Review Showcase
Every now and again a game is introduced to me, seemingly out of nowhere, and from the very first few seconds of playing I am enthralled.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 falls beneath this category.

Whether you prefer the hack-and-slash type of gameplay or a more stealthy approach. Whether you linger for the tremendous amount of lore or rush through dialogues for faster progression. Whether you care for music and scenery or visually beautiful skills and gory attacks.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 is an equally enjoyable single-player game as it is with a party of up to three other friends. With hundreds of different styles and four difficulties to play, the game has something to offer the seasoned RPG-veterans and the casual players alike.

What stood out to me initially was the vast amount of content in the game and, more importantly, the multitude of ways in which you can explore said content. The game does not force you onto a path, instead, it encourages you to experience the world and make it your own, without holding your hand or steering you.

Starting out you get to create your own character. Available to you are "Origin Characters" or a unique character of your own. The difference between normal and origin is essentially the storyline included. Origin characters are included in the game as a part of the story. You have the opportunity to recruit them on your journey where their background and quests are revealed to you, should you be interested.

Continuing on the play-style aspect of the game you also get to choose your character's talents and traits. Perhaps you want to experience life as a barterer capable of swinging a sword. Perhaps you enjoy sneaking around and stealing rather than bartering, backstabbing them as they figure out you have some of their stolen goods in your pouch. Perhaps you want to be a fiery mage raining down spells of destruction on your enemies, or an elementalist using the power of water to rejuvenate your party.

Moving on, the turn-based combat system is something that is easy to get in to but gets increasingly complex as the player improves and learns new things about the game. For example, fire and water create steam, which then can be electrified to stun enemies. Similarily water and ice can freeze an enemy.

Seeing as I have the high ground, Anakin, my damage output has a 50% boost

Overall, Divinity: Original Sin 2 has a well thought out story that guarantees you tens, if not hundreds of hours of game time. With a large variety of playstyles, a lot of quest and an open world you also get a generous replay value for your money.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 looks amazing. Plays amazingly. Sounds amazing.
