When I first started playing this game, I HAD a happy family. Two kids, a beautiful wife, and a life full of joys. But, as time has went past, I am now on 13 anti-depressants, my wife left me, my kids are not speaking to me anymore and I am indeed balding. My wife took the house, the car, and now I live under a bridge, door-camping my fellow humans for items of luxury like food and such.

I started playing this game 2 months ago.

I would say it's an awesome game but with its difficulties to play with. Next, I will be putting down what I like and dislike about it:
Firstly, Graphics:
The graphics need A LOT of work on. I know it's an old game, but come on guys.. gotta do better than that. Don't get me wrong, the graphic are OK, but there is staff like planes when crashing are just bouncing in place, death animations need a little work on. For someone that is looking to buy this, you could add a few 'mods' to fix that.
Next, the community:
It could get a little toxic, but in time, when you get to understand the game properly, you will not have a problem.
There is 2 kinds of people in this game:
1.) The EXTREME strategist that bosses everyone around and if you crash your chopper/plane while getting to the mission, you get your head bitten off.
2.) The guy that only wants to enjoy this game after a hard day at school/college/work and has got to deal with 10 people yelling at him to get his ass to that position on the hill.
SPECIAL 3rd PERSON: That kinda guy that just does not give a flying f... about anything and crashes every single time for the fun of it, if that's you, I love you man, you ARE MAKING MY DAY, keep doin whatcha doin.
Next, the complexity of this game:
It can be VERY hard to get used to the controls in this game, there are a couple of mods that will help you get more comfortable with 'em, but I would say it would be better to just learn everything through vanilla.
In this game, YOU, as an individual will have a lot to learn and to be fair, it is FUN! You have a HUGE range of vehicles and weapons you will have to make your way through, that's makes this game AMAZING. Another point that I want to make is that ARMA itself will never get boring and it will never let you down. Not mattering what you are doing, you will have fun while doing it in this game.
Next, servers:
You could play campaigns in single player or co-op, but I would prefer joining the servers themselves, getting to know the communities. There are LOTS of gamemodes you could pick from in the servers.
Long story short, every game has its downsides and its upsides. In principle, I highly recommend buying this game and if you want to experience it fully, I recommend buying APEX as well.
