which is a bit of a let down.

But otherwise pretty ok anime manga.

But where dual wield pistols and single shot options on riffles?

Unbelievably good. Forgotten realms lore and larian studios go along better than their own divinity world, just my personal preference and taste of course. This is something a bioware game should have been after da: origins.

First play trough took about 180h as solo. Might go for another as soon as possible, it is that good of a game.

May larian stay on their own and make more, much more games in the dnd setting. And may their writers (and other devs as well) have eternal inspiration to do what they seem to love doing.

Lots of negative things to start spouting here:

Cringy "hero" characters, solo play bots do not repair turrets, you have no control over what bot players do in solo play(they just follow around, throw abilities and shoot)... No melee character at all to my knowledge. Sara Numas was on dungeon of the endless for example.

Feels like MORE things and mechanics should have been here but i am guessing that developers hit some sort of design philosophy wall to try to make it all work in this kind of twin stick format mess. Twin stick shooting and slashing should have been made more satisfying and then work the turrets around good and satisfying bug/alien shooting in dark and atmospheric corridors. The elemental damage system is another really irritating feature here. Basically you need rng mostly on the damage type for (only) 4 elemental damage monsters. It is r/p/s feature that feels lazy. I don't remember dungeon of the endless being that way.

Lackluster mess overall in comparison to first tower defence/rts hybrid. I do not get why this has gotten game journalist recommendations. As a big endless scifi enthusiast i went blindly for this one. Really disappointed. Only MAJOR overhaul updates and additions can make this fun at this point.

Darksiders 1 and 2 games are really good, really fun and gorgeous looking zelda like hack and slash rpg games. Darksiders 3 is gorgeous, Joe Madureiras art style shines in this and voice actors are damn good. Steve Blum in yet another game here and voice actress of Fury, Cissy Jones is really well cast. I really wish Joe Mad and Gunfire games/airship syndicate consider carefully making darksiders 4 to be again a zelda/devil may cry like with open world hack-n-slash. With a map again. Here are no maps because, you know. Souls like, GIT GUD.

Here's where things go south fast. This is YET ANOTHER soulslike game. I am utterly fed up with souls games and devs really should wind down pouring them out.

I have to give this a thumbs down for these things:
-Souls like with VERY unforgiving combat mechanics (on apocalypse difficulty at least).
-Camera system makes the souls like combat in this unbearable experience.
-Game stutters with modern hardware.
-Lots of time wasting instant platforming death puzzles and environment traversal deaths. Many, MANY minutes are wasted on frustrating things in the name of "OOoooHHH SON! GIT GUD sCrUb!1"

OH, and edit addition:
-Item usage is a major pain in the a holes. You guessed it, it's the damn souls philosophy of using a heal item in real time and leaving you open to attacks. Git gud again... jesus...
-And item socket system is very cumbersome to use. If you would like to efficiently get the benefits for example crucible run, you have to navigate menus and fiddle sockets constantly. If you are not GIT GOOD enough that is.

Darksiders and souls like *deep sigh*, please, perhaps no more in darksiders 4?
