Early Access Review
- tends to generate clipworthy moments very often
- extremely moddable
- frequently updated
- acts as a great gateway game for non-horror-enjoyers
- effectively created its own subgenre, which it is still the king of 14 months later

long live lethal

this triggered my fear/fascination of extremely large objects in a way that nothing ever has before. my palms were genuinely sweating at some points. it's an actual nightmare, and probably the single most impressive use of scale that I have seen in a VR game, or any game.

if you've ever wanted to feel small, insignificant, and scared - this is the game for you.

intruder does what no other game is doing on steam right now: true, classic tactical stealth multiplayer. no overstuffed roster of operators to choose from, no imbalanced abilities, no pay to win. plus, if you don't want to take it TOO seriously, there's plenty of fun to be had with custom games and steam workshop content. it's just a shame the community isn't larger.

a must-play for fans of MGS multiplayer and the SWAT games.

my favorite game to release on steam in 2020. if you enjoy one or more of the following things, this is a must-play:

- murder mysteries
- 3D platforming and puzzle solving
- well-defined and memorable characters
- vaporwave aesthetics
- jazz / city pop / vaporwave music

sequel desperately needed. ˚̩͙⚛ ͙*̩̩̥˚̩͙⚛ ͙*̩̩̥˚̩͙⚛ ͙*̩̩̥˚̩͙⚛ ͙*̩̩̥ SEE YOU ON PERFECT 25 ˚̩͙⚛ ͙*̩̩̥˚̩͙⚛ ͙*̩̩̥˚̩͙⚛ ͙*̩̩̥˚̩͙⚛ ͙*̩̩̥

derivative and uninteresting as an RPG. completely lacking in detail and immersion as an open-world adventure game. utterly boring as a shooter. the soundtrack is decent?

just a complete wet blanket of a game.

update: it's september 2022 and this game is still busted. wonky car physics, awkward overlapping dialogue, characters texting you while you're with them or even straight-up doing a quest with them...

how embarrassing.

---

update: it's december 2023. the game is more fun since the 2.0 update thanks largely to a completely revamped perk/upgrade system, but it's still BUSTED. I try to do a side quest where I drop a character off and wait in a car to pick them up. the character enters the building, sets off an explosion, and never leaves the building.

how embarrassing.

---

update: it's june 2024. the game is still more fun post-2.0 than pre-2.0, but it's also STILL busted. I see people T-posing (Y-posing?). I see braindance glasses floating in the air. the dialogue transitions are still occasionally wonky.

how embarrassing.

supreme commander 2 is not a bad RTS, but it is a bad sequel.

SC2 tries to scale up the speed of the game as well as the rate at which you can produce units and factories, and also removes limits on your storage of resources - yet it simultaneously has SHRUNK the size of the actual maps and battles. this comes across as completely contradictory and ends up making the game feel nothing like its predecessor. the differences between factions also seem to have been flattened, leading to your favored race feeling much less unique than in forged alliance.

very disappointing, but at least now I understand why the franchise died here.

dante in DMC5 is such a complex character that he could carry the entire game himself, but just to prove that DMC is really back, the game also gives you a newly upgraded nero -- as well as an emo kid who surfs on his pet panther and has a dedicated button for reciting william blake poetry.

this is one of the greatest action games of all time

probably the single greatest adventure I have had in a video game in my 15+ years of playing games, and one of the most memorable experiences I have had not just in this medium, but in ANY medium. have played the game to 100% completion three times now (although your first experience is undoubtedly unique and impossible to replicate) - EGS version, steam version, and PS4.

outer wilds is a cosmic puzzle that you solve through pure exploration, but it is also an incredibly touching story about commitment, sacrifice, and finding meaning in your own life despite its inevitable end.
