Really interesting concepts and exploration, driving the car also feels really good mechanically, it truly makes you feel like Ryan Gosling.
Unfortunately the game is also made in Unreal Engine 4, so that means it runs as well as a brick on the wind. Real shame because I'm very interested in it, just not 35-40fps on medium settings interested.

A lot of very cool ideas and really good atmosphere bogged down by extremely simplistic gameplay. It took me 3 tries to get into this game until I finally managed to give it a proper shot and carry through to the end. It was hard for me to connect with Jesse early on, since I felt that the story started and I was missing a chunk of it, even though you end up learning what happens later on in the game, it was hard to feel involved early on, at least for me.
The powers are fun to use, well, by that I mean I liked grabbing literally anything I could see and tossing it at someone at mach 7 speed, giving the hiss creatures a series of concussions, the boring part of the combat for me honestly was using the gun, I couldn't find a type that really made me think "Wow, that one is cool to use", they're all kinda eh.
Graphically the game is really impressive, it's truly one of the best usage of RT reflections I've seen, and if you have an Nvidia GPU, I recommend grabbing the 2.5.1 DLSS .dll out on the internet, since the one included in the game is kinda bad. Overall the graphical fidelity really helps with the atmosphere, it's creepy, chilling and mysterious. Except that final stage, ♥♥♥♥ whoever decided to make everything red, everything I looked at was orange for a while after I beat this game, that ♥♥♥♥ hurt my eyes man.
I couldn't finish the DLCs because Foundation honestly bored me out of my mind, making me not want to come back to the game, so I won't bother. I'd rather not play it than making the game worse in my memory.
To conclude, overall pretty good game, not super fantastic, but still a recommend from me, it's got enough unique stuff.

Got the game a few years ago when i heard generally a lot of good things about it, be it from friends or in reviews, which got me interested.
This being my first Dragon Quest game, i didn't know what to expect except it being a fantasy story about being a hero, and early on as the story progresses, that's what you get.
Progressing through the story i started to meet the characters that would pretty much compose my party, and as expected i started growing attached to them and liking them, they're genuinely fun and varied, be it in design or personality, if there's one thing this game shines, it's on that.
As i go through the game i started getting hooked by the story, with it having some interesting twists, and when i reached the end of Act 2 there were moments that honestly made me tear up. ( That being Veronica dying and her sister Serena growing a lot from it as a character, which to me is one of the most impactful scenes in the game )
And honestly, if the game ended here, in act 2, this review would've probably been positive, but alas, as Act 3 rolled around, i was personally severely disappointed. (WARNING: Heavy spoilers ahead)
At the start of Act 3, our Hero discovers a way to go back in time before a moment in the story where the first twist in the story happens, where he's betrayed and branded as the villain, for a chance to undo that and with it, pretty much everything from that point onwards, which would be essentially 80% of what you played of the game up until now, and to me that felt like the game was picking up everything it showed me, everything i did, the neat little love story with the mermaid, Veronica's heroic sacrifice to save everyone, the whole journey up to this point, crumbling it up like a sheet of paper and throwing it in the garbage, and then spitting on it for good measure. I genuinely felt like it was the most ass pull way of giving me a "good ending" and fixing everything. Nothing needed fixing, it undermined everything the characters went through, because now there's a convenient way of fixing it, the whole story, all the consequences lost all of their weight, since we could just press the world reset button, and in my opinion that's a fat no.
To conclude this review in a non-spoilery way, if you plan to play the game until the end of act 2, then yeah, it's a pretty good game, but act 3 was genuinely a bad choice in my opinion.

Can this review wait for a bit? I'm in the middle of some calibrations.
