EDIT:
DONE! This is the first week that 3 times in a row the lead AI car is perfect. Several good people racing, straight dogged. Complete dogging in first race which is not unusual... Like they think forcing people to lose occasionally makes the game fun. The second race it was everything I could do to get up to the lead AI and run them off the road, then manage to slow walk the AI til players can catch up, another AI car ends up getting past and still getting first but we barely won. The last race was worse than the first.

I'm done wasting my time because absolutely no one asked them to make AI even more completely insane than it is. This game is not racing. This game is vehicular football with loot mechanics. Every week I hate this game more and I'm done wasting my time when these corporate clowns have no clue what racing is. Add this to your DoNotPlay list of Publishers/Developers. Do your part to fan the flames of this dumpster fire AAA market and just say no!

OLD REVIEW:
So with over 3k hours currently... You could say I'm fairly familiar with this game. Why would I rate a game negatively and still play it regularly? Because the current state of racing is that pathetic! However, I'll keep my review as simple and focused on this game. It's just sad they can't figure it out.

I've finally decided to write an actual review because I usually get on once a week and do all the weekly stuff in one go. The last 3 times I have played, I have been spawned into Mexico and immediately been pulled into the "new" Hide & Seek game mode. If you're not familiar with the game, that means you get pulled out of the world, rammed into car selection. Which has NO way out/back. You have to pick a car and wait. Then you have to exit the event, which if you're the hider, everyone else just got their game ruined. How old are we? Can we not see this as intrusive? I'm sick of it, and that's simply the LAST straw.

It's like every week the driving AI is somehow even worse. Literally 50% races look like a swarm of hornets driving off the road and the swerving back across trying to run cars off the road. Again, if you're not familiar with the game, human players always start behind AI players. So you usually have 6 human players just trying to catch the single AI front car while the other 5 act like blockers. It seriously hurts my brain how any developer for a "racing game" thinks that is what racing is. In what reality of racing are 5 players not going to go for the win and are just going to stop other players? FFS Sure kids play the game and sometimes people will just be @sshats but this game essentially forces everyone to divebomb each other and the accompanying "derby" style tactics. Which are great, in DERBY games/modes, which would be infinitely more entertaining that HIDE & SEEK! Can someone please show these idiots a Burnout game.

My next major gripe is the DLC, which has turned into a Micro-transaction type system and I'm certainly not giving them more money for more of the same soulless regurgitated uninspired crap with an endless list of issues that will never be fixed. Which is now $3 per car. Because buying a game and all the cars should cost $300-350? I strongly disagree.

I could go on and on but instead of that horror novel, I'll just state the game LOOKS great. The tons of cars look great. When you DO get lucky enough to get a couple other good drivers that have some skill and etiquette, it's a great experience! But then everything else sets in and you find yourself miserable for 80% of your experience.

The sad truth is this game shines best in NON-AI races containing ONLY human players. Which IS in the game... it just is not used much, Open Racing. Hopefully more people see this and come to the same conclusion. Maybe that's why I'm writing this after all ;)

Worst NFS game, hands down. For me they got nothing right, here. The best part is the art style attempt but they went drastically overboard just like everything else in this game.

Like corporate thinks of gamers like slimy addicts just desperate for their next hit of dopamine. Just sad how disconnected from reality these people have become LOL

I simply cannot recommend this game. I understand the "casual" intention but this simply isn't a full game. I would be more lenient if it was still considered a early access game but this is full release. This is not ok imo. I have seen games fresh into EA with more content and better done. The concept isn't terrible. It's essentially a casual 3d tower defense game. I'm ok with that. However there are several issue I have with it.

First, the settings are crudely lacking. No key bindings. I mean there isn't even a way to LOOK at what keys do what. You have to guess and figure it out yourself.

Secondly, the content is just sad. There's 2 guns, a pistol and a rifle. Both you have from the start and look like plain textureless models. Both share the same ammo. The environment is crazy basic. A small handful of biomes, one of which seems to literally have nothing in it. The rest basically all have the same things. Red Ore and Trees, then some small items you can pick up having 3 or 4 variants. The building consists of A floor, A wall, A ceilings, A door, a bed wall, a tube for growing one of 2 items (one health and one food) and some decor items. There is one fixed turret and some drones for defense and one vehicle. Most items must be centered on the floor. A couple have 4 offset choices. No free building.

There seems to be only one hostile enemy. There is one massive creature that doesn't seem to do anything or drop anything that I could see. Then there a small set of creatures with maybe 3 variants that just wander around that supposedly you can make pets. These little ones are literally everywhere, doing nothing.

From what I can tell that seems to be all there is to do. Like I said, if this was still being added to, I'd just be patient but this being considered full release... not ok. I picked this up on sale for $2 so I'm not even going to bother refunding but I can't see playing this again.

First off, if you see any negative reviews based on microtransactions, know now, they have been removed from the game and OVERKILL has bought all the rights as well as confirmed another 17-18 months support minimum.

This game is based on a 4 person team. Therefore, having a good team will add exponential enjoyment to an already good game. If you like to plan and coordinate and laugh as a group then this game is amazing. There's TONS of stuff to do. Regular updates and additions to keep things fresh. Though the lobby CAN be frustrating when playing with random morons and noobs, it also is quite easy to avoid ALL of that but joining a good group (Sin N Silence) or playing with friends and simply avoid random players. Ultimately, even though the mmo part can be annoying, I'd have to say that the way it's set up is a strongpoint. The game can not be randomly ruined by a stupid person, as SO many other games can and have been.

The game is saturated with fine details that really work with the theme of the game so it's very easy to fall into the role and enjoy immersion. It CAN be a hard game to learn but it also is extremely rewarding once you start to excel. The systems and mechanics of the game all have wonderful synergy. There's plenty of ways to personalize yourself as well as customize your weapons and gear depending on what tasks or approaches you want to take. Again, helping to immerse yourself in the role of a heister. You may want to sneak into a bank and have a simple clean getaway, which requires suits, concealable weapons and a level headed crew. Then you might want to cook some meth which might require a whole separate team, bigger guns and body armor for when the SWAT teams show up and push in with shields. Might even want to bring your Katana to that get-together. Each heister has their own style. In game, as it would be in real life, any heist could be made or broken by who you decide to kick the doors in with.

At the end of the day, PD2 offers a level of quality, detail, personalization, immersion and replay-ability that very few games can contend with. If you have ANY interest in this game, GET IT! If you're worried about the DLC, you don't need them but they help improve the game. It's not at all a Pay to Win game. The DLC, as well as the game, goes on sale 75% off all the time.

11/10
Would shoot a dozer in the face again!!!
