Starting playing in high school 10 years ago, been playing ever since. Endless replayability and complexity. This version with updated graphics, sound, and UI is outstanding so far. Hoping for a few QOL changes though soon. The DFHack team has mentioned they'll continue to support the tool, so I will be looking out for that.
Well worth the price, Tarn & Zach are wholesome and passionate.
Edit:
QOL notes:
- Alerts/civilian alerts in particular seem to be gone. It's tedious to individually assign 100+ dwarves to a burrow
- New announcements system UI is neat, but there should be a master announcements page with a history of all announcements like classic has.
- Announcements, especially really significant ones, should be audible & pause the game like they used to.
- The fight/battle reports are much clunkier than they used to be. It can be harder than classic to track who is fighting, where, and when.

So far very good, seems to have lots of content for a newly released Early Access game. Plays well on the desktop and Steam Deck. It's similar to Rimworld in the sense that it is a colony sim, but stands on its own very well. Strong recommend to fans of colony sims!

The price seems right as well, even right at EA release. There is a lot for what you pay for.

Wonderful Space Engineers-esque game. It can be a bit challenging and is best played with friends, but has lots of potential for replayability with the vast amount of customization options. This will most appeal to this interested in creating and growing complex systems of manufacturing with a very fine level of control.

I don't agree with other reviews saying it is underdeveloped. The amount of content available is staggering.

Very good city builder/logistics manager. Deserves more popularity, lots of attention to detail, great game mechanics, polished graphics. Similar in many ways to the classic TTD/openTTD. Virtually infinite replayability with great random map generation algorithms. Its good, really good.

I initially reviewed this game positively, but after some time has passed and some afterthought, I believe this was an error. I'll re-review it now, in hindsight. As they say, hindsight is 20/20

One word TL;DR: Disappointing

Cyberpunk is a disappointing story of what could have been. More than that, its what should have been - given the grandiose promises by the game's marketing team, the game's budget, and how much time CDPR had with it. The marketing hype was huge, but much of the community - including myself - believed that if anyone could deliver, it would be CDPR. Why? Context.

CONTEXT:
For context, CDPRs previous game, The Witcher 3, was fantastic. it was packed with high-quality content and the highest standard of storytelling in writing that I have seen in any game. The base game and the DLC that followed earned CDPR the reputation it had prior to Cyberpunk. Some may say that reputation was inflated, but I disagree. TW3 was exceptional, TW2 was great, and I have not played TW1 so I cannot speak to it. CDPR had a great track record, and empirically, there was no reason to believe that they would not deliver.

THE GOOD, THE OKAY, THE HORRENDOUS:
That out of the way, Cyberpunk by itself is a MEDIOCRE game. It's okay, not great, certainly not exceptional. Reviewing it on its own with no context - its just okay. Worth $60? To some, maybe. To others on a tight budget - definitely not. The story is relatively short when compared to other games in its genre. Took me about 30 hours. The side content is present, but not especially compelling. It shines in its world design and visuals. It passes, narrowly, in its writing, story telling, and gameplay mechanics. And it horribly, horrendously, and completely disappoints in its open world mechanics.

This last point warrants its own paragraph. The open world mechanics are simply not there. For a "next-gen" open-world game that would shake the industry to have virtually none of the open world features than Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas offers is appalling. Really. Someone should be ashamed, I don't know who is responsible for that section of the game, but they should be embarrassed. The police system is atrocious - spawning right on top of you, incapable of police chases, virtually nonexistent AI. The pedestrians and regular city traffic is worse. Its all on the rails, no opportunity for any emergent or interesting gameplay. To make matters worse, CDPR actually received a GRANT FROM THE POLISH GOVERNMENT TO DESIGN NEXT-GENERATION CITY NPCS/AI. Where did this money go? The Polish government should investigate this, seriously. There's nothing interesting to do in the city. No gambling, no drinking, you cant even go to a barber and change your appearance. What the hell??

BUGS
Yes there was a whole controversy about the bugs. You couldn't have missed it, it was plastered everywhere. Memed into oblivion. The only thing I'll say about it, is that people comparing it to the launch of TW3 are mistaken. TW3 had a handful of bugs and some optimization issues. The bugs and issues with Cyberpunk are in another dimension of inexcusable for the amount of time and money that went into this game.

WHAT HAPPENED? SPECULATION
Under the assumption that its even worth speculating what happened, I believe Cyberpunk as a software product fell victim to inept project and product management. The stark difference between Cyberpunk and TW3 also leads one to believe that there must have been some massive internal restructuring of the development team and the leadership between the two games. I can think of no other explanation. How much time and how much money was allotted to this game is enormous, and the final product simply does not reflect the resources it had at its disposal. For the good of the industry, CDPR might consider releasing a post-mortem on how the development cycle failed so completely and so spectacularly so that the industry as a whole can learn from their mistakes.

THE FUTURE:
At this time, I do not believe there is a future for this game. The patches and hotfixes we have seen so far do not suggest there will be any attempt at addressing the missing content, mediocre gameplay, and non-existent open world. I imagine we will see more bug fixes, a few lackluster DLC, and this game will be tossed into a shallow grave. Just my opinion. But if we can extrapolate from the absolute travesty that is Patch 1.1, I see no reason to believe otherwise.

I'm just disappointed.

Surprisingly one of my most favorite roguelikes of all time. Not entirely sure why, perhaps the replayability or the atmosphere, but there are many aspects to this game that really click with me. It manages to appeal to that collector side of me, but also, what amazes me the most is every time I die (alot), it doesn't piss me off like The Binding of Isaac or Dungeons of Dredmor. I just say to myself, well, I made a good run of it.

I've done at least 30 run throughs and havent even gotten past the fourth level. I love it :D
