Update after another few months and countless ♥♥♥♥ shows: just don't bother with this game, at least 20% of the players are cheating, in casuals this number probably doubles.. it ruins the fun for everyone...

i would surely not recommend this game, unless you enjoy having 2-3 wallhackers in every single casual game.
every premier above 15k is filled with cheaters, 20k+ you have a chance that you get grouped with 4 cheaters against 5 other cheaters..
some more blatant than others, and even some "new" anti-aim seems to have surfaced..

i could write a lot more, but the cheater situation overshadows everything else positive or negative..

Silica is a great game with a fun concept.
I'm looking forward to more additions, changes and iterations - balancing an RTS is quite difficult.
There are performance issues, especially with more than 10 players, with a 1060 you can expect as low as 6 fps on lowest setting in 1080p. Though, the performance is getting increased all the time so it's just a matter of time until the optimisations are finished.

Overall I can recommend the game - while players find out new ways to cheese, the developer is hard at work fixing the issues asap and every iteration is an improvement.

I would NOT recommend this game to any beginner.

Everybody who still plays it usually does that because they invested so much time and effort already.
Also, the base-game is really great, it is just completely imbalanced and got destroyed by features like aircraft carriers and submarines.
Next to that WG are greedy bastards who do anything to squeeze out more money from the community.

great experience! been playing daily since i bought it

As soon as i got over the first 2 minutes, i was hooked.. I played the first time until 7 am and continued the day after. Luckily it was weekend ;)

i LOVED this game when i was a kid playing it on the NES, i cant believe there is a rebirth of this beautiful experience!!!
I havent played it too long yet due to stress, but.. it's Shadowgate with only slightly changed quests and WAY better graphics and controls... what more does one want
