The 1:1 port with mobile version making the desktop version incredibly painful to use - extra clicks for virtually every single user action makes the game very painful and slow to play compared to its predecessors!

For this reason alone I've stopped playing it, despite the slickness of the UI and whatever improvements there may be.

Overall: Good

gameplay: real nice, albeit little in guidance.

UI: rough, needs more polish, particularly options for font size and stuff. and accessibility

pretty good game, but low player count and high average skill makes fair matches unlikely and hard to get good.

Early Access Review
Edit: 10 years and 1000 hours of playtime after (most of which was in the first year after) the original review, I'd like to update my review

Game's finished development. I left the game on a bittersweet, sour, disappointed feeling. Mostly, I've moved on after being disgruntled, disappointed by the development.
The game runs like ♥♥♥♥ and suffers from unlimited technical debt. It's not a very well made/interesting game.

Not to mention the problematic publisher.

Original:

A fair bout of play for a hundred or two hours single player - doing things like exploring and building and hoarding... mostly hoarding; now i hang out with the community. As an indie game, this a pretty large game and community. (The community is about a thousand active people, my estimate.)

There's two main branches of the game, the Stable version and the Nightly version; the Stable version (doesn't feature horses) is the playable one, last updated in april 2014; the Nightly version is extremely unstable and essentially is the dev's workdump each night. At this point (7 months) the nightlies are very different from the stable, in terms of the game mechanics, and nearing the state of a nearly finished game.

There's more to say, but for now:
I like it, it's fairly complete in its features, just need some more fleshing out (and adding the final few fancy features).
Well worth the money, YMMV, definitely not for everyone.
