The best team-based zombie killing simulator on the market!

So what is it?
Left 4 Dead 2 is a team based first person shooter taking place in a zombie ridden USA. The goal of the game is to get to a rescue vehicle of some sort & escape from wherever you are.

Well how does it play?
You play through a campaign of (usually) 4 levels as a team of 4 survivors. Each level is a linear path leading to a saferoom where you can restock on health, ammo, & progress to the next level. The last level always ends in a big finale where you wait for the rescue vehicle to arrive while you fight off hordes of zombies. Each campaign takes place in a unique location with some kind of fun gimmick, making you use different strategies & tactics to complete each campaign.

Throughout each level you'll have to kill hordes of zombies & special infected while using the weapons & items you find to fend them off. Most levels have some sort of event that you need to complete to proceed through the rest of the level. Said events can vary from holding a location, running like hell from a horde, or even grabbing a case of cola for a crazy guy in a gun store. Aside from events, there are also "boss" fights with very strong special infected that can take a whole team to take down.

What kind of things can you find in the game?
There are a variety of firearms, melee weapons, & items that you can find throughout each level. The guns all feel unique, each one giving a different way to play. All guns (except pistols) have a limited ammo pool that can only be restocked at ammo piles found in the level + saferooms. Melee weapons vary from chainsaws to frying pans, all of them carrying the ability to hit multiple enemies at once. There are 2 types of items: throwables & consumables. Throwables are used to distract/kill lots of zombies while consumables give you things ranging from health to explosive bullets. Items are uncommonly placed around the map and can only be used once, so use them wisely!

As for the zombies you have your generic fast but weak zombies, then you have the special infected. What are special infected? Well they're zombies with more health & a special ability. Some can punce on you, requiring a teammate to shoot it off of you, while others use special attacks to try to kill you a lot faster than normal zombies can. Then there's the "boss" special infected: one is a frail looking zombie that only attacks when disturbed, but can easily kill whoever disturbs it. The other is a giant 10ft wall of hunky muscle that can throw you, big rocks, and even cars!

How moddable is the game?
Oh you can find a mod for just about anything. Whether it be making the game prettier, adding new campaigns, or even changing the zombies into teletubbies. Adding new mods is really easy since it uses steam workshop, although the in-game mod menu could be better.

PROS:
+ 13 campaigns with customizable difficulty & challenges
+ 8 playable characters (2 sets of 4, each used for different campaigns)
+ Unique enemies that are fun to fight & have decent AI
+ A variety of weapons & items
+ AI director that randomly places enemies & items throughout the map
+ Still active playerbase
+ Thousands of mods on the workshop (silly & serious)
+ Runs like a dream

CONS:
- Games last 35-60 minutes (depends on campaign & team)
- People can leave at any time without penalty, leaving you with sub-par bots
- Graphics aren't the best
- Although they're rare, cheaters can easily ruin games

PRICE:
$19.99 when not on sale, but can go as low as $3.99
It's well worth it at full price.

TL;DR:
A highly moddable campaign-based zombie fps where you play as a team. It's pretty good.
